At first I didn't get why people are so annoyed by getting a free album, but I guess if it had been an artist I completely hate (see Bruno Mars, Kanye), I might kind of feel the same way.

This would have worked great in the 80's. I guess only a band from the 80's could have thought this was still a good idea thirty years later.

Regardless, this is freaking hilarious.

The album isn't even on your device unless you download it! Unreal.

Doesn't matter, it's in everyone's iCloud music account. This was a marketing deal between Apple and U2 which is being FORCED on users.

It is *exact* same tactic that VZ uses with Android phones. How would you feel if Apple did the same deal w/ VZ to auto install all iPhone 6's on VZW to include VZ Navigator? You'd be happy with that?

Same. Exact. Idea.

Then I would not listen to it and get on with my life.
It's not that freaking difficult.

So you won't complain if Apple makes a deal (like they did with u2) with Verizon to auto install VZ Navigator on all iPhone's on VZW?

Yeah... right.

If they downloaded a Bruno Mars album to my phone I would be annoyed because I had to fish my phone out of the trash after recovering from my initial reaction. But then I would have been over it.

Now if only there was a way to rid of other purchased songs...
Oh the folly of my youth...

I'm not a huge fan of U2, but i respect them enough as an artist to give them a listen, and i really enjoyed their album! Though, truthfully, i wouldn't not have gone out of my way to buy it on my own haha

Ungrateful? No one asked for the album. What if it was some country music or rap or something you don't like.

Then I wouldn't listen to it and hide the album in the purchase list which is really easy to do already.

People are acting like Apple forced them to listen to it.

Wow. People are really this ungrateful.

No they're just not as clueless as some are.

You fail to understand what Apple did to benefit themselves and U2. A rather nefarious scheme.

Instead you were gullible and played right into Apple's clever scheme to take advantage of everyone who lives in Apple's walled garden, the word captives comes to mind.

U2 is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and an argument could be made that they are indeed the greatest.

If you don't like U2's music, then there is something wrong with you. This is what happens when an entire generation of kids grows up on Britney spears and Justin Bieber. No wonder the millennials are the worst generation in US history.

I was born in the 70's, I love rock music - bands like AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica... All of my era, yet I hate U2's music. It's just people's personal preference. Bono is also a smugtard.

... and others are commenting on it because they can. It's so wonderful to be so inane and uninformative with our posts. I love the 1st Amendment!

As someone who doesn't really care about U2, I don't really understand the fuss tbh. I think people are just making a stink because they can.

guess you never use shuffle ALL songs on any of your devices.

No, you're not getting the issue.

Again, Like I've presented a number of times on this post. This is the same issue if Apple were to make a deal with VZW to auto install VZ Navigator on all future VZW iPhones.

How would you feel about that? It's called CRAP WARE which often happens on a LOT of VZ Android phones.

That's the issue.

Never used an iphone before so I could be wrong. But hiding it still means it's on your phone and it'll take up space.

This is nothing but bloatware to me

What you like or what you don't like! It was given free period as a gift, no two people have the exact same liking with everything.
Hide it, delete it or do whatever you want, but complaining about it just shows your values as a human being.

Take it or leave it or hide it. "What is the big deal already"?

So, don't complain if Apple were to do a deal w/ VZW to auto install their crap ware VZ Navigator on all VZW Iphones. Because guess what,it's the exact same issue.

This is CRAP WARE in the form of "free music."

People complaining about a free album is the definition of a first world problem.

This is true. But I'd hope you wouldn't complain if Apple filled your iDevice with 50gb of free, non-removable junk you didn't want. But like you say "first world problems"...

Oddly many of us live in first world countries, the fact you've probably bought Apple products rather than saved all year for a schoolbook probably puts you in the "first world problem" bracket too, many people are condescending without realizing they're in no position to talk.

Thank God I hate U2 and Bono with a passion. I'm not ungrateful I just don't want to support hypocritical wankers like Bono and his terrible music.

Your taste in music is hard rock. U2 is modern rock and mainstream. I stand by my assertion that if you don't like U2, then there is something wrong with you.

Also, the fact that you use a term like "smugtard" makes me think you are a millennial.

I actually love U2, but that's not the point of this discussion.

So next time, if Apple makes a deal with Verizon to auto install VZ Navigator on iPhone 6... you won't complain right?

Because... first world problems...

This is different. Even if apple didn't release this tool, you can still hide iCloud purchases. It won't appear in your library. Problem solved.

Why can't we just "hide" the purchase like we can hide all others (it means you still have access to if you want, but you have to unhide it from your iTunes account page).

It's unbelievable how people complain about free music from a great band.

I guess you can never make everyone happy.
