While I agree the 6 and especially the 6 plus will cause headaches for Samsung, I don't expect the runaway success of this year's launch to repeat itself at the levels we just saw when the 6s comes, and definitely not with the 7. There has been a huge pent-up demand for an iPhone with a bigger screen for a long time, and the fact that it finally came is what made this launch so spectacular. But by next time the novelty will have worn off...

First of all there are other forces at work here. A huge percentage of smartphone owners contracts are up this cycle. In fact the biggest in years. Some say it's over 100 million alone.. I'm not saying that but some analysts are.

I agree with you about the 7 but not the 6s. Why? The 6 brand will remain very high for one more cycle at least. That's my take.

Smart phone sales and turnover will undoubtedly slow down as saturation is near. Samsung itself keeps saying this over and over. Apple will not be immune from this slow down

Well, it's a good thing Apple followed in Samsung's footsteps then and decided to release bigger phones. Otherwise the iPhone 6 wouldn't have garnered as much attention as it has.

Thank you. You almost can say it played out perfectly in Apple's favor...

Why bother innovating when you can just take the easy road and do what your competition is doing?

I remember a time when Apple actually created new products instead of simply following the herd... :apple:

The 6 does have image stabilization, but it's electronic, while the 6 plus is optical.

I see. Its my background in photography coming through

yes I was referring to Optical. To be honest thats the one I have always considered as true IS.

Just read up on what they call Auto image stabilization.

I see apple calls it Auto image stabilization :) by taking four photos with a short exposure time and merging them.

They do both have image stabilization. Hell, the iPhone 4S had image stabilization. What you are thinking of is that the iPhone 6 Plus has OPTICAL image stabilization, which they did not reference specifically.

Correct. To be honest I've only ever considered optical to be true IS. Though that does put the ad into perspective. Cheers.

Uh, except they're not "new".

In fact, most tech sites are criticizing Apple for not going the full mile and matching the pixel density and resolution of their competitors.

iPhone 6 has a relatively low PPI and isn't even 1080p resolution. Its closest competitor, the Galaxy S5, has 1080p resolution and a much better PPI.

These screen sizes are only new to Apple, not to the rest of the tech world. iPhone 6 and 6+ are Apple's way of catching up to their competition, not surpassing them.

Don't you get it? Who cares what tech sites say? And do you understand that the iPhone 6 delivers on the things that matter? Do you think the rest of the world thinks like you do? Let me break it to you. They don't. You seem dismissive of the strength of the Apple brand. The fact that they indeed did make large screens new again shows you their brand power. If I or the marketing world bought into your argument then the iPhone 6 and Apples "gamble" should have been a utter failure and epic disaster and guess what... Critical acclaim has been good. Reaction to the phones has been good. Sales and demand are off the charts - for something only "new to Apple"...

Innovation is coming in other products. You'll see. Why should any company get into a race to just compete with your last great product?. Could that be the chief reason that Apple's profit on its devices crushes its competition?. I mean these are facts..

Justin TIMBERLAKE!!!

That does it. I'm going for Samsung.

P.S.
Remember the times Apple ads used to feature Maria Callas?

Yes, we get it. The iPhone 6+ is huge, but when you continue to repeat how huge it is, it just makes you sound like you're trying to play catchup. Kinda comes off being desperate.

I dont think you understand the ads very well. It's directly mocking Android/Samsung played by Timberlake's "huge" of which Sansung/ Android always claim their phone...physically while Fallon's "huge" meant iphone is more than just the size. If you look around Android sites now, that's all they claim "2 years ago" tech craps which is all about phone size. I think these are brilliant ads putting the comedy aspect aside.

I really really dislike these new Fallon-Timberlake ads. They don't feel Apple-like. Apple has traditionally rejected the horrible hyperactive style that you normally see in American TV ads, and now they seem to be capitulating to it.

Know what I like about them? They don't stoop to Samsung's level. They don't come right out and say, we're cool, they suck, come buy us instead.

And Megan Fox is better. Way BETTER !

She's ok, I guess. I mean she's no Beyoncé, but then again who is? # But yeah I like the ads. Maybe for the next ones they can even do a Beyoncé/Megan Fox ad, just to piss everybody off on this forum? Or hell just throw in a cameo from Justin Bieber and One Direction

Yes, I'll settle for Beyoncé too. ;)

there will be haters and lovers for these ads.

personally, i think these ads are ok .. it directly talks to the consumer about the phone's features ... unlike the competition where their emphasis is on their specs and bashing apple... specs are nice on paper..

Instead of basing how about you come up with a better idea? That's right, you can't.

This has always been one of the stupidest comments...of course we can criticise it without to be able to come up wth a better idea! I can easily go to a concert and "bash" the band without being able to play an instrument...of course I can go to an art exhibition and express my opinion about a painting without being able to use a brush.

Back to the point: I really enjoyed these ads.

Oww dear Apple, some false advertising there. They talk about Image Stabilisation, showing both the iphone 6 and iphone 6 Plus in the same shot, only the plus has it.

Disappointing. Surely the person who signed these off, knows their products??

both have image stabilization.. the difference is that one is more superior because it has the OPTICAL image stabilization - which for photographers like myself consider it as the TRUE IS ... so the ad is not in itself "false advertising" ... :D

Let's remind you all an ad from 2 years ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O99m7lebirE

Thats Right.. You I'm starting to feel that they'll market reachabilty with it with the same finger add.. It'll go like..

Justin- "your finger reaches from here to here, whoops I can't reach the top"

Jimmy- not to worry, just double tap the button, don't click just tap it , and see the magic"

Justin- hey! That's magic

Jimmy- or is it just common sense

Justin- pretty sure magic

Jimmy- that's why you lack common sense

Can't wait!
