Good for Apple for helping.

Though I keep thinking 6,6 earthquake? Uhm.. Try 8,8. Now THAT was an earthquake.

Still, my bests to China during this difficult time.

Why are you trying to turn this into some charity epeen contest and bringing Samsung up? Oh that is right... gotta sate that hatred hard-on you have for Samsung and Koreans right?

Samsung = weasels. It has nothing to do with Koreans in general.

The "epeen contest" was launched early in this thread by those complaining about Apple's donation.

As for "hatred hard-ons," I can only look at your user name and wonder.

Yeah and the earlier article "Apple Returns 5-8 Million Defective iPhones to Foxconn?" should have said "Apple Donates 5-8 Million iPhones to Chinese Earthquake Victims" :D

While it's great that Apple is donating to help out these victims in China, how about donating to help people in our own country?

I'm always sceptical about fund raising such as this - i.e., Haiti, Tsunami 2004 etc. A good proportion of the money ends up in the wrong hands - making rich people richer instead of going to the people who actually need it.

Regarding Haiti you are 100% all that money goes to the big players.

God gesture Apple.
I feel very guilty, I did not even know this had happened.
Up here around Boston the news is still almost exclusively about the Marathon bombings and the aftermath.

Tell that the parents of the dead child.

Sometimes I still wonder what this world has turned into.

Honestly he was not the first and not the last child to die in such act :( still doesnt make it any less sad.

Again, what does this article really have to do with Samsung?

Your comment makes me think of this... "But mom! He started it!"

I'm sorry. You missed the point. The point being - your anger/hostility towards Samsung is misplaced here. Why you feel the need to divert the attention from the act of giving to being about Samsung is beyond me.

As I said earlier - it shouldn't matter who gave first or second. Let's appreciate the fact that companies are rallying (whatever their reasons are) to help those in need. Period.

That's the point.

Whether your sensitivities can handle the truth or not here it is:

Apple is majorly kissing butt by donating this money...they have been kissing Chinese butt for several years now..what ever China wants China gets..Period

The Chinese market is more important to Apple than any other, including the American Market...we are Poor and have no money, we are a Nation of Losers compared to the Potential of the Chinese Market..and Apple knows it very well. China is not saddled with crazy Liberal-Authored environmental laws designed to get everyone into birkenstocks and onto horses while the rest of the world advances.

Apple doesn't care about Chinese people in need....the 8 million is an investment.

China is a rich country. China could take care of this problem themselves but won't. It goes against their DNA. In China people have little if any value...fact of life.

China is taking advantage of Apple and of "Western Christian Charity"

Apple is not to be commended for doing anything here...it just is what it is.

The US is much richer than China and will be for at least your and my life last. The Chinese government may have a lot of money under its name (illusionary, in fact, I say), but that’s all, regular Chinese people are way poorer than US people.

Steve Jobs would never have approved this...

edit-someone beat me to it.

Knowing the Chinese govt officials...
I wonder what percentage if any of the 8 million actually reach the victims...

I'm going to get SO much hate for this comment, but...

You can't do anything once someone dies. If they die, it's tragic and all, but there's nothing you can do about it. No amount of money is going to help you get over it, unless you're that kind of person so upset that you can't... I don't know... Use that person as your wallet anymore? Maybe for medical assistance, but your insurance could pay for that.

It's much worse when you lose your house. I mean, pretty much none of us can just go looking for a new one the next day like nothing ever happened. We don't have the deposit in our bank accounts to make that happen. It's really hard to recover from that, you don't have a house, you don't have a car, and your life is just gone, everything. You have to start over completely.

Actually your comment doesn't bother me at all but if you already knew you were going to get so much hate for your comment then why post it? Was it so you could enjoy reading it yourself? ;).

Not trying to be self-rightous but take the high road, this isn't a forum for pissing people off so if you know you're going to do that then be kind enough and restrain yourself.
