Just like what happened with FlickType. They got Watch App Store approval just for it to get revoked, and then a month later the app got Sherlocked in the Apple Watch Series 7. I can't wait for the trial.
FlikType got proper ****ed. I had no idea until I read their website/social media post about the whole ordeal. It was a damn shame what happened to them.

The best damn keyboard on Apple Watch and Apple straight up made one AND COULDN’T EVEN BOTHER TO RELEASE ON OLDER MODELS. “Sorry, Apple Watch 7 only”.

FlikType was able to manage on Apple Watch 6. why couldn’t Apple?

Anyways, go give them $8 or whatever for the Apple Watch keyboard. It’s gimped in its way of sending to people and it only works for messaging and can’t be used elsewhere, but the keyboard is amazing and works flawlessly once you get used to the way it has to work to send messages. I use it a lot.

I guess because I have the same apps I’ve had for years, the App Store is a cesspool of subscription based apps and most importantly, I don’t care.
This one wooed me with video memos, they are much like audio memos, but they are little video messages. Such a great way to passively video chat with someone :)

Imagine if there were multiple ways to install apps on iOS and Apple had to work hard to court developers to continue using the Apple App Store. Monopolistic arrangements breed laziness.
They would be too busy explaining to their current developers that the sudden drop in sales volume related to piracy is not coming from iOS. It would be the biggest cluster **** ever

Most of what I heard from that was a baby crying and bitching about everything. Wahhh, wahhh, wahhh!!!! Geez Pavel Durov, just put your thumb in your mouth and suck on it for a while until your tantrum passes. I do agree the 30% cut on in-app sales sounds rather excessive though.

What would you suggest a proper review time for an app update should be? A month? A year?

Sounds like probably BS. He probably doesn’t want to admit the real reason Apple is delaying the update and what’s to give them bad PR to pressure them into relenting and letting him get away with whatever sketchy thing he put in the update.

Why would he even bring it up then? It's not like there is a posted schedule of updates.

App Store reviews are down to 1-2 days for approval now and has been for some time (at least a couple years), so there is clearly something else going on here and they have no view or feedback from Apple into what it is
Actually, Apple rarely comments on these issues, so we don’t actually know what is going on. You’re taking his comments at face value, when he’s a known critic and could be just trying to prove a point.

App review does sound like a ****in mess and it needs to be improved...

But also, this dude gives off some ****** "don't you know who i am?" vibes. Its like those celebrities who have tantrums in the airport or restaurant because they don't get VIP treatment.

In 2021, a bot was found selling leaked phone numbers from Facebook.

The chairman of the public organization "Electronic Democracy" Volodymyr Flents on 11 May 2020 announced that a Telegram bot appeared on the Web, which sold the personal data of Ukrainian citizens. It is estimated that the bot contains data from 26 million Ukrainians registered in the Dіia application. However, subsequently, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov denied any data from the app being leaked.

The criminal activity of 25 people has already been confirmed and copies of 30 databases were seized.

A Telegram bot was blocked by Apple in 2020 after posting deepfake pornography.

Telegram reportedly banned more than 350,000 bots and channels in 2020, including those that contained child abuse and terrorism-related content.

Yes, we don't know what's going on, because Apple won't tell anyone. So the only person who we are hearing from is the developer (another in a long line) who is getting screwed by Apple's gatekeeping. Again.

Another reason why we need app distribution competition on iOS. There's a reason the Mac App Store has pretty much been abandoned since Apple pulls that crap there so developers ignore it entirely.

Edit: Dislike me all you want but you know I'm right. Do you really think developers would be using the iOS App Store if they had the choice? The Mac App Store is proof of that since macOS has miles better options for app distribution than that draconian storefront. Like it or not, competition's gonna have to come since the Digital Markets Act is law now in Europe.
You are talking as a nerd not as an average user. I worked 20 years with novices and average users, Mac app distribution is one of the thing that ruins their experience.

Literally every year during this time and Christmas time there is an app developer moaning about their app review taking long when this is generally the time most staff as on vacations and are away.

I know this is a quieter time at Apple my from my experience if there is a backlog of apps to be reviewed.

Imagine needing $100 billion dollars per year to pay the salary of 500 "experts". Where can I apply for this job where I make $200M/yr?
The cut Apple takes from profitable apps pays for dozens of different things. This includes for example all the servers they need to distribute apps, developer tools and training materials etc.

Arguments against the App Store often like to pretend that Apple’s cut is for just one thing, such as payment processing or intellectual property or in this case App Review. Pretending the cut is just for one thing makes it very easy to argue it is excessive. This is a kind of ‘straw man’ argument.

The reality is that very few developers pay Apple anything because most apps are free. Only a small fraction of apps make over 1 million dollars a year and the subject to the 30%. Developers are making far more many through the App Store than at any time in the history of computers. Apple created a ‘gold rush’ that has gone on for many years and created many multi-billion dollar apps. Meanwhile, Apple has enabled free or low income apps to be created and distributed for practically nothing.

It never ceases to amaze me when I read these kind of complaints; they want to bite the hand that feeds them... the devices and the entire infrastructure exists for you to succeed, but you want more (and damn the company that made it all possible).

You have app distribution competition, it's called Android. Apple has its rules that it developed for its private property: the App Store; you have your rules that you have developed for your private property: your wallet. Make it your rule to not give them your private property if you don't like the rules they attach to their private property. It's really simple.

In free market societies, we all have the power to vote with our dollars.
