OCTOBER?!? Well, at least this way Dell has a chance of actually beating Apple :D

Can't believe how slow Dell's been this time...

So what's everybody's odds on new Macbooks/Macbook Pros/Airs, etc. etc.?

The iPod/iTunes update seems pretty obvious. I'm curious to see the over under on updates to other stuff being at least announced if not released.

Personally I think an announcement of Macbook/Pro/Air updates, and a release in 5-6 weeks once the "Back to School" promotion has passed and those purchasers are past the return period.

iPod/iTunes only. Period.
Totally agree with your other hardware comments - after return policies have expired. ;)

I don't want to rock. I want to compute—on a new laptop.

right!! I don't care about those stupid iPods. I know they are a major cash cow for Apple. But what Apple needs to do is make a computing statement with a radically different MBP with super new features.

I can't wait till October. Damn Apple better come up with something good. However this give a little more time to sell my MBP.

Mixed feelings, mixed feelings

Wonder if the nano's will still have a click wheel.

personally i'd love it to have one, its the only way i can change songs, pause/play while in my pocket. Doubt a nano touch will come with brain-fi that connects to my brain wirelessly.

Anyone else notice it the guy in the pic is holding a bottom jacked headphone (nano) and it appears to be skinny as opposed to a fatty? Rumors confirmed?

Regarding blue in the play bar...

It means new 17" Macbook Pros designed to be run full blast, with a user replaceable hard drive, Blu Ray, a Geforce 9800GT or GTX (your choice), and a quad core Core 2. Yes! Finally! I can't wait :p

Or...it means a slightly designed iPod touch that dosen't even fix the problems I have with the first gen one :(

Anybody know what the screen ratio would be if they made a tall nano with the click wheel from the iPod fatty?

I'm surprised how few people have mentioned iTunes - aren't there rumours of iTunes 8 for next Tuesday? I've got my fingers crossed for a better UI and a few new features in the software.

I, for one, haven't mentioned iTunes, as I see no chance for it to be pared down. I foresee more bloat, more badly implemented features and further degeneration of the logic in the user interface.

Nah, it'll have TWO 9800GT's as well as dual quad cores, 10 hour battery life, an OLED display that actually emits "carbon credits" when turned on, and 8 GB of RAM standard as well as a standard 500GB flash drive! ;)

DAMNIT Apple you better announce the Macbook/Macbook Pro Updates. I have held off purchase for long enough now and desperately need a new computer for college. Oh and if Blu-ray isnt an option im not buying sry.

How long?

Now lets say the Macbooks/Macbook Pros are updated at the event, how long would it take for them to be ready to be shipped?

Kevin Rose just said

"the new iTunes 8.0 visualizations are really trippy - there is one with planet like objects wrapping around each other w/stars/light streams"

on twitter...

I got MY fingers crossed for a WORKING itunes.

Time to take the damn bloat out and revert itunes to a music manager rather then an isync/ical/movies/music/julian fry maker.

No way are laptops going to be even mentioned at this event.

The way that invite is in the ipod interface, I wouldn't be surprised if they made it like that for us lot screaming out to us "IPOD, GET THE HINT NO LAPTOPS TODAY, JUST IPOD", lol.

Yeh... it's **** but October... and then November. 2 WEEKS AFTER THE SCHOOL PROMO FINISHES, THAT MAKES PERFECT FRIGGING SENSE.

Stop the wishful thinking crap, you're only going to be disappointed even more.

Are there any indications for an expansion of the iTunes movie rentals to be more international. At the moment germany and other european countrys are not really covered. Not to speak of the rest of the world.

Not to mention some of us European countries don't even have a music store yet:rolleyes:
