I'm guessing this comes down to greed. Apple wanted a nice cut to allow these game platforms to have access to the Apple customers. Consumers lose again.

Is there some way Apple can bring good games from Xbox and Playstation to Apple Arcade. Games could be played with controllers if the issue is on-screen controls.

The best scenario is still to have developers willing to port AAA titles like Metroid or doom eternal to iOS devices, but I guess the chances of that happening is fairly low, both due to iOS users being conditioned to not be willing to pay so much (I have a switch and hesitate at paying $60 for a game title), and these games being the wrong sort of gaming for iPhone users (they necessitate a game controller and that you set aside a fair amount of time to play).

The games you find in Apple Arcade tells you all you need to know about the kind of customer Apple is trying to court with their vision of gaming. Simple to pick up and play, good time wasters, broad appeal, which are often at odds with console games which demand the opposite - that you block out 2-3 hours of the day.

Barring that, I expect that the answer is to get a windows PC or dedicated console for your gaming needs, because it looks like Apple is not too bothered by not having said game titles on their platform.

First, it was Microsoft now it’s Sony lol. Said it earlier Apple gaming is way too good. Apple is untouchable. Apple gaming is on ? ?

In 1982, when Nintendo had no presence in North America, they went to Atari and said they've got this nice little game machine that's popular in Japan. They asked Atari to distribute it for them under the Atari brand with a per-unit royalty for Nintendo. There was a deal in the works, when a new Atari CEO killed the deal because they thought the in-house Atari 7800 would own the market and they'd make more money without a partner. In 1984 Atari was bankrupt.

Apple gaming isn't even good enough to qualify as a pathetic joke. They would have been much better off with a piece of the Sony and MS pie because anyone who cares about gaming also has to buy there hardware elsewhere. I'm typing this on my MBP, but my primary computer is a windows desktop, and the only reason I even have windows in my home is gaming. Timmy can't see the forest for the trees, but what do you expect from a bean counter who has zero interest in tech and took out an ad campaign to brag that he didn't even know what a computer is.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft understands mobile gaming. They are Adobe huffing about how Apple won't put Flash on the iPhone.

It would be great if Apple were able to make a really good remote to work with their games, Nintendo, Xbox, & PS. I read reviews of expensive X Box & PS remotes breaking & failing all the time…

Apple's understanding of mobile gaming is freemium-hell, pay-to-win crapware.....and (ROFL) Apple Arcade.
And doesn't depend on legacy input devices, extended play sessions, or generation exclusive titles.

The issues you described are bloatware developers and the consoles have them in spades. Halo Infinite, 2K games, and the like are all riddled with it. Sony tries to pretend their consoles don't have the same issues but 29% of Playstation revenue comes from microtransactions. Scummy developers are an industry problem.

News articles are saying Apple will have gaming for the upcoming high-end AR/VR goggles. This means games will have to be much better than what is currently available for Apple users. They will likely need to attract the same developers making games for PC, Xbox, and Playstation.

If you think a modern gaming controller is a legacy input device and games are better off without it, then it's clear you have no actual interest or experience in gaming and I wonder why you're posting in this thread. I can't describe how good it feels to pick up my controller, but then anyone who actually enjoys gaming would know the feeling and I wouldn't have to describe it. Even a company as dense about games as Apple eventually figured out they were totally dead in the water without supporting the mainstream controllers.

I'm not sure what you mean by extended play session. Is watching a 2 hour movie too extended a time to spend on entertainment? Do you think all anyone wants for entertainment is a 5 minute youtube video on a 5 inch screen or a round of candy crush? Did you even read the summary this thread is about; it's about bringing big AAA games to mobile platforms, if you have no interest in big AAA games and think all the positives about them are negatives, you're simply not the target market here, feel free to go back to your Clan Royale and Monster Strike. Or is Sneaky Sasquatch and Tint more your pace. Either way, good for you, enjoy what you like. The product this thread is about isn't for you.

Console/pc gaming has some bad actors and things like loot boxes which are easily avoided by people who are bothered by such things as I am. You're trying to deflect from the fact that that's literally all Apple has except for a handful of crap in Arcade that looks like high school student term projects. And you started this thread by literally saying neither MS nor Sony understand mobile gaming and they're huffing like adobe about flash. Even by your own later "numbers", Sony is 29% tainted with the scum that has ruined 100% of the Apple platform. How does that mean Apple gets it and Sony doesn't?

Apple can’t stop game streaming, if a user really want to, there is a way. Once the device and software has been released it’s only a matter of time before it’s cracked. In Anya case Sony’s service is mediocre. And quiet frankly I would not get it. Slow, braindead policies, and a lack of ps1 , ps 2, psp, ps vita games.

It's really a shame you wrote all of that because I stopped reading after the first sentence. It's unreasonable to require a controller on a mobile device because people won't have them in line at the grocery store, nor will they have the time to connect actually play a game. Mobile games should be designed for 30 seconds of play up to 5 minutes maximum.

Why is everybody acting like it’s not possible to run these services on an iOS device or Mac?

You can use Xbox Cloud Gaming through safari with zero problems, and this is also true of Stadia and Geforce Now.

If you want to run these services, do it, and stop complaining that you can’t.

the problem of streaming is lantency. maybe you not work around with remote server windows in china , usa . Its horrible waiting. so normal vps with terminal only the choice,

Greed is not a useful explanation for anything. Am I greedy because I negotiate for a better pay or contract? Why don’t I ask what is the lowest they want to pay me and accept it. Or are they greedy because they want to pay me less. Profit maximization is not the end all be all of anything but trying to explain behaviors we don’t like with simplistic explanations like “greed” is not interesting.

Depending on if these deals ever went through or not... Imagine actually having a real use for all of that hardware power in that 13" iPad Pro, minus fumbling with touch controls of course
These are all streaming services. A machine in the cloud is doing the heavy lifting and just streaming the pixels to your Mac. The bottleneck is your network connection, your M1 chip is barely being utilized

Judging from the earlier interactions with Microsoft, Apple will want to approve every game. You’re not gonna be getting AAA stuff like Last of Us or anything rated M. The only things that’ll pass are like Astros playground

Everyone says that with Apple, we are not the product, but clearly we ARE the product. Apple thinks they OWN us just because we made a 1 time purchase of what should have been a general computing device, and our parents dictating what can and cannot be on that device. Can’t believe people defend a company acting like helicopter parents

It would be nice if they would finally bring PS Now to the Mac. I would be very interested.
