It still is terrible. Last weekend it tried to take me on an on ramp that is restricted to buses only. I also set a route to a movie theatre and it took me to a residential neighborhood. Back to google/waze for me.

google maps for me until aapl maps gets compelling
aapl dropped the ball with maps - always playing catch up in maps

With this new update Apple Maps is easily the best looking option for maps (and it's not close) - I've never had a problem with the routing, though I know people who have.

When I need to get someplace rather quickly I'll use Waze (for the police notifications) - but I'll use AM over GM now.

So I didn't think I would see any changes where I live in GA. Stop signs/stoplights are highlighted in Carplay and Siri navigation acknowledging as such. (At the stop sign turn right etc.)

Despite this new update, Apple Maps still does not impress me with its errors (two in particular) which I have reported on numerous occasions going on close to a year now.

Apple Maps May be aesthetically pleasing but is still functioning lacking.

First issue — when asking directions to a doctor’s practice, Apple Maps will bring me to a street over and tell me I have arrived. I guess I’m supposed to go through the private residence, and jump their wall to get to the practice?

Second issue — whenever I travel from the West Valley (west of Phoenix) to the East Valley (east of Phoenix) using the highway, Apple Maps will always erroneously tell me to take exit 147B to SR-51 (wrong direction) rather than take Loop 202 South.

Images describing above issue posted here — https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/updated-apple-maps.2125979/post-28100948.

How do you get this update? I thought the built in apps were only updated through OS updates. I just looked at my app and nothing looks different at all.

What‘s an ‘apple car’? Do European countries not have a land border? Do you know what Europe is?
the apple owned cars that have the Lidar sensors for map recording, you know for the maps and all. A quick internet search would let you know. Also last time I checked Europe has no land borders with the USA. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

That‘s the poorest Ted talk in history. A quick internet search reveals Apple Car to be a secret – and now largely repurposed – Apple project to develop their own consumer vehicle.

Why are you wittering on about a USA land border? Apple have been Lidar mapping across the world.

You still didn’t answer my question about whether you know what Europe is.

Man I don’t know why you’re pushing it so hard. My comment about borders was what makes more sense:

a) move up to a neighbouring country or
B) travel across the ocean

you went off about implying I don’t know that Europe has borders even though that’s not the point, it’s proximity.

Apple maps cars are white, have lidar towers, and you can google them, and implying that they’re across the world suggests you know that. Hence Apple car

Willful ignorance isn’t a valid defence.

Thank you for coming to my even better TED talk

I'm pushing hard because your original post laboured under the assumption that a land border with the US is the most deserving candidate to get updated Apple Maps features. That is a patently absurd proposition when the requisite mapping is being conducted in multiple countries. You might want to drive into Canada. Because you can. But that does not make your car any more deserving to get the new map updates than, say, someone who lives in the UK.

Well done! Europe is looking forward.
A great deal of data has already been recorded there, and now that huge volume of data must be prepared... Apple is certainly busy every day.

I’ve seen road hazard notifications in Apple Maps here from time to time.
Yes, one of the next follow ups coming soon... 😃

Waze is slow and clunky imo. I'd like to use it but can't stand it.
I have never once experienced this. Perhaps a little slow to load everything on launch but that’s it. The only neg is the inability to drop a marker for something you’ve passed. Specifically how is it slow and clunky for you?

I experienced the same, but I don’t use it directly anymore. I’ll run it in the background while using Apple Maps on CarPlay for police notifications.

It wouldn’t keep up with me. Sometimes driving on the highway, but mostly on turns. It never seemed to know where I was or what direction I was facing when starting in a parking lot. I would start in the wrong direction half the time since it didn’t have enough time to show which way I was going...hated that.

Hated the look and yeah, it was “clunky”...
