Read this a bit ago on digg. Glad to know the iPhone will actually be a decent, updated phone this time around.

It would be interesting to see how Steve Jobs will reveal the next generation iPhone in his keynote.

It will not be this one that is for sure, back to the drawing board, still the buttons just seem to take apple in another direction.

Don't know why Gizmodo wouldn't return it to it's rightful owner in the first place. Instead they wanted to be all "look what we have". Apple should sue the **** out of them for it too. This is a good example of it. Gizmodo should be held liable as well. That will teach them to this kind of **** again.

Can't thet at least do a proper teardown (or let iFixit do one) before they give it back?

I'm guessing their lawyers warned them against it. That or they are drawing this out some more and we'll see it in a later post.

Hahaha...you guys make me laugh. :D

LAWL

This is epic. Well I think it's safe to say we won't be disappointed in the new iPhone. I guess all we have to do is wait to see what Gizmodo does next and to see how Steve Jobs presents the keynote, it would be funny if Apple mentioned this even during the presentation.

Hope they get their $5000 back HA

considering that one blog article got near 4 million views....i'm pretty sure they got it back and then some.

how much does near 4million page views equate in revenue though thats what i'd like to know

dang it, that thing is a really bad piece of design. What was it apple, did it take all you're creative genius to make a shape as simple as the ipad, and now you're shot? c'mon.

I bet it's some sort of crap prototype and in the finished product all of those "replace-the-battery-yourself" seems will be gone haha.

Those seems and crap giant buttons aren't very Apple-like I think they will disappear :)

ransom!

They'll just release either:

a. This one in different form factor
b. Back-up phone and leave this one till next gen.

It's WAY too late in the game to change the phone now. IF that is a production model, it won't change between now and June 22nd. However, I still hold hope that it was a prototype that will get cleaned up a bit before release. But by now manufacturers are already tooling up production lines to prepare enough inventory for launch.

With the amount of traffic they got due to their writeup I'm sure they found the $5000 to be a good investment.

Also, I'd like to point out California Penal Code Section 485:

Code:
One who finds lost property under circumstances which give him
knowledge of or means of inquiry as to the true owner, and who
appropriates such property to his own use, or to the use of another
person not entitled thereto, without first making reasonable and just
efforts to find the owner and to restore the property to him, is
guilty of theft.
