Not all work has to be "Pro" to be considered work.

There's plenty of work which falls into the middle zone and which can be done on a mobile device, thereby allowing the user to do away with having to contend with the complexities and idiosyncrasies of a desktop operating system.
Agree. Note that most of the people that recognize themselves/feel attracted to the "PRO" moniker as Apple labels them are in the red (=wannabee) area. Real Pro's hardly care.

So you work with spreadsheets, documents, music performance controlling, movies on the go, read books, draw and so on on your iPhone as well?

Well i don't, i think the iPad is better for those tasks, and thats what i use it for..

Yep, its just a big iPhone, if you only use it to check facebook, and write messages :p The screen size does matter in the other use cases (and probably many more)

Most impressive

Google apps?

What format did you need to print it in? I don't see why you'd need more than A4 or Letter format, also have you tried Printer Pro by Readdle?

Really I'm in high school and the only thing preventing me from going paperless are the ignorant teachers that refuse to embrace the assignment portal and digital workflow the iPad offers. Stuck in there old ways I guess.

Don't criticize any teachers' "ignorance" if you don't know the difference between "their" and "there."

Apple should stop making desktops & laptops altogether and use those resources for more tablet ads.

Already given up on Apple, this is absolutely not what I want or need, as for the Ad's verging on infantile...
Q-6
This is clearly targeted to the K12/school sector that they sorely lost to Chromebooks - and they never understand why because listening isn't in their capabilities.

Can I develop Apple Apps on the iPad Pro?...nuff said, it ain't pro or replaces a computer until it does.

Apple marginalizes one "pro" product line to ensure another "pro" product line is remains relevant.
[doublepost=1490982440][/doublepost]This just shows how incredibly naive Apple is being these days. They are targeting a "pro" product to students and casual users.

Don't get me wrong, I think the iPad Pro is a great piece of hardware, but it is obviously not a professional product and Apple realizes that now so stop calling it that.

Also Apple assuming the K-12 industry wants kids running around with very expensive and supposedly professional quality tablets, that is insane. As already mentioned, I have a friend that bought a $150 Asus ChromeBook, not even current generation, and his daughter in grade 2 is doing lessons and submitting homework on it. If she breaks it, no big deal, but honestly the abuse it has gone through and survived is impressive. The idea of having to spend $1000 more, plus expensive docking keyboard to accomplish EXACTLY the same thing is absolutely ridiculous; and then expect a child not to knock it around or drop it, ever.

Apple needs to refocus their WHOLE iPad lineup and properly identify their market audience and marketing because these commercials are all coming off as one annoying epic joke, almost as bad as "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" back in the day. The iPad Pro product is just schizophrenic and dissapointing to the original intended market and far too expensive and impractical for the one they desperately trying to advertise to now.

Steve Jobs once said Apple didn't need to advertise if they did a product right, obvious iPad Pro is so very wrong on many, many levels.

So, I'm kinda confused. I'm not really sure what your definition of pro is either. I don't think, and I think you agree as well that a 2nd grader needs a "pro" device. The regular iPad would be just as good. I don't see where you equate giving a child a chromebook and an expensive iPad Pro. I mean, you wouldn't give them any definition of a MacBook Pro, would you?

The iPad Pro is a pro device. Kyle Lambert did a lot of the artwork for the Stranger Things poster on the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro is an amazing artists tool. Graphic is a full-featured vector drawing tool. I was playing around with AutoCad on my iPad Pro last week. The AutoCad limitations aren't hardware; they are software-related. Here's a video of how an Interior Designer can use the iPad Pro for renderings. Here's another architect using an iPad Pro as his primary computer. Last week I used the iPad Pro, the Pencil and a VGA adapter to walk a critical care unit at work through some workflows and mark up corrections. I use it to take notes during meetings. I've presented off it and created presentations on it. I've written most of a technical manual using Word for iOS.

I work as a Business Analyst and I can do almost 85% of my job on an iPad Pro. A lot of times I bring it and leave my work-supplied laptop at my desk.

The iPad Pro is not the only computing tool I use. But, it's the one I reach for more often than not when I need to get stuff done.

Too often the definition of "real work" and "pro work" is "the stuff that I do, that you don't do, that you can't do on the device we are talking about."

There are definetly issues Apple needs to sort out with iOS. Split View is a joke. It needs to deal with external storage better. But that stuff doesn't get in the way of what a lot of people need to do on their iPads to get their jobs done.

..if Apple would just implement a cursor for the iPad. That would be a start. Otherwise it's by far no laptop replacement.

Ah, a cursor. THAT'S what the iPad needs.

Then you'll say, "now we need mouse support so we can move the cursor."

Then you'll cry for a "real" file system to navigate that cursor through something. You know, for "real work."

Then you'll moan that the iPad will need Thunderbolt, USB-C, an SD slot. Anything to make it look like a MacBook. Maybe bring back the sad Mac face on a kernel panic. Yeah... that last one. This'll make the entire line more "Pro!"

LOL laptop's heavy. Go to the ****ing gym and quit complaining. Imagine back in the days when we used to have actual bricks with like 2 minute battery life

Laptops nowadays are lighter than moleskine notebooks. Or pick any school book.

There are people (even on this forum) that think that Macbook Air is a lot heavier than the new Macbook and they can go back to Macbook Air's weight . Pretty sad :)

The only time I miss a mouse is when using our VDI for work. But I'm not paying the mouse that works with Citrix or Horizon.

Is it just me who feels the 12.9 iPad Pro is almost being forgotten about? Yes it's still advertised as part of the collective "iPad Pro" product line, but it's missing big features that the 9.7 got a couple months after the 12.9 originally came out.

Also in the accessory department you get much more colours for the 9.7 than the 12.9.

It seems to me that both the 12.9 and 9.7 should have come out at the same time with the same features and accessories.

On top of all this, the budget iPad (without a version number) released this week and the rumoured 10.5 iPad, are really making the iPad product line confusing.

The 9.7" iPad is still the golden child of iPad. Simply because it has the most demand and people would love a smaller iPad to begin with.

12" iPad is still too big for most people. Yes of course it would be more enjoyable to use, but not so much to carry around, which was the point of having an iPad.

What is Apple honestly supposed to do with Macs rn, put Kaby Lake chips inside for a less than 3% performance increase. No Apple Is waiting for a reason to update the macs and rn there is 0 reason or new tech that is worth Apples time of refreshing the iMac lineup, now the MacBook does need KabyLake, as do the MacBook Pro, and the Mac Pro is long overdue for a update and I feel one is coming soon with intels newly released Xeon chips

Update the GPUs. CPU gains have been marginal for a long time, though a 1070 or 1080 in an iMac would bring a whole new level of performance....which they will not bring.

By new iPad do you mean the "iPad" or "iPad Pro"? Pro is 100% better than air 2 but I agree the new iPad is just worse.

Having used both, definitely no where near 100%. If you own an iPad Air 2 , the updgrade is not a major one, it's really a move from iPad Air 2 to iPad Air 3, if you need the pencil support, I guess it makes or worthwhile

We have not seen that since Apple is reportedly switching to AMD for the Mac GPUS

The point is that upgrades can be made, and some will bring large performance impreovemrnts, so the hardware is there. Apple is choosing not to update. They can wait till AMD brings out new GPUs, though they will still not rival the 1070 or 1080, that they will choose for the iMac.
