In a video uploaded to its YouTube channel in South Korea today, Apple showed off a handful of iPhone 17 Pro devices decorated with tiny stickers.

<SNIP>

The stickers are placed on the iPhone 17 Pro's so-called "plateau," the protruding aluminum area housing the rear cameras, an LED flash, a microphone, and the LiDAR Scanner. The video has the hashtags #PhoneDecor and #iPhoneCustomization.

"Stick it here," says Apple.

Probably not a good idea for resale value. And who is walking around with a iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max without a case?

People in these countries do and like that. Watch an online TV-channel from these regions. They like it. They are allowed to like it. We do not have to follow that. So: we just can not do and ignore it. They do not like our pristine phones without stickers.

Someday the camera Pangaea will overtake the whole back of the phone.

We’ll have so much more room for stickers!

Seems like a rubbish attempt at making the plateau look like a feature rather than intrusive design decision.

Not saying I know how to do it any better.

But just embrace the decision instead of trying to hide it like with the notch on the iPhone XS default wallpaper. 😂

If something like you want is already made, sure. My daughter covers her phone in various stickers, and changes them out monthly. Themes change based on mood and the seasons.

I think it's fun! More so than the boring gray continental-shelf on the back of the current Pro line.
Why though ?

"We can't actually get Siri to work the way we promised you over a year ago now... but look at the fun stickers! Look at them!!!"
