Some things not mentioned:

- all phones stayed on wi-fi 6, not 6e
- the pro model got dual frequency gps finally but not the regular 14. Maybe the iPhone 15 will have it

And F Apple for removing the physical sim. Not all international carriers do eSim and it’s nice to be able to swap between test devices. This was s major bummer.

Anyway, staying on iphone 13 mini and will see what the 15 brings.

The Apple Watch ultimate won’t be a good dive watch. Too small of a screen and bad physical buttons to use with gloves.

I was on the fence if I want to keep my iphone 12 Pro Max another year, or upgrade. I think I'll skip this year. Other than the Satellite SOS and better cameras not much compelling for me this year. I was really hoping for a switch to USB-C. That would have pushed me over the edge.

interesting, so what happens when I travel to a country where esim is not supported yet?

You pay for your US carrier's super expensive roaming option ...
Hopefully you have a carrier with free data roaming. My T-Mobile Magenta Max plan gives me 5GB of highspeed data and unlimited super-low-speed data in 215 countries.

Else, I use Airalo or similar to download an eSim for the country, region, or global use. Been doing it this way for quite a while. Previous to that I was just on Google FI as my provider which gave me connectivity all over the world and was fantastic for my needs.

In Singapore. Singapore Apple store app page for 14 Pro says it has "Dual SIM (nano-SIM and eSIM)".

You don't wanna be on the dynamic island while monitoring whether you ovulated last night in the midst of a bungie jump?

Biggest fail so far... "Emergency SOS is free for two years." After touting how important and groundbreaking the new feature is, along with the fun of using it for a remote FindMy transmission, they reveal that we're going to need to get used to paying for this vital emergency feature. What a letdown! It would have been so much better if they'd said, "It's included with every Apple One subscription, but everyone gets it free for two years."
could be the idea to have to upgrade iphone every 2 years - so the satSOS feature stay for you free. and the "peasant" that bought the refurb is realy doubtfult to be stranded in some hilltop [ovulating in a crashed car]...

Interesting. First I've heard of this. So you can change an eSIM on the fly just by flashing software?

Edit... and how does this compare with a cheap data physical SIM you can buy at any kiosk around the world?

haha. Honestly the Apple Watch Ultra Supreme w/ Cheese was the most interesting announcement for me. That and the international roaming capability for all Apple watches series 4 and up.

That said, the only "ultramarathons" I do are from the couch to the fridge, and I'm not waterproof to 100m so I don't need my watch to be either.
