Introducing the new Apple Magic Keyboard.

Simplicity.

Because we know you know how to type.

Just so long as it has the homing bars on the F and J keys....

Still, it sucks.. Space Gray is not an iMac Pro exclusive color. MacBook, MacBook Air, iPad Pro, iPhone and Apple Watch all come in Space Gray.
So if you bought a Space Gray MBA, MBP and/or iPad Pro, it’s not rare to expect yout to want Space Gray accessories too.

I think the mistake was that Apple marketed the space gray mouse as something uniquely paired with the (gray) iMac Pro. And since the (gray) iMac Pro was a niche-selling (and limited lifespan) device, the overall sales of the separately-purchased space gray mouse probably resulted in horribly-low sales numbers.

Unacceptably low sales numbers is a prime reason for any company to discontinue production of any device.

I agree it sucks. Grey/grey is one of my favorite colors, obviously since my personal iPhone is space gray. But I also understand Apple's decisions based on sales numbers and business policy.

My next iMac will have to be Blue, hahahah!😂

The color isn't exclusive, correct. But, that's why I qualified it to just the iMac Pro in the iMac product line. Why? Who knows.

But the iMac Pro is discontinued. The M1 Mac mini doesn't have space gray as an option. Neither does the 2020 Mac Pro. The 2018 Intel mac mini does... but, you know it'll disappear once the M1x Mini launches. If they were going to have a space gray M1x mini - they'd keep the KB and mouse around. But they're discontinuing them. So, to me, the likely hood of a Space Gray M1x seem nil.

They could’ve also released them separately from the iMac Pro because the Mac Pro was also Space Grey-ish but only had white keyboards.

Holy apologists!

It’s an idiotic design choice. Yes, let’s put the port on the bottom so the mouse can’t be used, and also sits on your desk like something is underneath it.

Some of us don’t use our home computer for weeks. Some of us don’t always keep our computer on 24/7.
I'm not sure how I am an apologist because it doesn't bother me and the aggressive griping about it is comical.

Also, nothing you just said refutes the wisdom of my post :)

I think this take is probably right. Apple branded accessories are expensive and Apple mostly sells laptops. If memory serves, the space gray options came at a mild premium as well. How many people are spending the money on Apple peripherals in the age of Amazon and of those purchasers, how many feel it's worth paying a premium for a color approaching black?

Not many, I'd think. Why waste the inventory space?

This thread having so many comments, cant read them all atm, so whats the rumors - new Magic trackpad 3 and Magic mouse 3 incoming or not?
Looking into buying MT2 for iPP, not sure should I wait or not, before the space gray color is completely sold out.

Basically, I think people can't see why they discontinued at least the trackpad. Understandable if they are redesigning the Keyboard or mouse. But some think that maybe all three are discontinued completely (all three axed at the same time - still available while supply lasts) because no more iMac Pro or Mac mini in space grey (mini in space grey's days are probably numbered).

The new trackpad with the iMac has rounder corners alongside the new keyboards, and the mice have new color matching rails underneath. So all three old designs being discontinued makes sense.

Some believe "maybe" space grey has had its day and will be gone (I don't think so). But if what you say is true (time will tell) , then if someone does not like the new round or color match-type look (space grey might get another shade of grey) or is concerned about compatibility with older models, it might be time to run out and get them before they are gone.

I think the Intel Space Grey Mac mini will stick around until the rumored M2 Mac mini Pro comes out likely in November or next March... And that might be when you see a redesigned space grey keyboard with Touch ID, Mouse & Trackpad come out.

I really wish that I could live with the full-size keyboard, but it just places my hands too far apart on the desk, with too much travel for my right hand switching between them both. And doing that a thousand times a day, for the sake of having something that I don't need or want. Also, I don't want to get used to something that I then don't have when switching to my laptop.

This is what I'm struggling to grasp, I'd assume that the compact keyboard would be a way better seller than the full-size keyboard, but maybe I'm wrong? So yes, I get that they only officially released the space-grey full-size version for the iMac Pro, but wouldn't there have been an iMac Pro user market that would have preferred a compact size in the first place?

Maybe you get used to it, but I've tried to space my compact keyboard and trackpad out as if it was full-size, and it feels horrendous.

All the sad observations on this discontinuation of the grey keyboard and supposed end of space grey Apple hardware in general don’t include the very real possibility of new space grey hardware with a new space grey keyboard - but this time with touch ID.

Im hoping for an upgraded iMAC Pro in the form of a 30" new M1X iMac.
By that I mean with 10GBe and 2 TB bus's......
