October????!!

I can't believe it! That's what one of the Apple Store employees said about the release of the new macbook, back in July!
you apple store acknowledges rummers?
i made the slightest comment about a 3G iphone in may and was told there was "ABSOLUTELY NO 3G IPHONE scheduled to be announced at WWDC" and that rummer sights like this one are totally incredible.i just kinda laughed at the guy and decided not to argue with him. anyway the ipod interface in the pic doesn't look like the one in current ipods so that should be taken note of and this will probably mark the launch of iTunes 8.0 which i am relay excited about. also i think kev Rose said something about Bluray support so that could be what the blue bar is supposed to symbolize. although i think that's just reading too much into it. since itunes dose HD movies though it could realistically be the default Bluray burning app although i think it will belong time before we see them in anything outside mac pros

Dude... what the hell is a rummer?

If the interface is so different, it would be nice to see Apple throw a bone to those of us with 5G iPods while also updated their SSD iPods. I'm in for a Touch no matter what, but spicing up the 5G would be a great bonus.

I want an iPod touch with a lower price tag, please... now... Gimme... Gimmee... GIMME NOW! I CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER WEEK!! ARGH

O? another event in just a week after the previous? where did you hear that?

Not a chance that's going to happen. They aren't going to have two events just a couple weeks apart. If they don't announce the new laptops that means they aren't going to have an event for it and will just release it to the website with a prepared news item for the media outlets.

Anybody remember the last iPod centered event? Did they announce anything other than iPods? I had thought they did but I really can't remember...

Over/Under on stuff besides iPods/iTunes

So what's everybody's odds on new Macbooks/Macbook Pros/Airs, etc. etc.?

The iPod/iTunes update seems pretty obvious. I'm curious to see the over under on updates to other stuff being at least announced if not released.

Personally I think an announcement of Macbook/Pro/Air updates, and a release in 5-6 weeks once the "Back to School" promotion has passed and those purchasers are past the return period.

Any products not included in the iPod/iPhone range would be announced... *drumroll* ... at a later event related to that product.

Woohoo!!! Are iPods normally released simulataneously worldwide, or will we in Ireland have to wait a little longer?

I believe iPods are usually released same time worldwide. It may take a little longer to get to other countries, but probably no more than a week apart.

Could be although I don't know if they would EOL all their laptops at the same time leaving their retail stores with not a single "new" model for a month.

btw - I love your signature, what a great episode!!

Good news for those waiting on iPod upgrades.

I was really hoping for the MBP upgrade since I have a new MBP laptop coming at work.

I've been waiting since MAY (money in the checking account) for new MacBooks.
I'm thinking OK summer.
OK they are coming out Third Quarter July - Sept.
OK no July
OK no Aug.
Now I'm hearing Oct.
Come ON. I need it for work at a school. School started Aug. 25.
This is crazy! Way disappointed in :apple: if they don't release them next week  .

i think plan on releasing the beatles on iTunes as a packadge deal with the new GNR album.;)

As part of the package, it will also come with that free can of Dr. Pepper...

If they are significantly new notebooks, they WILL have a press event- why wouldn't they? Apple gets tons of free coverage and publicity at these events, they are the best bang-for-buck marketing in high tech.

They'll do another press event when the new notebooks are ready. It may or may not be within 2 weeks of September 9, but they don't want to wait too long either before Q4 shopping season kicks off.

I would have expected this to take place at apples campus, not SF.

If its a big enough release, it would need to be held at a place that can hold more than 50+ people. I'm not positive, but i think when they released the iPod Hi-Fi, they could only fit a small amount of people in Apple's Campus Hall/Room. Though I'm sure they have bigger rooms.

Remember in 2005 when they released the original nano in September (along with the ill-fated ROKR) and 5 weeks later released the 5th gen iPod? At the October event they also announced the last iMac G5 (also the first mac w/ built in iSight and remote).

Last year they had a Mac-centric event in I believe August, and an iPod-centric in September. My guess is same this year, but Mac in October.

It does look like a rather long ipod.
