This is unlike any previous product launch, so what will be the best way to get one on launch day?

I wonder if the best bet is being up at 1201 the morning of April 10th and doing it online or at the Apple store? If at the Apple store, will it be better to line up the morning of the 10th to get an appointment to try it on and pre-order to pickup on the 24th, or to line up the morning of the 24th?

If you go now, you'll be first in line. :D:D

Why are people complaining about obsolescence? I seriously doubt it will be the same as the phones. And people spend thousands of dollars on watches now that never get software updates?

Why are people not bitching about someone spending $5K on a Rolex that will only ever do one thing, but they are bitching about $350 on a watch that will do over a thousand things? People are acting like the $17,000 model is the only option and like they don't waste $350 a year on coffee, movies, or even one time things like sporting event tickets. I'm about to drop $500 on a Bonnaroo ticket that will be obsolete after three days.

Spin it man, Spin it! Why don't we simply pass a law that everyone MUST buy one... or maybe two since we all have 2 arms? Maybe we could get a Constitutional amendment to force everyone to buy the watch? Why don't we threaten the rest of the world with our full military power (including Nukes) to buy the watch or else?

We all have a spare kidney we could sell. Even a homeless person could sell a kidney and support the Apple. Sell 'em and buy the d*mn watch.

Why make that house or rent payment when being just one month late but getting the watch doesn't really mean eviction.

Why feed your family? They are fat anyway. They could make it a few weeks without food so you can buy this watch.

Apple desperately needs our support. You jerks that are not lining up now are disloyal nuts and I'm ashamed to share a virtual space with you.

And don't even think about trade-ins or resells. It should be a privilege to own one of these forever... and never forget it.

All hail the Apple!

Holy crap. Just realizing the Apple Watch sport only works with the sport band. Well, Watch it is then.

You didn't miss the text underneath the table that starts from "Bands work with all collections..."

But you are right if you meant 'not suitable'.

I was excited initially but the costs are adding up to get a nice watch and I don't need something else to charge every night. About decided to pass. For the first time, maybe wait for 2.0.

Groce. That leads me to wonder if the SS version would be good for the gym.

Not if you don't use aluminium band (if any). It only happen (rarely) when aluminium + steel + salt mix. Need a chemistry expert here lol.

Wait 'til the dust settles and Watch 2 is out. I treat the first consumers as guinea pigs.

The cost is always high for "any nice watch", so it's expectational from beginning. What it's not, whether the Apple Watch is a nice watch or not. Though I believe it is, it's still better to take a look personally in store come 10th of April.

And that is another option. If you "can" wait 2-3 more years. The more expensive the product, the longer the cycle it is. It's common sense.

I think Apple is in a tough spot here. I tend to be a fanboy that buys everything Apple, but in this case, maybe not. My reason is that I don't want to pay big bucks for a beautiful stainless steel watch, only to have it be obsolete in a year.

I am too much of a gadget geek, and spend way too much time on MacRumors to not get a watch and instead wait for another year+. Is that a bad reason? Maybe, but I budget my money for such type of spending.

I am still deciding between a Sport with black sport band, or a stainless steel (maybe with a black sport band to start and buy a leather band later, or who knows). I may just go with Sport so that I can sell it in a year or two and put it towards the SS version I really want. Especially if you're in the camp that believes that gen 1 always sucks for an Apple product (even though by definition of course version 2 will be a lot better!)

Doesn't it seem like Apple should have started the watch reservations the day before pre-orders? What good are reservations if they sell out of certain models between 12:01 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.?

I think with version 2 they'll combine the technologies and features from the Sports Watch to streamline the product line, so in the end they'll only have the Watch and Edition.

Risky business, that. If you wait until an appointment to make up your mind whether or not you want one, I'm guessing you'll be one of the poor souls that will end up waiting until the end of May or June for delivery. Highly doubt you'll be able to try one on and there will still be stock left to fulfill an April delivery.

What I don't get: There are people who upgrade their beautiful smartphones every year. But when it comes to upgrading beautiful watches every year, there is some kind of psychological problem with that, even though the watches are cheaper than the smartphones.

A smartphone is a necessity item and something I use at least once every waking hour. I actually use my phone more than my computer and tablet combined. It’s the one item that is with me at all times and on many occasions I have turned my car around if I forgot it at home. And because we have no traditional phone service my entire family relies on smartphones for communications. The Apple Watch will never replace the iPhone. Apple is trying to position the Apple watch as a smartphone replacement /fashion piece and that’s why the watch will fail. The watch may not fail out the gate but wait for gen 2 and 3 to come out. It will be labeled as a dud and Apple will be forced to reduce cost because no one wants to buy it.
My only dislike in regards to the Apple Watch is the ridiculous price and the confusing operation of it. I love the idea of a smartwatch but Apple is trying to hard with it. It should not cost as much as an iPhone and definitely not more than a car. Apple is crazy and is trying to capitalize off fanboys.

More than anything else, I assume it's a money vs priority issue. I'm sure most can't afford to upgrade their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, (let alone Macs) every year. Eventually something's gotta give, and the watch will likely be the first candidate as it'll likely be used way less than (and can do less) than iPhones, iPads, (or computers). Really, Apple Watch is an accessory for your iPhone, which is why people may not be willing to drop $400-1000 on it every year.

At first I thought you were being sarcastic, but now I know you're a dumbass. Please tell me where rent is $350.

That's a good point... today. But not necessarily for tomorrow. I'm thinking that the watch will replace the phone in many cases in the near future, much like the phone has replaced the computer for a lot of people. Even if it hasn't replaced the computer, it has replaced a lot of our computer needs.

Are you sure? why not 2nd generation?

What will the 3rd or 4th gen have?

Hopefully actual 'all day' battery-life, and beyond.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Apple R&D are working on battery technology. Look at the upcoming MacBook - Moore's Law doesn't apply to batteries. The guts of the Mac is mostly battery!

Exactly!! That's why I'll pre-order at 12:01. Then after work I'll see what it looks like in person. At that point I'll either keep my online pre-order OR if I change my mind cancel my online order and reserve in store if I'm able to.

"The button of the watch..." Not very Apple-like language. Isn't it the "digital crown" or "iCrown" or something?

Galvanic corrosion only occurs when the two metals are in electrical contact.

Which also includes static electricity that can be generated by movement. But it would not happen overnight, it would take time. so if you were to use a sports band for work out situations and use the ss band for other situations, it shouldn't be a big problem

It's all about perception. No one has Watch yet and thus, no one use it yet. Common sense dictates, anything that is unknown, that you haven't tried on or used yet, will always be perceived based on rumours and prices.

After a few months of using it everyday, one will never go back to the old way any more. Just like one would seldom use their laptop any more after iPhone was out, unless to do some work - one would seldom use their iPhone any more after the Watch came out, unless to do some call.

Come back again in a few months, I bet that someone would say that the Watch is the best purchase they have ever made in entire life.

Wait 'til the dust settles and Watch 2 is out. I treat the first consumers as guinea pigs.

I have a genuine question. I'm not being sarcastic, but I'm genuinely wanting to know. What's the point of "waiting until the next gen"? Unless it's financial reasons. I mean, isn't then next gen ALWAYS going to be better than the one before it?

So why buy a iPhone 4,I should just wait for the 4S? Why by the 4S,should I wait for the 5,it'll be better? Why buy the 5,if the 5S will be better? Maybe I shouldn't get a iPhone 6 and wait for the 6S? You see my point?

Why buy a 60" TV today,if next year there is one better? Why buy one next year if the year after there's one better?

By your logic there's never a good time to buy anything.

Bottom line,no matter what you buy in life, there will always be something better the following year. If you can afford it and you want it now, then buy it. But don't not buy it because there's a better version coming the following year (with the watch we don't know when) ...,because waiting the next year....guess what? There will be a better, newer version the next year.
