Where is the red line for 47 supporters?

I understand that you dislike him as President. I've never felt that way about any sitting president, even ones that I didn't agree with or like things that they did, I was always able to find something good they did throughout their presidency. I guess you aren't capable or willing to try that.
What is your redline? What can he do that would get you to stop saying “but at least he saved us some money”.

Fraud, corruption, bribery, murder, socializing companies, selling the protection of our military to countries that support terrorism, threatening protesters with military action, pardoning people who beat law enforcement officers? He’s crossed them all in my book.

Remember this when Apple talks about environmentalism or saving lives. They're bankrolling a ballroom for the guy that hates renewable energy and foreigners.

Could be investing this in their products and services. Could be spending this on furthering their climate goals. Nah. Gotta suck up to the King of Clean Coal and Diet Coke.
You do realize this likely won't be done until the end of Trump's current term or the very start of his third term, correct?

I can say that about multiple presidents. My red line is the same red line as any president, when their term ends and a new president is voted in. I'm not for three-terms or whatever nonsense people make up. I'm for up to two-terms and that is all, next president. He was voted in and he has a term to serve. If Biden didn't drop out and was re-elected, he'd have a term to serve. If Kamala Harris was elected, she'd have a term and possibly another to serve.

I don't care whose term it is. I'd be equally outraged regardless if it was Don or Joe or Barack or George or the other George or whoever might come after.

The hell does a president need a ballroom for, anyways?

He doesn’t. It’s an ego stroke. SNAP benefits are getting really to end for millions…insurance rates are going to skyrocket for millions…and his priority is this gaudy ballroom. And that’s a quote from his press secretary. Disgusting. The worst part is that this 90,000 sq ft. monstrosity will dwarf the actual White House. 😡

So you’d support a president who decided to nuke every major city in the US? Or send everyone that disagrees with him to the gas chamber? As long as their term hadn’t expired, of course!

Personally, I think that’s an insane position.

It's a beautiful project. It will be a part of the White House for decades to come.

Can't you people appreciate it for its beauty and not because it's Orange Man Bad?
If I squint hard, I can see some reason for building a ballroom with more square footage than the former East Wing's East Room, so the White House can hold larger events entirely indoors instead of needing tents outdoors about 100 yards away to hold the overflow from those larger events. The East Room, now demolished, held only about 200 people, which is much smaller than many White House events.

But Trump started this project by outright lying that it would somehow leave the entire East Wing untouched, and just be an addition attached to it. He knew that wasn't true from the start. It's also likely far larger and taller than is needed, in order to suit Trump's ego, leaving his mark on the White House that people will see long after he's gone. We don't know what the final design will be, since that has to go through an approval process by several federal agencies, but the Trump administration is already talking out of both sides of its mouth on this, saying when asked that they'll comply with the normal construction permitting process, while at the same time they've also begun to say that since demolition on the White House grounds is up to the president, building whatever the president wants on the grounds after that demolition is also somehow allowed, though the laws explicitly say this isn't true.

The whole thing stinks, but it's Trump, so nobody is surprised.

I wouldn't support a president doing that, is the current one doing that? I haven't seen him or any other US president do that.

Interesting post as the GOP right now is trying to scare people into blaming Democrats for the government shutdown by saying that on Nov 1 they won’t get their SNAP benefits. Seems that republicans are fans of that welfare spending when it’s convenient.
The Republicans voted for the budget. The Democrats, particularly Schumer, are crying as always. They’re keeping the government closed over extending the temporary Covid tax credits that are due to expire at the end of the year. Seems quite ridiculous to me. Because of Schumer and the Dems, Trump has the ability to fire large amounts of non-essential federal employees.

If working age people actually got up off their behind and went to work, they wouldn’t have to rely on the marketplace for permanent insurance coverage. The insurance marketplace is meant to be a temporary safety net — not a permanent benefit. Be a productive member of society if you want healthcare coverage. Exceptions should only be made for those that are physically incapable of working. You have people that haven’t worked since 2020 receiving “free” healthcare on the taxpayer dime with $0 deductibles. These people show up to job interviews in pajamas to fill their unemployment requirements, and then continue to not work because they don’t want to. Meanwhile, the working class pays $75 a week for a family healthcare plan that attaches a $10,000 deductible to their plan.

@arn The entire East Wing has been torn down. Not sure Juli’s contact information. The article claims it was only partially torn down.

This detail seems extremely important.

Trump himself has publicly said multiple times for months that he'd like a third term, and would try for one, or just not leave at the end of his second term. This has been a well-known story covered by many news outlets. So you're acknowledging that Trump is making up nonsense?

Republicans control the Presidency, The Senate, and The House. It’s the Trump Shutdown…his third government shutdown.

"A government shutdown falls on the president's lack of leadership. I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top. A shutdown means the president is weak." - Donald Trump 2013
