I think Apple is in a tough spot here. I tend to be a fanboy that buys everything Apple, but in this case, maybe not. My reason is that I don't want to pay big bucks for a beautiful stainless steel watch, only to have it be obsolete in a year.

What I don't get: There are people who upgrade their beautiful smartphones every year. But when it comes to upgrading beautiful watches every year, there is some kind of psychological problem with that, even though the watches are cheaper than the smartphones.

Yes, except Apple is not selling the Watch without a strap, so you end up paying for a strap that you will later throw away. Quite annoying.

No doubt Apple is hoping to sell additional bands too. Maybe not millions of them, but it will still add to the bottom line.

Agree, annoying however the prices for the loop, modern, classic and link band are $150-$499.

I'd rather choke on the 50 and get a link band for under 100 and still save 200+ bucks.

(I'd still use the sport band at the gym myself.)

I Love Apple but these band prices are dumb.

You don't think they are pushing the Apple watch ? I think it's a very aggressive makerting campaign.

Is it though? Honestly seems lazy on apples part, they're like oh just take some magazine ads out with white back grounds, get some celebrity to use it and we'll make a film and we'll put it under glass at Apple stores, seems like something Tim cook came up with in 5 minutes.

I would guess that at least in the US, most people upgrade their phones every 2 years, so they are buying at a subsidized price. They'll have to pay full price for the watch.

News Flash: Phone subsidies in the US from AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint ended in 2014.

I'm going for the Apple Edition with green sport band.

It would look the best with Rose Gold!

Not true. Look up Anodic index... It's all to do with electrochemical voltage and galvanic compatibility. Cutting to the chase - dissimilar metals will corrode just by being in contact.

If it was $399, why not?

Rose Gold for 399, yes. Ahh to dream in the land of "if". BUT since it's not 399 and if I was dropping thousands on a watch I personaly would not get that color combo. Being the fashion buff that I am *chortle*

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to preorder, and AFTER I get the product, I will look at alternatives to the strap. (Going for SG 42mm Sport)

Somehow if I go play with it in-store, it will remove the "brand new" device experience I'm purchasing.

I'm sure it will be fine :)

STILL NOT SURE WHAT WATCH TO GO FOR THOUGH!!!! :roll eyes:

The cheapo, or the SS with milanese :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Obviously not real gold, but how about a plated version? I wouldn't spend thousands on a lime green watch either, but for $400, it might sell a few.

Oh, now here's a BEAUTIFUL combo. This would be the $349 Sport watch paired with the $7000 red Edition band.

I want the sport edition with no band so i can put it on a necklace. Just kidding. I'm going to get the sport edition with the bands included. Pretty simple

A few.. :D

I do like lime green actually but on a girls thong, not my wrist. :D (maybe an iPad cover lime green too.) :D
Personal preference.
