Bull ****.

First of all: it is crappy design. Look at that two thing sticks out.

Second: If I go to a field trip, 5 hours play back is too short. I still remember people mocking Samsung when they released their Bluetooth headphone.

AirPods deliver an industry-leading4 5 hours of listening time on one charge.3 And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.5 Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time.6 To check the battery, hold the AirPods next to your iPhone or ask Siri “How’s the battery on my AirPods?”

I thought these were going to be overpriced at $100 only to find out they're $150 lol! They look terrible and have terrible battery life. Good luck apple

Exactly what I was thinking reading these comments. I have a few pairs of Bluetooth earbuds and have been looking for "truly wireless" and was considering the Bragi dash, but waited on this announcement. 300 vs 150? With almost twice the battery life, better connection and ease of use. And this is a bad deal HOW?

Do people just want apple to give them free stuff or what? Jesus Christ man

The Dash have Heart Rate monitor, audio transparency and other features that the AirPods don't have. A better comparison would be to the Bragi The Headphone which will retail for $150 and will stay in your ears. The Apple units will have a better bluetooth connection.

I wonder how quickly they will recharge to 100% in that case?

that's key...could i drop them in the case when i walk to the office break room and then come back and have another half-hour of play time with just 5 minutes charge?

Based on the comments and complaints I assume most people aren't familiar with the average price and battery life for this type of product is.

5 hours of battery life and $149-$159 or whatever it is, is actually very very good.

Samsungs versions cost $199 with 1.5-2 hours of battery life

Bragi Dash are $300 with 3 hours of battery life

I just wonder how well they work when running. Really try to bounce around and have them fall out.

And how do they work if it starts raining?

Brilliant move by Apple. People will be losing one or both of their AirPods all the time. Just make sure to only sell them in pairs, so if you lose 1, you still have to buy another full pair.

Sounds like a great business to get into. I will sell you one for $100. And then I will sell the other one to someone else for $100. Sell the case for $40 or something.

BUT I suspect the Bragi headphone will have better sound quality because they have a real seal on the ear, like my jaybirds. I just tried on my old EarPods and couldn't believe how bad the sound quality was.

So, cool tech and decent price but I don't think I'll be picking them up. Maybe the Bragi headphone when it comes out in November

Most people will find the stereo speakers very useful.

Very useful? Doubt it. Stereo speakers on a phone are about as useful as a football bat. Seriously, how many people are using the speakers on their phone to listen to music or watch a video?

Looks like some people just need to complain. Apple went out of their way to make the transition as painless as possible. They give you a free pair of earbuds with each phone. They also toss in an adapter for those of us that have expensive headphones we don't want to immediately replace. Then they design a set of industry leading wireless earbuds. 5 hours of continuous music. A 15 minute for 3 hour charge time and a battery pack that holds a charge for 24 hours. What the devil are people complaining about? o_O

Because Apple is supposed to be the leader in design and these are bizarre looking, and if you've ever used Apple's other earpods that these are almost an exact copy of with the wires cut off, they do not stay in your ear.

What don't you understand?

Can definitely say I won't be owning these.

While they look ok. I only wear non over ear types of headphones when I workout. I can see these falling on the floor every few minutes.

Setting aside the BT issues with the Dash (I don't have many issues with the BT with the current OS) teh Bragi are excellent headphones - the seal on my ear gives great noise blocking - I am not a high end audiophile - and if I was I wouldn't be using Apple's headphones either.

I think The Headphone will deliver a much better experience than the AirPods.

I think that it is great that Apple have moved into this space as it will lift the whole market. My only concern is that they have made the user experience of switching between devices better but only for AirPods - which means in all likelihood switching between devices for other BT ear buds will not improve, - and it needs to improve.

You signed up to Macrumors to troll but you suck at even that

Actually I have been frequenting this site for years. Have been a fanboy for years. Excitedly stood in line to purchase every iPhone, the first iPod... I recently signed up to the forums in an attempt to vent my frustrations at the lack of innovation.

I just read a blog regarding today's keynote. The author summed it up best when he said "Every announcement and product launch for the past 2–3 years has felt like a stiff reminder that we are living with a post Steve Jobs version of Apple".

My apologies for the negative comments. I really, really want to still love and support Apple products, but my frustration at the end of each of these keynotes has got the best of me. Again please accept my apologies.

FWIW, I really do not like the look of the new headphones. Just my opinion. When I heard the rumors I thought they would work great for me while biking. Was really disappointed. The part that sticks down will get caught on the chin strap for sure.

The device is clever, but I have to admit, when I first saw it placed in an ear, I thought it was a conceptual mockup of the old earphones with the wire cut off. Might have been better, or at least, differently designed to create its own persona. Alas, Apple is becoming too elite in its costing structure for me.

I mean out of all the issues with iphones or even their wired earpods I don't beleive I've seen the news report any stories on a design flaw regarding the earpods not staying in peoples ears.

They stay in my ear under normal use.

That being said they do look strange without the wires considering they look almost identical to the wired versions.

Like I posted in another thread, I would consider an in-ear version for more noise blocking and better fit. This one won't fit my ears properly.

This crowd just mostly ripped into Woz the other day for calling the headphone jack removal a mistake.

If Jobs said that- and I think I recall he did- do you really want to set up a clash of the titans here... where this crowd has to choose to rip Jobs or rip Apple? It might cause some guys to completely meltdown to choose between God in human form and God in corporate form.;)

Edit: we recalled a Jobs quote wrong...

So dongles are OK!

Excuse the pedantry, but surely we are speaking of adapters and not dongles? A dongle is a completely different thing with a different function. eg. anti-piracy usb sticks for various softwares etc. I used to have one for Cubase.
You can't send an audio signal through a dongle...

To read this thread you'd think you'd see EarPods flying explosively out of people's ears wherever you go.

Yahoo is calling it a "Dongle" headline reads:

Apple thinks it can pacify headphone jack loyalists with this $9 dongle

Gizmodo is calling it a "Dongle" Headline reads:

Apple's Lightning Headphone Dongle Is Surprisingly Cheap

I've noticed some people complaining about how they look. They look like EarPods, without the wire. Exactly what they are.

In retrospect, it's such a 'duh!!' design. Of course they should take advantage of the stem for the battery and mic.

I look forward to seeing the design and technology evolve as this is now a priority for Apple. The Watch had already showed us that the future of audio is wireless. Apple now has a market leader. Let's see them push it along every year.

So if they fall out on public transport you're going to be crawling around on the floor after them, and if you do find them, you probably don't want to put them back in your ears.
