These look promising. But wouldn't these CPU's and GPU's throttle a lot in this thin chassy/display? As these are meant for Pro's and they are stationary computers wouldn't it be smarter to do something in order to achieve better thermal design? I don't think the intended audience really care if it got a slightly thicker design?

In order to increase the cooling, did they take away user-replaceable RAM???

It sure looks like it and I hope I'm wrong. If I can't upgrade the RAM myself, then I'm out. I don't mind paying the Apple Premium for a great device, but I'm not going to pay an additional premium for Apple's RAM nor will I spend that kind of money on a machine that I can't reasonably do a few upgrades myself.

BTW, I've received word from someone I trust that the maxed out configuration should come in around $12,000-$14,000.

This thing is a beast! Don't think it would be a home upgrade for me from my 2013 27" iMac as it's out of my price range. I can dream though!

Yet another shade of Space Grey! It's much darker than the MacBook Pro.

I've started to prefer silver on the Macbook Pro again, I think it looks great on the new models, it makes the Touch Bar look like Porshe design (though i've gone for Space Grey anyway on the last two, silver next time)
It actually looks the same. I have two MacBook Pro 2017 in the house and it looks exactly the same. The lighting could be a factor as to why it looks darker cause that’s how dark one of the MacBook pros we have look like. All due to the lighting.

I don't understand this machine, at all. Zero upgradeability, literally none. I can (barely) understand this mentality in a MacBook Pro as you want to have it thin an light, but what's the reason you cannot even upgrade the RAM in this? Add a back panel, let us add more ram and an additional stick of NVMe storage.
Couldn't agree more. Unbelievable if you can't upgrade at least the RAM. Especially with Apple's bananas RAM prices.

I saved up two years to buy a new iMac, and i got one.
I knew the pro was coming, and i would rather have that..

but this is already 3600 euro .. while that base model starts at 5000 euro+
I just .. even for freelance work .. i just can't justify it.

it's so pretty though.. sigh

Take my g*dmn money!.. NOW!

4TB SSD? 2 drives?

I saw that OWC makes 4 TB SSDs for the Mac Pro, so it's possible to have a single 4TB drive.

The cost of an extra 4GB RAM module on Apple's store can be up to $200. Now imagine the cost of all the internal upgrades added together. That's where you get the $5000 price tag from.

In order to increase the cooling, did they take away user-replaceable RAM???

I'm not seeing a door on the back like current 27" iMacs. I can understand wanting to make owners buy RAM upgrades upfront from Apple only, make profits for the shareholders, but this is ridiculous!

After seeing the iPhone X, those bezels are kinda gross. But as long as they don't have the iPhone's notch!

I'm surprised that the iMac Pro does not have a Touch Bar keyboard... Even if the Touch Bar would use a lot of battery, it's not a huge deal since these charge via lightning cable now, it's not the biggest hassle to keep this charged.
