Yep, you either buy the $1000 stand or a $200 vesa adapter to stick it on a monitor arm (probably not going less than $100-150 for a nice one) or a vesa stand (also not necessarily that cheap).

When I was pondering it, I resolved that I'd get a vesa stand for like $50 and the adapter.. I never did buy the monitor though lol.
 
Surely a product that’s done more to harm Apple with negative PR than it has benefitted their bottom line.

If a company is shown to be clearly extorting customers with one product, it demonstrates they are open to the practice and creates mistrust from customers across the product line.

Nah. I mean anything is possible. But the VESA adapter was “sold out” at Apple.com for a few weeks earlier this summer; it’s now back in stock. And historically the display‘s lead time has occasionally fluctuated.
 
man and i just saved the pennies to finally get one. Off to ebay I go. Thanks Apple #sarcasm

What’s exactly wrong with the price of this? It’s sold to the target market of people buying a $5000 display. In this context, the price elasticity of the best stand of the market (by far) is ridiculously low. How many more sales would they have got if it was $499?

Anyone have one sell it on ebay maybe a sucker will bid and pay double the price limited edition now sent a email to Tim cook anymore stock on this product looking to purchase ten.

All kidding aside I love my XDR and even the super expensive stand.

I don’t think they are showing anything. They just need a stand and this is the best and in their budget.

As much as I think the stand is too expensive, by that “raw material” logic, I believe there is less raw material in an iPhone.
 
This is such an unexpected plot twist... what next, will they run out of the Apple Polishing Cloth™ too? 🫢

Ahh, yes, but it was designed by Ive (or at least in his image), which as everyone knowns means it was designed by a god.

The price notwithstanding, that's a very nice stand btw. Precision tilting and magnetic connector are two of my most favorite features of this stand.

"Precision tilting" is a feature? I would expect any stand that tilts to do it well, otherwise it's not fit for purpose.
