LOL, trying your hardest to avoid giving credit to the true innovator of that display. Exactly what I thought. All good.

You really need to do more research into product design vs manufacturing. I'm not taking sides, however you really need to look at the displays the same as other components. Take the A Series. They are fabbed primarily by TSMC. The architecture used in the etching of the chip is an Apple Design. Yes, a design that began by ARM, but licensed and vastly improved by Apple's Chip Design Team. The same applies to the OLED Display. Manufactured by Samsung to certain design specifications from Apple. That is why when these mine is better than yours diatribes appear every year the differences are extremely small. Software also plays a role in displays as in semiconductors. I do think down the road we will see Apple enter into it's own production of MicroLED with LG. Perhaps a joint venture or purchasing LG. Again , Apple taking a seed and growing it into a vibrant flower. Not all seeds grow. In fact most flounder these days, however in displays I think Apple is on the verge of a breakthrough. :apple:

Or
The less dependant Apple are on Samsung to provide them with anything, the better we will be as a species.

Take your choice of evil empire to hate.

I'm partially joking, but I was more-so digging at LG because of how commonly their parts seem to end up being faulty in Apple products. I'm not a Samsung fan but at least their stuff seems to be reliable! (maybe not their batteries...).

Again, Apple only calibrated a display. The guys at Best Buy also calibrate TVs, yet nobody goes around saying they have a Best Buy TV. Lol
Samsung developed and manufactured the displays Apple uses. Nothing difficult to understand.

Considering the current state of the art of mLEDs, such as theoretically taking ten minutes and costing $300 to make a single smartphone sized panel (which no one has done)...

...then if Apple uses them, their first implementation is very likely to be as a postage stamp sized AR/VR glasses display.

That, along with dashboard HUD projectors, seems to be a primary mLED focus right now.

I’d like to see some evidence that Apple had nothing to do with the design of the display beyond simple calibration.

As stated several times from Displaymate,

First we need to congratulate Samsung Display for developing and manufacturing the outstanding OLED display hardware in the iPhone X.

So I'm sure if Apple did more than just calibrate Samsung's world class displays, we'd hear about it. Sorta how Apple likes to go on an on about their CPU design. But by all means, ignore the logical scenario, and keep looking for something that gives Apple more credit than it deserves.

Oh, okay. A third party that has no real information on the mater says Samsung alone developed the OLED. Why didn’t you say so? As for whether or not I’m giving Apple too much credit? I didn’t say anything beyond asking for a good source.

From what I can tell? If Samsung were a person with a bloody knife and hovering over a dead body you would still find a way to push it to how Apple is bad.

For most, it's not difficult to understand.

Oh, OK, so you'll accept the praise DisplayMate gives the display in the X, but after that, their just some random run of the mill website. Right.

No? I think DisplayMate is a joke and a worthless website.

Edit: Regardless of their worth, though, they’d have no access to the business deals between Samsung and Apple.

Riiiight, but I'm sure you hold iVerge, Anandtech, and Apple Insider, in such high regard. You know, those highly informed and objective reveiwers.

Apple Insider is a joke. I don’t go to Anand beyond whenever they have an in depth look on a chipset. And the Verge seems to hate Apple these days almost as much as you do.

It seems like rumours for next iPhone X Plus model with the OLED display is true. This news suggested that Apple is now its own way to make its OLED display to replace Samsung’s OLED display in upcoming devices.
