Heh, I came in here just to chew all y'all out for voting Negative because I tend to assume Positive == a tribute/this is a worthwhile story vs Negative == "WTF is this crap doing on MacRumors!?"

I was thinking the same thing. "How could 238 people be so cruel as to rate this man a negative!! He was a positive!"

I voted pos as well. His life should be celebrated. Although I believe one of the mods should disable the voting for this thread. It's too distracting from the content and causes off topic discussion. <----See?

My Hat's Off to Mr. York

Jerry - we hardly knew ye!

The man leaves a tremendous legacy - past, present, and future...congratulations on a job well done, both personally and professionally.

Rest well, my friend.

RIP! And to hell with whoever voted positive.

Agree - to hell indeed for those heartless fools...still it's typical voting practices seen on this site quite often - I really find the ability to "vote" on a news article a complete waste anyways...esp if everyone is going to explain away votes with this "double-meaning" BS...

RIP to a man of apparent good character - may his family be comforted in this time...

RIP!!!

1 Corinthians 15:26

The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

One day death itself will be conquered....

RIP

I've been a Mac use since Bondi iMac in Fall 98 and I've been closely following Apple since, including few years working as a Mac Specialist at an Apple Store.

Apple was able to resurrect and blossom because of brilliant minds like Mr.York. Thank you so much Mr.York for sharing your gifts with Apple and the world. We will miss you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.:apple:

Family

isn't it interesting that Mac users are like a extended family? Sometimes the Waltons, sometimes the Simpsons. I think it is a sign of great corporate class that they took down the web site for a memorial. That is why I am a Mac user and always will be. The present is built on the efforts of many. RIP Jerry and thank you for saving the company.

haha it's hilarious to watch MacRumors members argue what the voting system is for.

A positive rating would be like "digging" an article on Digg; you think it's interesting, relevant, or news-worthy.

A negative rating would be like not "digging" an article for the opposite reasons.

Could we please retire that ridiculous euphemism "passed away" once and for all? You'd think a company with as much taste as Apple demonstrates would have the balls to just say that Jerome York DIED. I mean, they might as well say "he's gone to Jesus" or "crossed into the great beyond."

I despise euphemistic language - say what needs to be said, don't sugarcoat it with obtuse and flowery language.

To quote the late, great George Carlin:

"Thanks to our fear of dying in this country, I won't have to die -- I'll pass away...or I'll expire like a magazine subscription."

"I'm tellin' ya, some of this language makes me wanna vomit. Well, maybe not vomit....makes me want to engage in an involuntary personal protein spill!"

When will we see Jobs on the frontpage? He does look sick too on the last photos there were posted on Macrumors.

When will we see Jobs on the frontpage? He does look sick too on the last photos there were posted on Macrumors.

In the next few months when he's announcing the new iPhone. He looks better.

Speaking of inappropriate comments, Jesus Diaz's bit on Gizmodo was in horrible taste. It's been edited now (by Brian Lam) but if I was Jobs i'd ban Gizmodo from all Apple events while they still employed him.

Instead of posting 'RIP's' for someone you dont know, and Apple putting it on the homepage, would it not be better to put the worldwide pricing of the iPad up instead?

Complete ********.

RIP old stranger that I've never met
