I would actually like this too. Not for $149 but for some far lesser amount of money a MacBook Air knit sleeve would be nice.

Anyone actually interested in these, at these prices, I think is quite price insensitive and not at all concerned with value.
Charge $499 ... make it a truly distinctive purchase.
Holy crap - I'm sitting here scrolling through the headlines: Nomad launches a card sized tracker? Nobody cares. Satellite connectivity in Mexico? One person might use it. HomePod Mini is expected soon? I'll believe it when I see it. The next iPhone might get different colors? Wow, who would have guessed. Apple might put a second camera on the iPhone Air 2? Seriously nobody cares. And then... the Holy Grail of all headlines that you expect to see on April Fool's Day: Apple has officially debuted a freaking SOCK TO HOLD YOUR PHONE. But it's limited edition! Get them while they're hot!

I think this is wonderful! It's the biggest homage Apple has given to Steve since his passing. Steve adored Issey, and this seems like a love letter to him. I'm certain almost everyone will vehemently hate it (understandble), but I'm so happy Apple gave Steve this nod.

Let’s give Apple the benefit of the doubt and say all the R&D, manufacturing tooling, packaging, marketing, etc truly does add up to $149.99. How can they justify $229.99 for the longer version? An extra $80! Boggles the mind.

Not that witty. Looked through 8 pages of comments and didn't see "Can't innovate anymore..." or "Courage" anywhere.
I think most are just stunned that this is a real product.
It's hard to even joke about it, as it's such a ridiculous concept and absolutely breathtaking ripoff.
I saw the article, and saw 200 comments. I'm not going to read them, but I can guess what they are. Just a reminder for everyone: you're really not forced to buy this. I promise you're not. It's fine. Also, another important thing to remember - the existence of this is not an attack on you, your identity or anything like that. Carry on.
People say that for every Apple accessory, and yet I prefer their cases to everything else out there. It's just a matter of taste. Now, I'm not buying this, but I can imagine this being really well made. And I can see people enjoying it, if they can comfortably afford it.
Somehow, these expensive accessories are always treated as some sort of personal insult by most of the internet.
