Let me summarize half the posts in this thread: I didn’t read the article but I love FaceID and anyone who has a different preference is stupid. I can’t see why people should be given a choice, they need to accept that I know what’s best for them.
Unless you have a mask on.Not sold on the idea I like facial recognition better.
Mentioned it before, but one of the reasons I prefer TouchID over FaceID was because it was on a button you could feel it as you picked up the phone and could unlock it long before it ever needed to see your face (or choose not to). I'm curious to how Apple is going to address this or I can see a possible issue of it unlocking the phone when you really don't want it to. If like FaceID it still requires you to swipe up then that defeats why I like it better in the first place.
LOL at the people literally complaining about having two options to securely unlock their device using biometrics. If you don't like touchID guess what, no one is forcing you to use it.
totally. my wife's skin is more dry than mine and she constantly complains about it, but no touch id issues though!)It’s not a big deal in normal life at all, and for me quite frankly, punching in my 10 digit passcode when I need to while wearing a mask is a minor minor inconvenience in comparison... but everyone is different, and that is ok
i'm not opposed to it at all, but i do think it's not one of the more needed features)That's true, but I bet Apple is working on this for the Watch. You wait and see![]()
Replacing facid would be a really bad thing

But can you use a tempered glass screen protector without issues? Most modern Android under-screen readers are pretty accurate. Never had issues with one except for older Samsung ones.
The only problem I have with adding TouchID is added cost, and you and I and everyone else will have to pay for that...FaceID is going nowhere, not with the billions they've invested in it, the big deal they made over increased security and the ongoing developments to further miniaturise the components.
If they're going to add TouchID it will be exactly that, an addition, not a replacement.
A thin one is usually fine. A thicker one or a cracked front display will render the fingerprint reader useless. Personally, I prefer the reader to be capacitive and on the power button like my Razer Phone has.But can you use a tempered glass screen protector without issues?
Touch id is my buy or not buy feature, if it has it, I will purchase the next iphone, if not, i will wait
I have been using the iPhone X since it came out with passcode, patiently waiting for touch id comeback.
