Disliked by who exactly? A very small group of elitist that’s who. Outside of that, 99.99999 percent don’t care 🙄
I dislike non-iMessage texting due to issues with sending video and sound files that are important to my business. I would say that it is not a "very small group of elitist(s)" that dislike the green bubbles.

Teenagers used to buy Rolexes?
Anyway I never liked wearing a watch, not even in the old days.
When I was a kid time didn't matter, and by the time I was a teen, I had my trusty Nokia 3330 to tell the time...
I was spending 99% of my time on the computer or at school regardless, so I always had a clock nearby.

Rolex Schmolex

If you want a REAL premier watch get an Omega

Good enough for NASA and James Bond .... nuff said

Having said that I love my apple watch , definitely the most impressive thing apple have released in the last 10 years

Taking the top spot from Rolex among teens cannot be hard. How many teens own a Rolex? I don't even know what the least expensive Rolex costs. EDIT: now I'm laughing, seeing that other commenters before me picked up on the absurdity of the Rolex comparison.
FWIW I went to a wealthy private HS (I was *not* one of the wealthy kids, my parent had assistance to afford the school) and Rolexes did, indeed, abound.

I wonder if teens even know what private relay is. I teach high school kids and I would be surprised if more than a couple knew what it was.

Wait, 33% of all watches worn by teens of an average age of 16.2 and a median household income of $69,298 are Rolex’s?
It seems like a huge WTF... I thought I was over-spoiling my daughter by getting a last gen AW for her 16th... and we wonder why there's an entitled, sheltered (and I'm submit pretty poor) attitude in many of today's kids... if this stat is true there needs to be a reckoning (not to mention they should stay off my lawn!).

Apple is so smart with their marketing towards youth (AirPods and Beats) and parents (Screentime and Privacy). If you get teens hooked on iOS products they’ll most likely be customers for life and buy their future kids Apple as well.

It’s like growing up with Coke vs Pepsi. It runs in the family.

It was obviously aspirational watch brand in the survey. Could have been Patek as well as the brand is name-dropped in many rap songs, apparently.
I actually am nerdy enough to wear a mechanical watch at the left and an apple watch at the right - for everything except time, also for unlocking my phone when I wear a mask!
Yes a cheap casio is more accurate than a mechanical watch but that is not the point. The point is the fascination with little vibrating parts, almost like a perpetuum mobile, being accurate to a few seconds per day. Rolex is actually very good in that respect, most of their current watches are +- 2 seconds per day. Their bracelets are also aming the most comfortable on the market. They do a lot of things right, it is not just marketing. I could have bought the Oyster Perpetual at the dealer, but let the opportunity go, other more important priorities prevailed. Anyway, mechanical watches are cool, and so is the Apple watch.

Teenagers grow and once you are used to an Apple smartwatch you will probably stick to buying them when you are a grown up.

They also say Chick-Fil-A is their number one restaurant 😂😂.
It's not wise to discount the preference of teens, their buying and social habits. I don't discount the Chick-Fil-A preferences either, as there are huge lines of teens (among other demographics) every time I go to one.

Assuming you want a successful business model or long-term commercial viability, you're probably better off aligning with an existing teen trend vs. establishing a new/outside commercialization trend.

All those teens either with an iPhone/Apple Watch (or aspiring to get one) are ripe for Apple to monetize for the next 50 years via high-margin Apple One monthly subscription services, in addition to hardware sales.

I wonder what the numbers are for Europe. When I was still in school, nearly everyone had a sub €200 smartphone.

As others have pointed out, the survey seems to be regarding aspirational ownership (hope in the future) and not actual current ownership.

AW and Rolex are at such different price points (the lowest priced new Rolex is $5,800 while an AW can be had for as little as $399), it seems unlikely someone would be seriously shopping one against the other.

I guess one would cross-shop a Rolex against an Apple Watch in the same way one would cross-shop an s class amg against a honda accord.

Let me know where I can get a new GMT for retail price and I’ll fly to Europe on a vacation trip to buy one lol.

Not sure but I wasn't looking - most were the everyday DateJust variants.

Personally, like I said, I'd buy used before I'd buy new as long as the used one has been serviced regularly. Yea, you might not get box+papers but it's not like a DateJust will rival a Daytona.

I think my favorite watch is a Patek. I would need a wealthy friend to ever be in the position to buy one.

I bought one many years ago in Switzerland; couldn't afford one today. Get a nice magazine though...

Yea. Where I am the CFilA is packed with high school kids at lunch.

Im not sure how many teens other than drug dealers have Rolex's... for that matter, I'm also not sure how you can even compare an Apple Watch to a Rolex. A Rolex with continue to have an innate value and be worth a significant amount in years, decades to come. An Apple Watch won't.

I don't know a single person that has a Rolex. I do know plenty of people who have an Apple Watch.
I do. As a matter fact, I know people direct from the Apple Watch forum on this website who have multiple Rolexes, but had since shelfed them in place of the Apple Watch. Rolex is basically turned into like a ‘fancy event watch’ for some, where as the Apple Watch has adopted some luxury appeal to it with the stainless casing and a link band, but really it’s all about the convenience of being a ‘multi tool’ in so many ways.

It’s not just the Apple Watch, it’s the world of tech that we live in that is taking over in so many different ways, and electric cars would be another example of integrating that tech.
