These patents represent Apple's great "innovations". My God, where has the world come to?

But not as well as Apple. Now I don't really care about Apple's finances, but I do get a kick when I see Samsung fanboys get so upset when they see how well Apple is doing.:D

$9.5B profit vs. $7.7B profit for Q1 2013. Sure Apple is generating more profit, but at the end of the day, they're both kicking butt and that's all that should matter.

And exactly why are they useless gimmicks?

They are useless to me. What exactly do you like about those features?

On the other hand, some of the stuff HTC is doing does interest me. I would love to have the front facing speakers. The screen is just perfect (not too big, not too small). The BlinkFeed as a home page is something that is interesting.

Sorry, nothing Samsung implemented in the S4 is appealing to me.

You must not do much with photography then.

But to each their own. Saying something is useless or gimmicky as an overall statement is silly - which is why you were called out for it. As you say - FOR YOU. Just because you wouldn't use it doesn't make it a gimmick.

Really? Because the idea just came from you. Are you a Samsun fanboy? I'm going to guess not. You brought up the idea of winning.
Nope, I'm not the one who brought up the idea of winning.:rolleyes:

I put two rolleyeyes in my post, so I win!;)

Yeah, you might be cocky now, but just you wait. I became the newest member of an elite, exclusive society just the other day.

...It's called Sam's Club. You might've heard of it.

They sell Hot Pockets in bulk.

I belong to Costco. And they OWN Sam's Club! So they are winning!!!

All I wish for is for their new Phone and OSX !!! :)

It doesn't matter if Apple litigates or not or if they win or lose. Its up to their intellectual properties and lawyers.

As far as Apple keeps churning out new and good products, I am happy camper. I own a lot of Apple products and they all work flawlessly, minus the maps fiasco.

You read the news and your immediate impulse is to say "Apple, innovate and don't litigate..." Which ironically is what Apple is trying to protect! Its patents on its innovations. If it gets trampled by one and all, what is the incentive to innovate?

I am not saying Apple is right or Samsung is wrong. Let the courts decide. We can watch from the sidelines and make personal decisions.

In the end make the decision for the products that work for YOU and not because A is filing a lawsuit against B for C,D and E etc....

I admit that recently I have been using Samsung Galaxy TAB Note 10.1 just so I can install XBMC and Navi - X plug in. Android still has some ways to go in terms of that butter smooth Apple interface.. but it gives us some freedom to install what we want. I will give Android platform, that!

Patents '604 and '959 cover a "universal interface for retrieval of information in a computer system." ... How much more vague can this be?
It's not that sentence that was rewarded with a patent, it was the lengthy and detailed description of its implementation that was. There's nothing evenly remotely vague about it.

Uh, did you actually read the whole patent describing APPLE'S OWN SPECIFIC IMPLEMENTATION of it? Or did you just read the short little blurb from macrumors describing what the patent is about?

I don't think you understand how the patent system works. You can have a million different patents from a million different companies about the exact same thing as long as they describe different implementations or methods to solve the problem they are trying to solve.

For example, there are are a bunch of patents for "an apparatus to control a moving vehicle" but these steering wheel patents describe entirely different ways to attach to and operate the steering system in cars.

Most people don't know or understand this fact about the patent system which makes them look clueless when posting about it.

Stopped reading after the first paragraph. It's great if you have time in your day to read full software patents... I wish I had that kind of time.

Apple, get your *********g useless fingers out your ass ... You can't even be bothered to bring out your own decent S4 competitor; choosing to spend more time in court.

Used to love Apple, hate them now!!!!

Sad to see this - Apple used to be cool but are now are just the greediest. Hate mixed with disappointment for the loss of soul of a company I have followed for 30 years.

I actually own the patent (613) "Something you hold in your hand." I'm just waiting for the right time to drop the bomb on the whole industry.

Funny they allow Google now on IOS yet when it is on samsung devices it violates patents. At least make it look like you actually want it all blocked and don't allow it on IOS apple. Come on lol

----------

I hope that apple really has something up their sleeve with IOS7 and the next iphone otherwise it will look like apple is just scared.( yes I know you should protect your patents, but why not go after google since it is their service(google now)

Apple worried?

Come on, this is ridiculous - are they going to keep adding every new major competitor product that worries them about loosing more than a lawsuit and team of lawyers will cost?

Been a big Apple fan, still am with Macbook Pro, but had to switch to Samsung & Google (love Android lately) as they are simply more innovative, have superior tech lately, and don't lock you into their pure ecosystem like Apple tries to do.

Apple, this "lock" you try to do on your users was your downfall in the past and history does tend to repeat itself - we'll see...

Apple should focus on beating the competition into the ground in the market place. The governments should eliminate the patent system.

And then have millions of people copy and make profit off of your idea/invention!

:D:apple:
