A peek at AR glasses.
Performance refreshes of the mini.
cannot be a peek at a device that comes at earliest next year on the market....Apple almost always present a new category of device with 6 months before releasing it to the consumers

Light returns on the Northern hemisphere and Apple spring event - makes you happy!

Mac Pro/iMac Pro roadmap: possibly (hopefully)

Mac mini using M1 Pro and Max chips. Not new enough to warrant the headline. The only possibility is if it comes with the in combination with new Apple screens.

AR/VR: WWDC type of peek to describe the new VR-OS.

Performance is leaning very much to PRO users I think . So Peek Performance sound like an Mac mini Pro and to be honest the Mac mini could take the whole range from Mac mini, Mac Pro, Mac Max and beyond . The Mac mini and the Mac Pro could become one product that expands from M1 performance up to M2 Quad Performance

I don't think any Pro users would say no to a Mac Mini with Quad M2 with 1,2,4,8 and 16 TB SSD and 8,16,32,64 core GPU 8,10,12 24,48 Core CPU ... why would you really want any PCI slots, no I think it safe to say we will see a Mac mini Cube known as the New Mac Pro

Damn why that 13" MBP... why??? I just pulled out and used my 12" MB after a long time and dang... it's my favorite portable machine... whole different experience than the MBA-M1 (and certainly the 16" M1 Tank).
I had heard rumours that people exist who actually do like that goddamn awful 12" MacBook, but I have not met anyone in person. I'm going to bookmark this post so in future I can point to it when people disbelieve me, just to prove you exist :)

My iMac is beginning to annoy, I need a new one so hopefully it’s the new big one or I may go mini ?

I don’t own one, but the 12” macbook is one of my favourite products from an ideological standpoint. The audacity of a company telling its customers “we think this one thing is more important than this entire set of other things people usually consider must-haves”.

Yes, it’s slow, and limited, and it’s completely wonderful in the right setting. Now, that’s courage.

I guess I was half joking. I do like the look of it. Just not the execution: slow, limited connectivity, no upgradability, and the keyboard...let's not go there.

Where are all the emotional guys who posted yesterday that Apple would never do this during the Ukraine invasion? ?

Can't wait to order my new Mac Mini.

Indeed, I'm looking forward to replacing my late 2012 Mac Mini and am hopeful new minis are announced here.

Help a newbie out -- how does it usually work for these Apple spring events, in terms of newly-announced product availability. Do they typically announce their new products, and open online ordering for them simultaneously the same day? Or is it more like "pre-order now for September!" kind of BS? Or is it anybody's guess as to whether it's just product teasers vs actual availability announcements?

I'm sure these things aren't cheap and I gotta clear up some balance on my card. :)

I highly doubt Apple will do an M2 before M1 is fully rolled out (with the possible exception of the Mac Pro).
To this end I disagree with the Macrumour predictions and I think we will get the higher end Mac Mini and higher end iMacs. No M2 anything at this event.

Also we all know PEEK is the programming code thing to look up memory addresses and similar things. I am not a programmer at all but even I know this. So we might see more devices with higher RAM amounts?

We might get a new iPhone too. But would apple release the next numbered iPhone or just something like an SE3?
No idea but I think it is possible. Technically it is not M2 but it would be what M2 would be based upon (for the new numbered iPhone, not the SE3 obviously).

Also calling this PEEK performance does not line up with a low end M2 Macbook. Or a low end anything. In my opinion it suggests higher levels of performance, top of the line. Sure the entry level M1 is the best in class but low end anything (ie entry level M2 this time round) does not fit with the vibe of the invite.

Is not just macrumors predictions, but all other real leakers and insiders
M2 is almost a given

1 (internal) + 1 (external) = 2
Yes, but at work I have to use a Windows laptop, and I can have 2 external displays and also use the laptop’s native display. And people want to compare feature to similar feature, even if they never use that ability.

If a low end M2 does happen that would be dumb in my opinion. Why would you push out M2 before the entire range has not yet transitioned to M1?
By entire range I do mean high end iMac, high end Mini and Mac Pro. Sure the Pro might lag behind but the iMac and Mini surely they will happen before others get M2? Apple did say 2 year transition time though and those 2 years are not yet up so even if M2 comes before M1 iMac/Mini Pro/Max is released . . . it is still within Apple's timeframe.

It's just very weird releasing M2 before some product lines have even gotten M1.

Not that many people here who understand programming . . . who know what peek means in terms of a programming command.

While you're focused on colours, lol, I'm focusing on the reason why 'Peak Performance' is being used!!
Think programming and what the term "peek" is used for. That will help you to better understand why the word peek might have been used.

I am still confused by the naming of the silicon chips. Didn't Apple just promote the M1 Max chip as the best chip ever on the market less than half a year ago? Now they are already releasing a M2? Does that mean the M2 will be better than the M1 Max since it has a "2" in the name or does it simply imply the next generation of the "regular" M1 and the M1 Pro and Max will still be better than the M2?
We don’t know what Apple is releasing at all for certain. Since the invite shows what looks like a 24 in iMac everyone is assuming some non-laptop type product will be announced, but even though I don’t think it’s likely Apple would do this it could just be a red herring to distract from whatever they are really going to announce. I think that Apple should get their M(whatever) computers all released before updating models that already are Apple Silicon but I have noticed that Apple doesn’t really listen to my advice. In my opinion releasing minor chip upgrades isn’t ’special event worthy’ no matter what computer company you are talking about but sometimes a companies marketing department feels that they have to toot their own horn. Look through this post and you will find people who are certain that Apple is going to do ‘X’ and most of them aren’t going to be correct.

an m2 will beat m1/m1 max in single threaded speed. So if you care about single threaded performance, then M2 is better. If you care about multi-threaded performance, then M1 Max will beat M2.

So M2 is the next generation of M1.

They may not even call it M2, though I imagine they will.
