So the pixel 9 goes up to 3000 nits, iPhone still stuck on 1000 nits
this new iphone is 2000 nits now, even without pro models. 2000 is plenty for direct bright sunlight view for a few seconds. Any higher just leads to even faster overheating which is an issue on samsung, pixel, and iphone 15 pro when high brightness is on. I doubt the 16 will be much better for that anyway.

Agreed, I've held off on upgrading for a few reasons, was hoping to upgrade this year but have very little interest. None of this is worth it to me over giving up 3d touch.
The most compelling reason to upgrade for me is if I run out of 64 GB storage and want to double it to 128 GB.

From Evan Blass on Twitter

“Tim Cook, while certainly a more-than-capable leader, seems like he's no longer the most effective messenger to sell Apple's products going forward. These prerecorded events, in general, are really kind of torturous.”

Couldn’t put it better myself

So MagSafe is now 25w charging but usb c is the same as before 20w how’s that possible, and what happened to the so called jpg-do format

I mean I’m a bit underwhelmed, but had planned to renew my phone and watch anyway (iPhone 14 pro with 85% battery life and AW7)…… so I suspect I’ll get the 16 pro on the iPhone upgrade program and trade my iPhone and AW in against an ultra 2.

I was really hoping for a cheeky little announcement on the MacBook Pro M4, as I really need to upgrade my computer, I’m still running a 2012 MBP
When the heck will the Mac upgrades come? The M4 chip has been out for ages already, just hurry up and stick it in everything, Apple...

God that was the worst Apple Event ever. SO boring. So few new features. Yawn.
I've read a number of comments like this and this really made me thinking (although I've long thought about this)...

Capitalism as an economic engine is stupid in pushing companies to keep having new products after new product after new product. It's all about growth etc. Meanwhile, we are increasingly aware and knowledgeable that unfettered growth is not sustainable and not desirable.

I wouldn't mind if Apple stopped thinking it needs to wow people every year with new products. Minor product upgrades are fine and, to me, should not require some PR jazzed up announcement and production.

I would love to see companies stop thinking always about growth and capturing the market and radicalize with a different (or let's say modified) economic model that really includes sustainability. And, it's not just "donate x amount to help us carbon offset" or "we'll plant x trees if you buy y", or other useless capitalistic idea of energy offsetting. Rather, something better INCLUDING reducing the level of consumption.

Well....who am I kidding though. LOL. Sigh.

They didn't mention nits, its meant to have the same new OLED that Pixel 9 has
They did mention new one is 2000 peak nits outdoors now on 16. seems like it might share the same as the pro models now, and its likely to be the same as the pixel too. the nits dont make the display though, thats controlled just as much through software. same display can have 3000 peak on one phone and limited to 2000 on another.

Welp, guess it's time to finally upgrade from my iPhone XR

Am I tripping? The S10 doesn’t look any different to my S9…. it’s meant to be slimmer and bigger screen?

Definitely one of the most underwhelming of the "primary" Apple events in many years. Especially the rehashing of old and existing products.
Agree. And unfortunately it is becoming a trend :-/

And isn’t just the lack of exciting new product. The format of the presentation itself is more boring as it transitioned from an actual in-person live event to what is basically a succession of pre-recorded marketing videos.

Comparing the 15 Pro to the 16 Pro on the store now is brutal.

It's the same phone with a new button, slightly better zoom, barely noticeable bigger screen.

WOW

Been part of the iPhone Upgrade Program since it launched but.... WOW.

I was just doing the same and was shocked.

How many times does it need to be mentioned that Apple (and all manufacturers for that matter) are not trying to get you to upgrade every year? These phones are aimed at people with iPhone 14 or older, and it's been that way for the past few cycles because that's how consumers are buying phones nowadays.
