I was referring to supporting and refreshing product lines? You consider lack of ads abandoning really? These ads are cute but entirely irrelevant to the iPads, they hold very little value
Two of the "Don't Buy" products in my screenshot haven't been refreshed once in the last two years, historically the Mac Pro (or its Power Mac predecessors) have NEVER, not once, gone this long without a refresh. This is what I look at when I disagree that Apple is not abandoning the Mac.

I mentioned the ads not because they are most relevant, but because they tend to show what the focus of a company is. In this case, the focus is definitely away from the Macs.

That is a lot of red "Don't Buys". Not one green.

According to MR buyer's guide, Apple's Mac line is hardly refreshed.

I guess I can agree with this, but I have been seeing these ads a lot lately, I don't think that Apple believes the ads are irrelevant.
i don't follow any buyers guides most are dumb although I do agree, MB Air, MacBook, iMac, and Mac Pro I wouldn't buy rn. I see no issue with the MacBook Pro though and consider it a great product. As for the ads I was more saying how just because one product line of Apple is getting new ads and the Macs are not doesn't indicate abandonment but maybe a focus on iPads rn which would make since as the new Pros are supposedly soon to be unveiled, look for a event announcement next week ;)

What is Apple honestly supposed to do with Macs rn, put Kaby Lake chips inside for a less than 3% performance increase. No Apple Is waiting for a reason to update the macs and rn there is 0 reason or new tech that is worth Apples time of refreshing the iMac lineup, now the MacBook does need KabyLake, as do the MacBook Pro, and the Mac Pro is long overdue for a update and I feel one is coming soon with intels newly released Xeon chips

Still can't believe they dare advertise an IPad (12.9) that's almost a year and a half old.
I wouldn't feel comfortable spending that amount on money on a tablet that - at this price - should have the latest hardware, not 2015 hardware.

I know, right? How dare Apple! Because the iPad Pro 12.9 is so outdated and it barely is usable. It's so archaic. Who would but the 12.9 iPad? Apple needs to retire it and not advertise it at all.

Unbelievable what some consider dated. If a product release is not on someone else's time line, then the hardware is completely outdated on their terms. It doesn't work like that.

Finally, someone who gets it. That's rare here on MR.

I mean you both make good points, they should advertise the iPad Pro but at the same time it needs a refresh and no it's not worth its price at all. I wonder if these ads are to get people interested before the rumored April event. Then people will be like hey the new ones just came out lemme go ahead and buy it now. It's like Apple is bating people with ads and the new iPads will be the trap that captures wallets across the nation

Well there's USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 and new GPUs, but I agree the 27" 5K iMacs are otherwise still fine value for money. For the 21.5" models however, we still have models with antiquated 5400 RPM HDDs + no included SSD, and that is a serious problem which needs to be fixed ASAP.

There were people on here saying the exact same thing last year, the Mac Pro would be refreshed in mid 2016 with new Intel CPUs and AMD Polaris GPUs. The year before there was also talk of a 2015 refresh. Now it's 2017, and at this point, you can't blame me for being skeptical that the Mac Pro will see a refresh at all.

Even if it does get refreshed, it has been made clear that Apple is not focused on offering the professionals good hardware value for money.

Misleading....

Ipad is not there yet..Ipad is mainly a consumption device.
Give it a robust user manageable file sys and i/o and the ability to run full fledged application rather than fragmented snippets of apps......... then the campaign will make sense..
For now its just marketing bs.

P.s. I love my 12.9 pro... but im also not delusional about what its good for .

Point is, one's opinion of an iPad that is considered "Dated", doesn't necessarily make a dated for everybody else's uses. It depends how the user uses the iPad and what are their needs for personal or work use. So for somebody to call it dated, that's sweeping generalization in terms of not speaking for everyone, versus just themselves. That was my point. I wasn't arguing the price point or overall value, more so, the actual purpose of what the iPad is used for by the user. It's all preference based on one's needs, not a broad brush stroke comment portraying the iPad as ancient.

Apple is shooting itself in the foot...
Apple is forgetting its foundation and the foundation of its eco sys .
Apple is forgetting its legs just becouse it has something Nice in its hands now. Iphone and derivatives...
At the end of the day.. call it what u want.. Apple is a computing/IT company.. if they dont show their absolute prowess in the field in all areas.... they will lose credibilty and reputation as the most powerful and technologically advanced platform!
Which will in turn negatively effect All their products and their overall image !

There is a lot happening in the Desktop world... Apple is pushing its most loyal hard core base and best advocates to other brands/platforms by neglecting that ! This will turn around and bite Apple in the back sooner than later.

I am not sure if I totally agree with you, but I will say that I use/tolerated things like the iOS, iPad and iPhone, because I love the Mac, the Mac OS, and accessories like AirPort.

If Apple decides to drop the Mac, then I would drop Apple, and my iPhone would be the first to go.

But, I feel like I am probably a small minority.

So entertaining watching many here saying Apple is going to drop the Mac. Yeah, just keep on making stuff up...

The funny thing is that the MacBook Air has a longer battery life than the iPad Pro... I found a MacBook in the end a better study tool than the iPad (as did 95 percent of others at uni, though I do admit I prefer reading textbooks on an iPad).

True. They still sell 4 year old Macs. They abandoned the Mac customers.
No they haven't ? What because Apple doesn't feel the need to refresh a $3000 Mac Pro every year. Apple is not abandoning Mac.

Unfortunately the more of these that come out, the more I wonder if an update is imminent at all.
I have this same feeling in the back of my mind, propping up the current models is usually not a good sign, but at the same time they are not propping up the iPads themselves but more the iPad Pro line in general and what it stands for. In a way these ads are setting the stage for Apple to unveil fresh models that only further fulfill the iPad Pro's purposes.

Because of my age I know I am not the target audience here, but we do have iPads now and have owned iPads since the iPad 2 so it's not like I am against owning one, but there is nothing in these commercials that make me want to buy a new one.

Which one do you have, if your only using the iPad for basic email and browsing and mainly video watching the iPad Pro certainly isn't for you, the new iPad however for $329 is a worth a look.

I think tha their Amya means new pros on the way as there are mainly just talking about the experience not the hardware itself and seems to me they are only showing the 12.9 inch model in these ads ...

I saw this little video the other day...

I've been looking forward to this type of thing for years.

Dockable phones/tablets can be useful, especially if you have a dock at work and home.

It's certainly nice to see tech companies like Samsung and Microsoft actually trying to do some new things.

I can't think of any forgivable reason why the biggest and richest tech company in the world cannot be bothered to update the Mac Mini from 4th to 7th generation chips.

Meanwhile, companies that are a very tiny fraction of the size are able to come up with, produce, and keep updating niche products like the Razer Blade Pro.
