That’s bs. Liberals acknowledge holes in logic all the time. Conservatives ignore the fact that liberals ever acknowledge the holes in their own logic so they can paint liberals as dishonest. The truth is liberals acknowledge their flaws and work to correct it whereas conservatives double down trying to keep things as they are or make them like they used to be.

I believe the report. Secondly I think Apple need to diversify back to the US and other western countries where most of its product is sold.

More recently, in Rumsfeld v. Forum for Academic and Institutional Rights (2006), Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. reiterated the essence of the compelled speech principle: “Some of this Court’s leading First Amendment precedents have established the principle that freedom of speech prohibits the government from telling people what they must say.”

The Court also employed the compelled speech doctrine in Wooley v. Maynard (1977) to rule that state officials could not punish a man for covering the state’s motto — “Live Free or Die” — on his license plate. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger declared, “The right to speak and the right to refrain from speaking are complementary components of the broader concept of ‘individual freedom of mind.’ ”
 
I have no idea what the people on this forum are on about half the time. Every time there’s a political story featured on MR it devolves into the same old “liberals vs conservatives” bollocks which accomplishes absolutely nothing and is completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

That’s exactly how it works. You cannot compel speech. It’s called the Compelled Speech Doctrine. The first Supreme Court case on it was

I don’t see how asking about to allegedly lie breaks a 1st amendment. After all Apple is not a person, well, maybe a judicial entity. Carry on...

Corporations are treated more or less as people when it comes to the first amendment. The main difference is purely commercial speech can be regulated.

By the way, see the Citizens United case re first amendment rights of corporations. It’s quite famous.

That’s not the issue. The issue is Supply Chain and workforce. Being in China, Apple is able to quickly access a massive workforce quickly during ramp up dates.

Furthermore, the world’s supply chain for technology is main focused in China. Many (over 90%) of the components are made in China. Hence logistics wise it makes sense.

Apple already tried to make iPhones cheaper somewhere else and failed due to those restrictions. There is a reason why the Brazilian or Indian iPhone are the same or a bit more expensive than the Chinese made iPhone.
they need to try again. Additionally there needs to be more suppliers of iPhone parts in the US. The problem is the US doesn’t have the resources and the US hasn’t been in the manufacturing/assembly game in awhile. Would take a significant amount of government and corporate investment to make such things happen.

There was collusion. Don jr admits he went to a meeting to get dirt on Hillary as “part of Russia’s support for trump” the amount of goalpost moving is extraordinary. In any other presidency that would have been a terminating scandal.
 
Apple should use their Trillion dollars and set up shop in another country or just buy or create their own. They need to be less dependent on Chinese manufacturing because this is only going to get worse.

I’d much rather have the design and engineering jobs than the manufacturing jobs that are all going to be replaced with robots anyway.

No there wasn’t. There is still no hard evidence. The media being loud doesn’t constitute anything to happen.

Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, nor am I wanting to make out that Apple (or any of the other companies) are liars, I'm just musing over what could've happened.
