So long as you're getting half the price when selling/trading in after a year, it's really not that big of a deal.
For me it isn’t really about the cost, it is about the hassle. I just can’t be bothered to switch to a new phone every year anymore. It used to excite me, now I just see it as a hassle.

Unless I see a new killer feature that will make my life better, I can’t be bothered. Last feature that got me super excited was dual sim, because at the time I was traveling a ton.

Year over year upgrading is pretty silly at this point, unless you have a ton of money you don’t know what to do with 😁
A ton of money you don't know what to do with? We aren't talking about buying a Ferrari here. iPhones hold value very well, so if you sell your old iPhone each year, it's no more than $200-300/year to upgrade.

In fact, if you try to save money by waiting 2-3 years to upgrade, your old phone's value decreases further and you end up spending $600+ anyways, so it's almost as cost-effective to just upgrade every year.

Same for me. Buying a new phone is about as exciting as buying new tires, and just as big of a hassle.

I just hope preorders are after Wednesday. The 11th is when I will complete my savings to pay the T-Mobile deposit + taxes. I can’t imagine them doing it ON the 11th and I’d really hope it wouldn’t be the 9th or 10th.

So what’s the trade in deals this year and what’s gonna be the best one to offload our blazing hot iPhone 15 pro’s?

I sure hope the new phones don't make my antiquated 13 obsolete.

I used to update every 2 years. Phones have just gotten less and less exciting and don't do anything that actually improves anything for me. Not a fake photographer so no need for the new cameras. Everything runs and loads fast. Face ID, Apple Pay, Youtube, Safari, they all work really well. Even though I could upgrade through work I don't see any benefits to it so just keep opting out to save the hassle of a new phone.

With the AI centered announcement it dos not feel like Apple Watch will be as major as the rumors Claimed now a second year in a row. I’d assume at some point they will be right?

I'm right now trying to decide whether to order the iPhone 16 Plus 6.7" 512 GB or the iPhone 16 Pro 6.3" 512 GB at 5 am on the morning of the 13th. (yawn) And I'll probably order it through T-Mobile's web site, just to avoid the ridiculous crush on the Apple web site.

Pro Max 256 here. I go through T-Mobile because of their yearly upgrade offer. I had no problems doing that last year.

Glow time = $$$

They've been doing Tuesday events for what seems like forever.

A departure for sure. I always assumed Tuesdays were used to give media a non-weekend travel day. At any rate, better for us!
Suspect that this one is because they don't want to hold it the day before September 11...

You'd want newspaper headlines on the 10th for that reason.

I predict that Apple is replacing the battery with a miniature fusion core reactor, which will be visible through the logo. Of course, people are going to complain about how hot their phone gets.
