Atomic Browser already does this stuff.... and more, including full screen mode and swipe to navigate (and other multitouch gestures).

Atomic Browser does these features to a degree, but only half way. Indeed it Tabs, and will open many pages, which you can come back to instead of the reload of Safari, but exit the Atomic Browser app and all is gone. One must reload all pages and tabs all over again.

Not very good...

I can't wait to print. My question is can you print only from a wifi printer or also from a printer connected to the time capsule? Anyone a idea?

I believe there'd be a big Keynote on it if another iPad was going to be released. One of their new hit products.... I doubt they'd just 'release' it.
But hey you never know, it's Apple! :apple:

There would be a keynote, but it could be a week or two or even a day before the release. You never know with Apple.

Agree or Disagree?

Printing and folders... Woopty do.

While I agree when the iPad was released to keep a similar UI was the best decision, I think the time has come to step it up. The same iPhone UI and layout is NOT appropriate or the best usage of iPad's almost 10" screen. It's getting old and I feel like this layout is made for senior citizens. From the weird spacing with the unlock screen, to all the Apps spread out.

What about something 3D? What about widgets? What about something feature rich like bumptop? (I'm not saying this solution, but this is an example of something RICH)

Interactive. Engaging. Feature rich.

I've had it since the day it came out... and I'm bored, man. :(

The whole way that iPod.app works is flawed IMHO. It seems like Apple punted on it and made it just a big version of the app on the iPhone, without taking advantage of the extra screen area.

Looking at the Twitter for iPad application, there's a whole lot more that iPod for iPad could be.

Coverflow - swipe down on the iPod application to drag it down over the library.

Artist / iTunes Store / Lyrics / etc could be an overlay that you swipe on from the right.

And so on. Haven't got an iPad so I can't really comment in detail (yeah, I'm waiting for iPad 2, pref. a 7" version).

Anyone who thinks Apple will release an updated iPad before Christmas is a victim of wishful thinking. Why would they? They are still going to sell a ton of them, and the supply just now caught up to the demand. From a business perspective it makes no sense. They do not currently need any additional drivers to motivate sales. After the holidays, everyone who would buy the revA will have one, and those who are waiting for revB as well as the early adopters will get something new to buy.

iMovie for iPad? I would really like to see that, anyone seen any comment?

It'll print from a printer connected to the TimeCapsule, Airport Extreme and Airport Express, of course.

I know that with 100% certainty.

I agree, but I'm sure they'll be a few little differences. Also, I wonder if a new iPad will be out by then. Steve did kind of slip and say HDR photos on the iPad or something...

Even though it's obvious now that the next iPad will have Facetime.

Unfortunately, Steve made quite a few slips, including constantly referring to the new iPod touch as "the phone". He really didn't look well.

I don't think it is obvious that the next iPad will have Facetime - I suspect a more expensive unit with front facing camera may be available from March/April of next year, but personally, I won't be buying one just for a camera - an ergonomic nightmare for video chat, unless it's on a stand on my desk (and I've already got an iMac for that). And a rear facing camera would be a nonsense - how on earth would you hold this thing as a camera to take photo's.

I think there were good reasons for this device not having a camera, including price point, processor power, battery life and security issues when used in enterprise settings. I don't think it's a 'given' that the next gen will have a camera, and if it does (nothing it for or against the argument) I think it will be a model based option, with higher price point.

Just speculation, probably completely wrong, but the camera isn't a deal breaker for me, or the other people who have bought this device, so why increase the price unnecessarily?

You're in a thread talking about wireless printing - what possible use can there be for a USB port? And where is the iPad expected to get the drivers for all the hardware you want to plug into it?

I'm a photographer and hoped to use the IPAD for travel. I take between 400-800 images a day and would easily welcome a USB port accessed file unload. Right now the only way is through POGOPLUG through the internet or jail breaking the IPAD, neither of which sounds like a useful idea.

I will wait for the release of other tablets to see which one best meets my requirements. Since all I have are Macs, clearly an Apple solution would be my choice, but for loading, viewing and storing I really want external storage through USB.

When will a dev preview be available?

Obviously no one here knows, but I can't wait to jump in on that buggy early IOS 4.2 beta 1 action. It's only my iPad, I can live with some bugginess. Any guesses? I'm hoping beta 1 one will be available this month???

Will Airplay work the other way? Can iTunes stream music or videos to an ipad?

Here here, that's what I want to know too. I was shocked it was available with the initial release of the iPad and for me it's one of most sought after features. Granted, the iPhone doesn't have it, but I never missed it. However since the iPad is a wi-fi device and I use it strictly within my house, I would expect it to act like my MacBook and recognize my shared iTunes library. C'mon Apple, get with it.

My most sought after iPad features:
1. Folders (same as it was for the iPhone pre-iOS 4)
2. Multitasking (even more important on the iPad than my iPhone)
3. AirTunes support (see above)
4. Retina display (as great as it is on the iPhone, it will blow everyone's socks off on the iPad and I could use the extra resolution when reading text)
5. Tabbed Safari browsing - the current method of switching between open screens is clunky and some kind of tabs feature would make a lot more sense
6. Printing - check :)
7. FaceTime - I don't need it, but it would be incredibly awesome to have.
8. CoverFlow in iTunes - Why isn't it there already?

I'm sure there are others but those are the ones that I think of the most.

Grab a camera connection kit - it has SD card and USB adapters. I upload my shots to the iPad while out on shoots (nikon and canon), it's great. No jailbreak required. Main reason I bought the device and it's great to show clients preview images on the iPad screen.

*sigh* Still no To Do Items with MobileMe sync, then? Jesus Christ, Apple, I can't be the only person who wants this. How much longer do I have to wait???

I don't think Jesus syncs with Mobile Me, nor is he Apple.

Yes it will - but not ONLY that.

Sure, didn't want to imply otherwise.

BTW: I'm hoping for a Retina-type Display (4x resolution, better blacks) in an iPad next march/april. 2x/4x RAM, Facetime, Apple A5 would be nice, too.
But until then, I enjoy my iPad, I bought on day1 a few months ago. Can't really understand people waiting a whole year joining revolutions for some minor features, but missing all the good stuff for such a long time. Remember: this stuff always sells at a good price if you sell it after a year and buy a new one.

1. Folders was demonstrated, that's coming.
2. Multitasking was demonstrated, that's coming.
3. Airtunes - likewise. (loved the demo with the iPad and the Apple TV)
4. No way, that would be expensive and very processor intensive - the price point would rocket.
5. Might be wrong, but I thought that was shown at the keynote? I'm sure with multi-tasking the process will become more intuitive, but again RAM and Graphics processing are against it.
6. Printing should be fab - I already do this through an app, but to have it built in, thank you Apple.
7. Why have facetime on a device without a camera, and do you really want people to look up your nose if you talk to them through this thing?
8.I think the coverflow thing is obvious - graphics processor power - it's ok on a tiny screen such as the phone, but 1024 x 768 pixels rendered animation on a machine with such tiny RAM is a struggle I'd imagine. I'd love to see it, but think it might make an appearance with increased processor power in rev 2.

Just my two-cents worth.

:)

what you say is just wrong. You can plug any digital camera directly via USB-cable to your iPad and import photos. Even RAW.

The camera connection-kit consists of 2 adaptors. One for SD-cards, one with a Standard USB-connector.

If you're a dev, you'll be informed. :)

um... I don't see why TV rentals won't be an option, because I rent movies currently on my old AppleTVs.

I really don't care about the netflix option - that kinda makes sense, but I can't rent TV shows just like I rent Movies now? I see no technical reason for this limitation. What are they in a different format? You can't add a codec?
