Or the reality is that everything is encrypted on iCloud and during its transmission to/from iCloud. As Apple clearly show here:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202303

Ok yes for clarity It may be encrypted but Apple can, and has, provided this data to third parties when compelled. So Apple can clearly access it in decrypted form.

Apple frequently talks in flowery language on these subjects and as the recent Siri revelations prove cannot be trusted to be upfront about who can access your data.

This for instance is my favourite part of that support document

End-to-end encrypted data
End-to-end encryption provides the highest level of data security. Your data is protected with a key derived from information unique to your device, combined with your device passcode, which only you know. No one else can access or read this data

  • Siri information

No one else can access it, apart from some contractors who don't even work for Apple sometimes..

Strangely, with Safari my avatar/icon does not show up (just the grey generic figure), but using Firefox it shows up nicely! odd that iCloud would work better in Firefox than in Apples own Safari!!

It might be, that the data is encrypted on disk on their servers (or the services they rent from AWS / Azure), but they have the KEY to unlock those files. So they can and will read private information about their trusting customers.

Any updates to storage tiers in the near future? Like less than 2TB and more than 200GB? Or even unlimited tier?
It's past time they make some kind of modification to this. My family shared plan of 200GB just maxed out so we upgraded to 2TB. I mean... that's great and all, but that's quite the jump.

It's time they finally come up with a reasonable solution, even if it's a small step like keeping 5GB free for iPhone but then adding additional storage per device, so maybe 10GB free for each iPad and 15GB free for each Mac. Or just stick with a tiny 5GB per device to start if the additional GBs are just too much for Apple to swallow.

Then upgrade the paid tiers to bring their offering up to date with the times, so something like 500GB, 1TB, 2TB. Maybe even just let people pay more and more per 500GB or per 1TB added and don't limit it to a 2TB max.

They should’ve put apple music
This and Podcasts online like Pocket Casts web player. And where's support for Apple News+ magazines? If Apple is so serious about services, why aren't they making it more compelling?

Most people with poor vision benefit from higher contrast UIs, and for most people, black-on-white is easier to read than white-on-black. The key word is “most”, and that’s why Apple provides a slew of accessibility settings for people with different needs.
Do not forget "halation" the halo around white letters on a dark background. Can cause astigmatism, ask someone who works with printing negatives.

WebAPI would offer cryptography...

There is no iMessage for the web because Apple does not want there to be. There are plenty of messaging solutions that are cross platform and work on web that offer end to end encryption, Signal is one of those.

Edit: Signal removed theirs but they had it at once, opting for the desktop client for windows/mac/bsd now.

Wouldn't it mean that Apple would need/store your encryption key to display your messages on the web? If that is the case wouldn't it mean that law enforcement could ask for those keys?

So, an all white background AND smaller icons!

Thanks Apple, from those of us with bad vision we applaud this idiotic move.

Maybe just change the default size of the iCloud site in Safari? Problem instantly solved. It's not Apple's fault you have bad vision. (Mine's not getting any better either.)

iCloud still feels year behind Microsoft, google or even yahoo online platforms. I love Apple and I wish they really invested more into this platform. I would love to use iCloud for my primary email address.

FWIW, while the overall look of the beta is nice, I continue to take issue with Apple's design's for not making good use of screen space. Today's monitors are (a) high resolution, and (b) frequently large. For example, I'm using a 34" ultra wide at 3440x1440. Though not a roadblock issue by any mean, the beta site's icon are now TINY on my screen. How does that improve anything? I would rather see Apple focused on making the best use of whatever screen space is available.

No, but it is Apple's CHOICE to make the icons smaller.

The web-based iWork apps remain unusable from a loading-time standpoint. These apps are definitely getting old in the tooth and are getting lapped by both Microsoft and Google's offering in the same arena.

please tell me they finally updated notes
[doublepost=1566524985][/doublepost]no notes update and no auto dark mode

Notes is good in iCloud. Not as powerful as on client but good. At least it reflects what we do on a Mac or iOS.

I wish they would put iMessage in this so I can have iMessage on any computer I use.

IMessage is in “iCloud” yet Craig F forgot:

A) to place it inside of iCloud; probably for security reasons a snot all iCloud users are 2FA yet.

B) STILL hasn’t sync iMessage to WatchOS! I don’t want anything else until this happens!

All it takes is a psycho ex to send just the rightly worded sms/iMessage to your number and you’re done for! You can delete on Mac and on iOS but it remains on watch and with watch once it’s unlicked ion your wrist wifey can turn your hand over and see the message and you may wake up on an island Bobbet’d!

I completely agree. And I’ll take stability over “innovation” any day.

Agreed on the stability issue, but I still have issues with their PACE of innovation. Consider iDevices. Bundling all of the Apple apps into the OS means that they are limited to perhaps 4-5 releases every year. That's fine for an OS, but is a serious limitation for apps. Imagine what could occur if the <pick your favorite> app could be updated every week or two (or three). They would be able to quickly address issues, add new features, etc.

The bubbles was a bad Windows Vista joke, at least they have shadow on icons now. Mail looks horrible as always, a bunch of cyan hard lines everywhere.

I have a custom domain set up in Gmail / G Suite as my primary email address (got it when you could use Google Apps for free, which I guess they now call G Suite Legacy Free Edition). I'm guessing Apple will never provide a comparable solution, but I wish they would, so I could migrate everything to iCloud and get it out of Google's hands.

Agreed. The forced app release cycle has always seemed strange, though I have no clue what labors or concerns are involved in the process.

And yet STILL no IMessages section to it. COME ON APPLE WE WANNA ACCESS IMESSAGE FROM A FLIPPING PAGE THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
