I talked to Apple the other day (called a store) and they said that some units will be available for walk ins but no hints as to how many. They also said the maximum is 2 phones per person.

With the Airdrop, for all we know they had 20 units available now but tomorrow morning they get a shipment with 500+. It can happen.

I am going to either go midnight tonight or I will go at around 5 AM or so. Maybe it will be too late by then but if its too late for the + I will get the regular black 6 and try to be happy with it. :)

This is what I was told too.

We are talking about stock for people queuing and walking in. Most of that stock has gone to pre-orders, reserved for collection and carriers.

Yeah because Apple is going to give all their stock to pre-orders only and allocate only 8000 total to all their stores worldwide....really?

Yo dudes, a heads up: I spoke to the manager of my local Apple store and he said that the iphone pluses will be very scarce for a while but he seemed confident he'd be getting more than 20. If you line up early enough, you should walk out with one. I've known this guy for years so Id trust this info (for his store anyway).

Strangely, they did exactly that last year.

Again, that was just a color, not the same thing. Also, I am not saying they will not be, scarce. They will be for the next month, but saying there will only be 20 per Apple store on launch day is nuts, especially when retail employees don't know yet how many they may have.

And then this happened: http://bgr.com/2014/09/18/iphone-6-release-date-inventory-exclusive/

Hm :/ started to second guess myself on lining up...

It looks like those are all for partner locations and not actual Apple Stores, though the stock at Apple Store is sure to be very limited, I would buy the 20 at each Apple store at most.

It wasn't "just a color." It was a phone model. More rumors are popping up now.

I guess we'll see in just about 15 hours...

I can never understand why on earth these companies provide such low inventory on launch day? Do they want to create Panic?

What % of 6+ buyers are going to walk out with a 6 after standing in line and getting shut out on the +?. I bet a bunch since the urge for something new and shiny will be great after waiting in line.

Accoding to news reports, multiple stores in Melbourne, AUS (where the phone is already on sale) had only 1 (ONE) 6+ in stock when the store opened.

What kind of store? Apple Retail? Mobile Provider? Target? - That will give us a bit more information.

We should be hearing more from all those Aussies about their experience.

Agreed, plus if you decide to wait 3-4 weeks to order a plus it then screws you for the next upgrade as now your date is sometime in October. This is going to be biblical tonight/tomorrow with people fighting for spaces in line and dealing with disappointment.

Was at a major London store last year (White City) - they had something like 1000 Space Grey phones, 50 Silver ones, and 2 Gold ones...

Had heard beforehand that Gold was in very limited supply and heard the same for 6 Plus this year.

I think these "outrageously low stock" claims are made intentionally to keep away people that are willing to just wait a little. So that there's more stock for people that are more committed, and less diehards are disappointed at the store.

It's almost 11 in Tokyo and noon in Sydney - Surely by now there are plenty of 6+ buyers, or upset 6+ wanters who were in line early this morning.

Can anyone in those cities comment about the 6+ stock at the Apple retail stores?

Friend at my local store says they have a very low supply of Plus'. Probably won't even bother waiting in line.
