Can’t wait for my new 16” MBP w/64Gb/4Tb so I can virtualize windows 2019 server as well as all my other windows server variants … this speed is gonna rock my socks off, fo shizzle … oh wait, I can’t do that

How long before reviewers have their hands on one? I want to see what this notch looks like up close, and if there are OS options to lower the Menubar below it so I won't "virtually" see it - similar to how it looks when apps are in full screen..
You know what the absolute best thing about the "Notch" in the new macbook? Apple is a trend setter.

Just let that sink in... 😉 😏 😈

Still too expensive, so I'll stick to Windows for my main machine. £3300 for the one with the good GPU in it as a base price LOL! It's the one I need as a gamer, and it's as powerful as a laptop version of the 3070 apparently. However those Laptops are £1000-1500, so I'd just buy one of those. I would much rather sacrifice other things than the GPU, give me a plastic body, I'm sick of the aluminium build any ways as it scratches and dents.

I have a MacBook Air M1 which is a great casual Laptop, but the price again kills me. Everyone saying Intel is dead... not at those prices.

Could not stand / care for the Touchbar - check
Missed SD Card reader - check
Wanted more battery life instead of thin design - check
More processing power is always welcome - double check
Missed the "standard" USB ports ... still missing

I was worried when Apple introduced the Touchbar MBPs. But I was able to hold out long enough with my Unibody MBP. This model got me excited again. It was worth the wait.

Thank you Apple!

Haha yea it’s been a minute for sure. I got married a couple weeks back so that’s been my focus all year. Plus, not a ton of exciting Apple news really. For the first time in a while, I skipped the iPhone this year. I also wanted a new Apple watch but I was unimpressed with the 7. I feel like this is the first product since the 2018 iPad Pro that has gotten me interested again. We went with the base model 14 inch. My wife does graphic design and will get much more use out of it, but I wanted a new toy so I’ll be creating a profile on there as well. I’ll likely stick with the iPad Pro for day to day work, but mess around with the new MacBook Pro. I was very interested in the Air, more my speed, but I was waiting for the redesign.
Congrats man! I agree, slow year for exciting news. I went with the M1 Air as it was too good a deal. Also rocking my 2018 iPad Pro still. One of the best products Apple has made in the last several years in my opinion when you look at how well performance and design has held up. Congrats on the new MacBook Pro as well. Very tempting product I definitely don’t need. 😃

I gonna wait a bit, maybe half a year, until the prices drop a bit and/or I can snatch a refurbed unit. Can't pick between the higher 14" and entry 16" yet, tough choice as 15" 2015 owner. But both options gonna be awesome.

Also, @Babygotfont you really seem to behave a baby, or what is the reason to spam random 🤣😡😳☹️ emotes under every posting here? Go and get a hobby, seriously, if you have nothing relevant to contribute.

Should've done this a year ago as those Intel CPUs were obsolete even then. Better late than never though.

Bye Intel.

It was a good move in 2005. We've had incredible machines throughout the years, and it sure helped the Mac platform to mature. Just a pity they couldn't keep up with the expectations and their promises. It's incredible how far Apple has come with chip development. These new chips are not a little bit better than their predecessors. They're miles ahead. In fact, they are so far ahead you might wonder what both AMD, Intel, and Nvidia have been doing for the last years.

So...I acknowledge there are people who live in "Mac OS only mode".

But there are arguably a fair number of people who use Bootcamp or other tools to boot Windows, because MacBooks run Windows better than most PCs.

My understanding is that these M chips don't support Bootcamp.

If that's so...this would more feel like a dealbreaker, and I suspect by the time these start getting in the wild, you will start seeing these raging complaints.

My question is, why are people tolerating what (if true) is a huge step back?

It’s so weird to see people rooting against competition. I’d love for Intel to catch up because it will force Apple to make even better stuff.
I'm not saying I don't want Intel to try and even succeed. Frankly they need a good kick in the pants right now. They've been flailing around for better part of the past decade. Right now they can't even seem to catch AMD let alone Apple. That's why I'm happy to see what Apple and AMD are putting out.

So I was the only one who liked the magic toolbar, eh?
I had a really hard time getting excited about it. really, it was 100% useless to me aside from the biometrics (fingerprint input). very gimicky, and 99% of what it did could be done with simple scripting, much more rapidly, which effectively made it a bright-shiny taking up useful real estate..

@Babygotfont Is there a reason you are angry with this post?

You are likely in an incredibly small minority of users out there who think this is a huge step back.

There are several threads here regarding various ways to run Windows on AS, it is definitely doable. Windows for ARM is just going to get better and better, so my assumption is that is that given time it will not be a an issue.

Also, as already mentioned, although there are quite a few Bootcampers, that number is minuscule compared to the total number of Mac users.

(That said, I am a little surprised that Apple hasn't kept one Intel laptop in the lineup, at least for now.)

The 13" Macbook Pro makes no sense, should have been called Macbook like the earlier 2015-2019 model. Or just not made as it is redundant with the Air.
