I've been waiting since MAY (money in the checking account) for new MacBooks.
I'm thinking OK summer.
OK they are coming out Third Quarter July - Sept.
OK no July
OK no Aug.
Now I'm hearing Oct.
Come ON. I need it for work at a school. School started Aug. 25.
This is crazy! Way disappointed in :apple: if they don't release them next week  .

If you need it for school then buy one now. Jesus Christ, a laptop you buy today (especially a MacBook) isn't going to be a paperweight once new laptops are released.

Sorry but the event card and name tell all!

If they are significantly new notebooks, they WILL have a press event- why wouldn't they? Apple gets tons of free coverage and publicity at these events, they are the best bang-for-buck marketing in high tech.

They'll do another press event when the new notebooks are ready. It may or may not be within 2 weeks of September 9, but they don't want to wait too long either before Q4 shopping season kicks off.

What I was trying to say is that I seriously doubt they'll two events within 2 weeks of each other - I don't think that's ever happened. I think Apple knows well enough that if they have events for everything the public isn't going to be as excited about it. Gotta get that demand pent up for a bit. If they do have a separate event I'd bet it'd be, at the earliest, the 30th of September but more likely the 7th or 14th of October.

Lets Rock?

Maybe the new iPod Nano will be made of ROCK! SWEET!

Or maybe it's referring to the shape of the new Nano (how it's oval shaped) and when you set it down, it can literally rock on the table!

The MacBook originally launched without a press event, and went straight to the online store.
It's not going to have anything majorly different, other than a case redesign and spec upgrades. I can easily see this one just appearing on the store.

However, for the Pro, im expecting some cutting edge technology (touch screen trackpad?) which will need to get some mass media coverage, and on all the tech blogs etc. I can see the MacBook Pro revision requiring a press event really. Industry professionals are more likely to keep track of the tech blogs and media events than the consumers who just walk into the Apple stores and pick up an iMac, MacBook, or iPod.

Your not alone. I've been waiting since mid last year.

For some reason I'm not that excited....new nano bla bla....bigger capacities blah blah....

I find it odd that there has been no mention of two events until this thread (at least that I've seen). It's as if a lot of you are taking the opportunity to to say, "Hey, it doesn't look like this event is giving me what I want. Of course they'll have another event sometime during the remainder of the year to deliver what I want!"

Well - the good news is you now have 5+ months of interest :)

"Let's Rock!"

How come "Let" gets a rock? I WANT A ROCK. Who is let anyway?

Apple iRock, does absolutely nothing, but it's so shiny..

Looking forward to new ipods. :D

No... the word "Let's" is a contraction of "Let Us"... so it actually says "Let Us Rock".

To quote They Might Be Giants: "Everybody wants a rock to wind a piece of string around"

That's a contraction. "Let Us Rock."

Anyway, I can't wait for the internets to hype this event to no end for a week and then scream and whine when there are only new iPods and no new Macbooks, etc....

I hear you there. It's going to be a typical Jobsnote..

1. Look how much we sold!

2. Here's an award to someone!

3. We're REALLY REALLY excited about this one!!!?!

4. Ahm yeah, well, bit cheaper and more gigabytes..

5. Er..

6. That's it..

7. MBP updates on the way sometime in the near to late to never future!

I really want the new Macbook Pros, but i can't see what more they can add to the iPod that i'd be interested in. Sure, it's got a bigger flash capacity and a larger screen, and yeah it's cheaper, but all in all not that fantastic.

Kinda wish Apple would make the iPhone & iPod Touch have the exact same features minus the phone, 3G & whatever else needs an AT&T data/voice plan. Phone functionality should be a big enough feature to separate the 2 & not cannibalize sales of the other.

ipod Nano = 7th September 2005.. @Moscone
ipod 5th Generation = 12th October 2005.. @Some theater in SF

Im sure there was an event between these two, but I cant recall. Maybe im imagining it.

a tad disappointed there will probably be no laptop updates at this event. who even cares about the ipods anymore? this better be big, and i think it will be. apple will probably put the spark back into the ipod at the event because they have really been focused on other aspects. looking forward to the event and a possible future event when the new macbooks and macbook pros come out.

Thanks, I looked that up after doing my post and deleted my post before seeing your reply.

Learnt some grammar today, excellent. Hehe.

Hopefully the new ipods will be interesting enough to distract the whiners for a few minutes. :D

Or just see my post directly above yours. :)
