oh man, i'm really hoping that they announce something with the mini as well, although i wouldn't be upset of it were only announcing an update to the imac
:D :D :D

It's g33k time!

I see new iMac, new Mac Mini, iLife and iWork 07 (finally) and maybe the 6G iPod with touchcreen.

Power up your machines, clean them (if you're in Windows) and let's get ready to see an Apple event!

I am really hoping for iWork updates next week. iLife, that'd be nice too, but since iPhoto is the only program I use in iLife (for now) I'm not as excited for that. I might get excited if iWeb becomes more like RapidWeaver.

I am hoping for the elimination of "i" products.

Man those images posted above are awesome - looks like *somebody* wants a job at Apple design! It really looks real!

Does anybody know or suspect if the Mac Pro line up is getting an update, even a small technical one? I'm about to buy an 8core...

M.

The Mac Pro should go all eight-core considering the recent price cuts from Intel. We shall see!

First of all im VERY excited about what could be in the pipeline.

But I do think it could get very funny this time next week, the only thing I will GUARINTEE is that about ten minuets after the address, no matter what is released, there will be people moaning that they didn’t get what they wanted.

Apple could release a new mini with the same configuration as the current MBP, that looks like it forged in heaven, comes with a free 23’ cinema display & is half the price of the current mini. And people will moan that the display doesn’t have a built in iSight camera.

Lets not even stat on the connotations for the iMac! “What do you mean it only has a GeForce 7600 GT 256mb as standard, I wanted more! I know that the 4GB of ram that is standard is OK, but I wanted to play my games and a 256 graphics card just isn’t good enough for me! Poo on Apple im never buying another one of there products again.”

As they say you can please some of the people some of the time, but you cant please all of the people all of the time, and you can never please an Apple fan. :D

You know, Apple could be introducing a new product to their line...

I think all you people underestimate the power of the mini (okay...not all)

To get rid of it IS like getting rid of all the elementary-middle school students who use it. It is a cheap (or was) machine that has enough power for media, fun, and school. No middle schooler will fork up $1,000 for an iMac $500 for a mini is much better. If not mini, they would all go for dell or HP.

LUV UR MAC MINI
AND IT WILL LUV U!

:apple::apple::apple:

That's what people said about eMac ;)

I wouldn't worry too much though, Apple has almost always tried to have a low end product available to somewhat match the price points of low end windows PC alternatives.

They are likely dropping the 17" iMac model leaving the lowest end iMac purchasable a 20". This move leaves a huge segment of 'I'm broke as a joke' consumers unattended to. I'm sure they'll find a product to sell that fits that segment.

PS: What on earth is up what the roller coaster???
Marketing 101: images of roller coasters do not associate well company stability, sales, stock, among other things.

"These are the best Mac socks we've ever made..." :p

-iMac redesign.
-Mac Mini redesign or more likely discontinued.
-QT8 beta... HUGE maybe.
-something unexpected... a one more thing.

If they are, in fact, releasing a new iMac in a sleeker, thinner enclosure, it would be an ideal opportunity to also announce a sleeker, thinner mini notebook. One can dream... :)

What about a merge of the Apple TV and the Mini into something new?

Perhaps a super Apple TV that runs the OS too?

New iMac

Multiple sites are reporting that Apple has called the media to its Cupertino headquarters next Tuesday, August 7th at 10am PDT. The reports indicate that the event will be strictly Mac-related.

Rumors have been indicating that the iMac is set for a dramatic refresh on that date.

:) Everyone is talking about the iMac, but what about the iPod. It's due for another refresh, particularly as Christmas draws closer.

THe new iMac is going to be gloss black with chrome trimmings! remember you heard it from me 1st. It's going to look like a big iPhone.... with a kick stand of course

The iPod is due an update, but not this time. The wording specifically says Mac products and the iPod doesn't come under the "Mac" umbrella/ :)

I'd be very surprised to see new iPods.

Well, I certainly didn't hear it there first. ;)

I just can't imagine how much dust is going to show up on a BlackMac.

maybe they will replace the Mini with the Cube? remember: Cube was never discontinued, it was just "put on ice". That would allow Apple to move to desktop-CPU's and hard-drives while also giving the machine some expandability (one slot). That way the capabilities of the machine would go up while price would remain reasonable.
