I'm not surprised AT ALL. The 6 Plus is in much lower stock, and higher demand. Good luck getting one tomorrow, anyone who didn't preorder!

you guys realize this means apple made less than 10,000 iphone 6+ for in-store selling, which is highly unlikely.

While 10,000 is somewhat unlikely, its not that crazy to think that Apple sold most of their stock of 6+'s in the preorders (I think they underestimated demand) and due to issues in the factory there aren't going to be that many for walk-ins on launch day.

Right, but that article also states that they are making 400k regular 6 units per day, while I think over time the regular 6 will be more popular, on launch day demand for the 6+ will probably be higher. This is going to be a problem given how much fewer 6+'s are being made.

I could see that the first shipment might have been mostly preordered units and the blind drop is going to be whatever is left so that is why the employee's store only received 20 units. I doubt most stores will only receive 20 units, but the 6+ is going to go very fast, maybe not as fast as the gold phones did last year, but probably close. Also, if you want a specific carrier/color/size combo, unless you are among the first few in line, its probably not worth waiting.

Wouldn't it be safe to say that if you are the 50th or lower in line you could get a 6+ ?

Just to say, the language the guy used is accurate, as I used to work for Apple myself.

Drop orders, just so you know is an apple thing. Basically, the store has no idea of the stock it is going to get until 24 hours, if not less before.

They appear on an inventory portal. Around launch, they are drop orders. Think of it almost as Airdropping supplies....you don't know when or what is coming, until it pretty much arrives.

As ridiculous as it sounds, I actually think this guy was telling the truth, having experienced the iPhone 5 launch whilst working for Apple.

Source: I was an Apple Employee as a Genius for over a year.

Also, I can tell you why the post was removed. Whilst working for Apple, 3 of my colleagues were sacked for posting information on the internet.

One of them was for simply putting "Excited" on Facebook, with the location Mapped at a yet-to-be opened store whilst we were "Building it". They take this sort of thing seriously.

Probably not. While 20 seems a bit low, based on this guy and other rumblings I doubt stores are going to get more than 50-100 6+'s that aren't already preordered. Given the scalper issue, 50th in line might be a bit too far back.

Well in my area Scaplers are not that much as we have 5 apple stores in a 30 mile radius.

You realize you guys are just making things up right? There are no solid numbers to go off of... Everything mentioned means NOTHING in real life. You just have to be patient and see. Wow...

This time of the year really brings out how impatient people get, it's really insane.

Totally agree but it's natural ;) We all want answers and people crave being informed. The unknown makes people nervous haha.

Apple and Foxconn are really disappointing me here. We need our phones launch day. Waiting a few weeks is ridiculous. Their workers should really be trying harder.

Apple loves the publicity of launch day, and I can't imagine they want the cameras rolling tomorrow morning when 95% of the crowd gets nothing. Will the blue shirts be clapping when everybody leaves the store furious. Especially those that were camping out for 10-12 hours?

With the new (???) 10 iPhone per person rule, they might be sold out before the 3rd person in line get's in the store. Just seems crazy to me. I know inventory will be low on the plus, but talk about a public relations nightmare. You would think if apple knew 99% of the crowds get nothing in line tomorrow, they would tell everybody in advance that the 6 will be the only phone available for walk ins.

If I had to guess, 95% of the crowd is camping for the plus nationwide. The 6 was pretty easy to preorder online.

Of course, but it's not called MacSPECULATION.com is it? People are losing touch with reality, in all seriousness.

The only reason I come to this site around this launch time is for updates on peoples real life shipments, and order info. Other than that, some of these posts are not only way off topic, but way out of touch.

All the people doubting the information and genuinely believing it to be a scalper conspiracy (...), what do YOU think then in regards to plus supplies?

Regarding the authenticity of the poster, he was in fact a retail employee. The knowledge of specific terms and procedures that he spoke about are not things that average Joes know about.

Whether or not his claims of low stock of 6+ are true or not, we'll find out.

Yeah, that's what made me think he was legit. It was industry lingo and not some troll talk.

:apple:

If they are getting drop shipments, and that means they don't know how many or when, how would they know there will be less than 20 6+ and will need to pull from inventory to make the display?

I talked to Apple the other day (called a store) and they said that some units will be available for walk ins but no hints as to how many. They also said the maximum is 2 phones per person.

With the Airdrop, for all we know they had 20 units available now but tomorrow morning they get a shipment with 500+. It can happen.

I am going to either go midnight tonight or I will go at around 5 AM or so. Maybe it will be too late by then but if its too late for the + I will get the regular black 6 and try to be happy with it. :)
