And isn't every iPhone tied to an iCloud account and practically worthless when stolen?

Thieves usually strip stolen iPhones for parts or scam unsuspecting buyers. In the UK, 80% of stolen phones are iPhones. So this pricey “sock” basically works as an iPhone locator — and it’d take a truly twisted Android user to buy one.

Yes, I honestly think Steve Jobs would have signed up for this. He liked nice things. He spent about $20,000 just on his collection of black Issey Miyake turtlenecks.

Genuinely thought this was a joke at first, especially with that price tag! They are taking the piss, as we say in the UK.

Will probably see knock-offs on Temu for £1 anyway!

My first thought when I heard of this thing and that Apple was charging some "ridiculous" price for it, I expected to see something in the neighbourhood of $70-$100. Even at $50 I would consider $20 to be actually paying for the thing and the other $30 to be paying for the Apple logo on the thing.

Then I came and saw the actual price. My word.

Must have missed this amazing news when it was announced. Only picked up on jt when it made national news due to the amount of ridicule.

What kind of utter bell end would pay so much for this nonsense?

Makes the $500 wheels looks good value.

I, for one, am glad for our new sock wearing overlords at Apple thinking more about launching idiotic products at idiotic prices rather than focusing on such mundane things like.. fixing iOS26.

People think this stuff is easy and mock. I bet you cant find a seam on these 'socks' for example.
But really they are for a minor group tbh and even though I appreciate the design and how they are made, I wont be getting one.

Indeed, Issey Miyake makes really beautiful clothes, paying attention to detail. Unfortunately he passed away, but the company still makes incredible clothing.

It's really strange how the posters react to this news. I mean, they say they like Apple products because of their attention to detail, making beautiful products. Yet this threat is filled with naysayers, filled with people who don't 'understand' the product. Some even dislike the price. It's quite mind boggling.
