Well, it was a test by Apple to see how much stupidity its (Apple) fans can take. Looks like they found out.
I never said Unity should give it away for free. At this moment, I can't even test unity on AVP device other than a 30 day trialwhy should Unity give the software away for free
There's a lot of doubt that it'll happen. It's got cutting edge tech, but unfortunately cutting edge tech isn't enough to make the product compelling.Read the linked article in the OP. Kuo cites the 700-800k as being "market consensus". You'll have to ask him for sources or clarification on exactly what that means. Maybe he saw what you said and believed it? Are you saying that wouldn't be a good idea??
Also, read your own article you posted:
"It is currently estimated that new models with significant changes to the Vision Pro specification may not be in mass production until 2027." To me this implies an AVP 2.
"Kuo does expect a modified Vision Pro to enter mass production in late 2025 to early 2026, but he said Apple is focused on improving costs and production, leading him to believe that the "user experience will not differ from the current model." It is possible these changes might not even be announced to the public, beyond a potential price cut. To me this implies an under the hood revision to the existing device that results in cheaper production costs for Apple. It sounds like there is some doubt that this will happen now.
It's both.Price is not the issue, it’s the lack of a use case.
That’s the key. Get this under $2K and it makes sense as a potential iPad Pro replacement. Add support for more than 1 external Mac display, and optimize more apps for it.I want one of these, I can afford one of these, but I don't have a reason to buy it and $3,500 is not an impulse purchase.
I'd bite at under $2k though... And I know that because I bought the original Oculus Rift with an Alienware PC for about that amount.
Of course price is an issue, and likely the main issue. Its a luxury for most.Price is not the issue, it’s the lack of a use case.
It does: if you work on many windows, having that much space available makes a huge difference, and the speed of interaction makes it a very good productivity tool. This product has 0 use cases.. that's why.
So what is the difference with a computer with screens and a mouse? A use case is already solved with existing technology. It does: if you work on many windows, having that much space available makes a huge difference, and the speed of interaction makes it a very good productivity tool.
I organize tours around the world, I constantly use several notes, excel, mail, multiple safari windows, photos, Skype, and more.
If I had the money, I'd buy it instantly.
Do macrumors’ users realize that Vision Pro pack so much technology, it will become cheaper over time thanks to innovation, bigger productions…Do Apple still not realise that not all of their customers are billionaires.
Same as iphone?Do macrumors’ users realize that Vision Pro pack so much technology, it will become cheaper over time thanks to innovation, bigger productions…
What concerns me the most though, is not my own ego, but how people in Apple couldn't see that coming from miles if readers/consumers like us were already aware of all the shortcomings while not in the secrets of this industry.
