I rather see an ad with gospel music and a video of Tim Cook's head explode with "It's courage" statement.

I find apples new ads to be stupid. Honestly, my favorite was the retina macbook pro ad they ran years ago for the 15 inch. short sweet and to the point.

Not every ad will speak to everyone the same, hence why they continue to change things up. That doesn't make them "stupid". That's purely subjective.

Nice ad, but not as nice as the Sony Bravida ad that was made with real jumping balls...
Sony Bravia Bouncy Balls Full HD 1080p - YouTube

Sony BRAVIA - Balls - Making of - YouTube

That ad does nothing for me. Too long, too slow, too abstract.

I don't see why everyone needs to rip apart their use of the word "Courage". It absolutely was courageous of them to remove the headphone jack - the responses speak for themselves... people have been emotionally wacko over that move, and a few months from now it'll be a non-issue.

Came in here to post this exact thought myself. After watching this new Apple ad I immediately thought of Soy's Bravia colourful balls advert from about nearly a decade ago.

Come on Apple you are better than this. Sure everything influences everything else but for Apple does advertising so well so why copy the theme from another tech firm.

It's courage when they don't use common sense. Was the creation of magic mouse 2 genius?

Are these screen effects something new for smart phones - or a catch up to android ?

Nice homage to "The Red Balloon" an absolute classic french film from 1956. If you enjoyed this you have to see the original it really is magical!

I remember seeing that when I was a kid. This ad immediately reminded me of that movie. Apple's recent commercials have been really great... this one is already one of my faves.

Yes, well said.

It's a nice ad. Pity I am not such a fan of the changes to the messages app though.

Messages is a bit of a cluttered mess. It's like they waited years watching everyone else expand their chat clients and then all in one release with iOS 10 said "alright, let's throw EVERYTHING at it." As much as I hate Facebook, the Messenger app by Facebook is so much better than Apple's mess in my opinion. It's clean, simple yet you can still do the extras (stickers, gifs etc.). Once you've used both for a while it's hard to go back to Messages by Apple.

Yeah I conduct business and communicate with people who generally don't live in Facebook, but thanks!

Must be CG. Really don't see how it would be possible to shoot this with real balloons. It would just be total chaos.
I'd say anything involving more than 8 balloons is CG. Everything else looked pretty easy to wrangle when you consider they probably spent about $20k to hire twenty wranglers to stand there all day holding balloons for camera.

Apple's had had an emotional punch. Sony's didn't connect with me. I'm sorry to see that those were real balls and I can see why they disabled comments for that video because people would complain -- rightly so -- about the carelessness about all the damages and littering they just did. Plus that video was like a minute too long.

Would've been better had they used the Ricky Nelson rendition instead of the second coming of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.

Message's screens! Forget new Mac's, it's all about "Messages".

The new :apple:
