1. There was a dispute between Eric Eslao and a woman in 2007.

The woman called Eric's mobile three times trying to resolve it, but wouldn't return calls:

2. Eric Eslao is now an Apple employee, a producer that may have worked on this ad.

3. Eric was apologetic for the incident.

Hypothesis:
The ad is a subtle apology to that woman in the 2007 incident, with Eric making four returned phone calls.

Wow. That is incredible sleuthery.

I will say that the scenario in the commercial is most likely just meant to depict a fight between two partners, but....yeah you're probably right about this. Awesome job.

Wow!!!!!
Excellent sleuthing.

Noticed the ads all had average weather, and definitely noticed no rain or water. Weather is unpredictable. Im still shocked a watch this price is not waterproof.

Apple is being conservative about selling the water resistence, but it's VERY water resistant (no such thing as waterproof). Have you seen the Apple Watch torture test video? They left it in a bucket of water for 5 minutes and it was completely fine, then went swimming with it and it was completely fine.

These spots are seriously some of the best that Apple has done. They're nailing the aspirational yet slightly messy and real feeling.

Has anyone seen these on TV yet?

Wow.

The watch is here! The watch is here! Um...it's a friggin watch people. Lol. Seriously. I'm an Apple fan, but even I think these ads have an overblown sense of self importance.

Clearly you haven't grasped the meaning of Ad :D This is very mild, if you want to see the real overblown sense of self importance just look at any of Samsung ads.

That is some amazing sleuthing. I am amazed the segment made the ad. It’s incredibly honest to portray in an ad about communication, that not all communication is positive.

Incredible ad for sure.

RE: Water & Weather

Noticed the ads all had average weather, and definitely noticed no rain or water. Weather is unpredictable. Im still shocked a watch this price is not waterproof.
It's water resistant and that's pretty good—or didn't you see the video here of the Australians dunking it in buckets and swimming with it? It'll do fine in the rain so long as it's not a flood. If it's a flood, well, you're not going to be worried about the watch.

And the "Us" add has both snow and rain.

The "US" ad is horrible, its like "sending the message" of reasons not to actual talk to one another.
Um...that's not what I got from the ad. In fact, I got the exact opposite. Give it another viewing. All the people who are apart use the watch to keep "connected"—sending heartbeats, emojis, short messages. But all the couples that are together (the two taking photos, the two entering the room, the friends meeting and hugging) are actually talking. Unlike, say, teens with phones who aren't talking or looking at each other, just at their phones. The only exception to this are the couple who are studying, but then they're supposed to be studying not talking.

So the message of the ad (at least the one I got) is that the watch keeps people in touch/connected when apart, but in no wise takes the place of actually talking to one another. This includes the couple that has a disagreement. The messages keep them connected through this difficult time, but none of them are taking the place of them actually talking to each other. The short, "I'm sorry" messages are, at best, like the flowers the man buys.

You wouldn't say that an ad for buying apology flowers implies that people should exchange flowers rather than actually talking to each other, would you? So why would a quick "I'm sorry" message on a watch do so? Especially if the person apologizing wasn't that the one they hurt wanted to talk to them yet? I think the "Us" ad gets across that the watch is simply a way to feel together when separated from someone we very much want to talk to. That, at least, is what I took from it.

Great adds. Love the song played in them.

What musician is playing during these ads? Siri gives me a different answer every time I try ;)

Anyone know what the song is in these commercials? Shazam and SoundHound are both clueless, making me think it's original just for the commercial. Would love to be shown otherwise though.

Instrumental version of OneRepublic's Au Revoir, perhaps?

+1 on the sleuthing, man, very interesting. cool.

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say these ads were directed by david fincher. another reason trent r. did the music.

they all look like fincher. very well done. top of the class indeed.

In a lot of these vignettes you can't even see the Watch. Selling something relatively small and unobtrusive is kind of hard to do.

Still, what I saw of the Watch did not really impress me. It's still pretty bulky and not really something I would want on my wrist (and unlike many complainers here, I do wear watches).

I thought the watch was supposed to act like a remote for the camera, so you could set up the camera and then press a button on the watch face to activate the shutter and take a nice remote shot? Yet in the 3rd spot, it looks like the woman sets up the camera and then runs to get in the shot like it was on a timer? We never see the guy tap his watch to activate the shutter. Am i missing something? This seems oddly staged to me. Otherwise, the spots are typically subtle and nice Apple marketing.

I just watched it on tv and rewound a few times. The guy taps his watch while she runs back and apparently starts the timer on the phone so by the time she gets back and the camera shoots, he is able to put his watch arm down. Which is good because a picture of you tapping the watch would be kind of lame.

Honestly, the fanboyism in this thread is overwhelming. Must every slight criticism someone makes be met with a complete backlash? Sheesh.

At the end of the day, as much as I love certain Apple products, these watches fall into the camp of products I'm not so much on board with.

While the commercials themselves were inspirational: a bunch of idealistic looking, independent, determined and focused hipsters doing their thing, living their lives, discovering themselves, at this point, I'm more interested in seeing actual advancements in technology. Something new. Not incremental upgrades, added bells and whistles, or pointless gadgets. Something new and innovative!

Plus, when it comes to watches, I'm a traditional guy. Rolex, Omega, Raymond Weil, Cartier. Something fashionable, not something techy. To each their own.

It is much less bulky than my previous watch. It is incredibly comfortable and you soon forget you wear it.

Just goes to show what can be done with a "price is no object" budget.

Apple becomes unstoppable.

Samsung is merely emulating Apple.

With a head start building a brand in tech, unlimited budget, and the Apple Disciples, no other company has a chance. The others are left to play catch up.

Color me impressed! Thanks!!

Sorry, my post was intended for people who not only know how to read, but understand what they're reading.

I said "receiving the most marketing effort" that doesn't equate to other products not being marketed at all.

Now you know the difference. You're welcome.

In 18 months it won't be the same device and may not be as useless. You're welcome again.

Wow you're an obnoxious forum troll. OK, so please present your evidence that the Watch has received the most marketing effort compared to past product launches.

I wonder what it's like to derive my worth from being arrogant and rude to strangers on an Internet forum.

Mindblown!

By the way, I really love the ads!

These are still the some of the best ads Apple has ever created. I was skeptical at first when I saw that the ads were showcasing actual people using the product and not just highlighting the design of the product (like most other ads by Apple), but they did these perfectly and made great story lines for each ad.

And don't even get me started on the music.

I think Ive solved the puzzle...
