They really don't need to release another iPhone. People are still trippin' over the 3 camera system in the Pro's... which btw, my wife's Christmas gift 11 pro max still carries a $1,000 Balance!
The fact that you just bought a new iPhone has no bearing on whether Apple should release a new iPhone each year. We don’t all upgrade on the same schedule. I’m still using an iPhone X, and I’m more than ready for an upgrade.

I’m not planning on getting the next phone as my 24 month term would take me to the 2021 model...

but if the 2020 model is delayed by 3 months the risk then is it turns into the iPad 3 fiasco with a device having a shelf life of 6-9 months.

Just release a stop-gap upgrade of the 11S, 11S Pro and 11S Pro Max. Introduce just enough updates to incentivize those who truly need a new phone. Save 5G and the big upgrades on the 2021 models.

I'm still using my 4 year old 2016 iPhone 7 Plus. I will be buying nothing if it's not 5G.

It’s a no brainer if you ask me. Add in that worldwide 5G deployments are going to be delayed by COVID-19, a September launch doesn’t seem necessary. Maybe November at the earliest.
5G has already been deployed in my city (Toronto).

Speak for yourself! I don't care about the triple camera lens because I have been waiting for the 5.4" since I let go of my 6. I understand if the circumstances force Apple's hand but I will still be disappointed if it gets delayed.

As long as they go on sale the day they are announced , that would be awesome (not gonna happen)

Actually cancel the event and just release the thing when it’s ready to ship. I’m digging the current event free release schedule.

They're too addicted to iPhone sales to put it off too far. iPhone will launch no matter what.

I agree. Apple won’t miss out on hundreds of millions of dollars, if they don’t have too.

And I don’t blame them. Some people won’t spend the money if Covid has not decreased, but many people will.

The engineering work isn't the problem. It's probably close to done, waiting on testing. It's the delays and backlog in manufacturing. If a single new component isn't ready in volume on time they can't make 'em.

What I’m hearing in the news on Mac rumors is that the iPhone 12 series will be delayed I predicted last month that the iPhone 12 Siri should be delayed due to the virus that we’re in right now.

If they delayed the iPhone 12 Siri till next September we usere on the iPhone upgrade program would be paying the full apple care and the full device.

If this happens we have to pay the phone is full and we will be able to sell it to pay for the next iPhone that if they decide to scrap the 12 series in automatically just rename it as an iPhone 13 series this would be a better option and this year they shouldn’t release anything.

They should let us keep our current phone till next year at once this virus goes away they could announce all the products in September and iOS 15 or 14.

Jon Prosser says October/November
Ya probably early-mid November

Nikke.. is well known as an Apple bear and more often than not is more than happy to spread negative rumors and misinformation.
Very true...what’s better than trying to take down the King huh?. Yes but a mid Nov launch is probably being looked at

Why do they need it to be a hit? If it gets good critical reviews but most people don't upgrade for another year, does it really matter? The design work is already a sunk cost, and it's not like people are never going to want 5G phones if the first model doesn't sell well.

I have the X. Was planning to upgrade to this one through a work program (still get the old discount every 2 years thing) where I held out an extra year. Wanted to wait until 5G was part of the package as the last two years haven't been enough to get me to ditch the X. Guess I'll wait longer, but as others have mentioned, this is not terribly important right now.

Mid-April for re-opening here in the UK or over the channel in Europe is extremely optimistic. Forecasts suggest that is when most countries will be peaking in the epidemic, some a little earlier hopefully (Italy) and some perhaps a bit later (UK). I can’t see things beginning to return to normal until late May if I’m honest. Perhaps even June

I'd be more worried if they weren't having these discussions. It's healthy and normal to consider all options.

And if they do push it back, not the end of the world people.

Your current iPhone will keep chugging along just fine.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems a bit silly to think that the iPhone flopped because sales are low when the world is on lockdown. Any analysts that would allege as much while ignoring world pandemics probably shouldn't have much traction.
