I haven't kept up the last couple years, but has the PM always started at 2x storage of the Pro? Seems like if you prefer the bigger screen you get a bit more bang for your buck.

Agree. And unfortunately it is becoming a trend :-/

And isn’t just the lack of exciting new product. The format of the presentation itself is more boring as it transitioned from an actual in-person live event to what is basically a succession of pre-recorded marketing videos.
In a way, I think it's a good thing that the upgrades are minor.

We don't need to keep having major product revisions every year.

With the power of the A18 chip you'd think they would introduce some multitasking features that iPad OS has. At minimum I just want the ability to have apps like Spotify, YouTube, streaming services and other apps download stuff in the background for offline use without having to be in focus.

Since 2016 Androids had multi window split screen mode, surely this can be implemented in iOS.

USB 2.0 on regular 16 models 🥲 and no more physical sim slot on all models international

This was definitely very underwhelming and the stock market seems to agree. To me: really no new health features in Apple watch, plus no Ultra 3. So is there a reason to go from an Ultra 2 to a 10? Not really.

The phone: no 2TB option (at least that I saw) on the Pros, and not a ton of "gotta have" features. I will probably trade the 16 Pro Max anyway to get the new battery and the better power efficiency (if true), but nothing huge.

I wonder where Apple finds these people for their openings. Are they actors, people who fill out a form, do they pick random people all over the world? Do they get paid for being in that infomercial?
It is very carefully chosen and choreographed. Every person of each continent is involved. The only distraction were those micro jumps from Timmy. It looked like he had to 💩 very badly 😅

Black titanium pro max for me, will wait for the hands on videos on YouTube fiest though. I assume that still happens?!

I think this is the first year it has started at 256GB.... but I think this is also the first year that the Pro and Pro Max have exactly the same features. It seems ever year previously there has been a couple/few features exclusive to the Pro Max. I could be wrong though (wouldn't be the first nor the last).

How many times does it need to be mentioned that Apple (and all manufacturers for that matter) are not trying to get you to upgrade every year? These phones are aimed at people with iPhone 14 or older, and it's been that way for the past few cycles because that's how consumers are buying phones nowadays.
13 PM user here, another year and noting exciting or compelling me to upgrade. I imagine many are feeling this too. Apple is failing to read the room. I don’t want any of what they offer at present it’s not a materially better experience it’s a bunch of stuff I won’t use. Maybe they should ship a founders edition phone with cutting edge tech and let the pro phone mean pro photo and video

Can the iPhone unfold into a tablet? Can the iPhone be used to charge other devices?

But most importantly, there is no under screen Face ID.
I think folding phones and tablets are a gimmick and ultimately wear out the screen, just more risk for problems or it breaking and needing repair or replacement.. not very "green" as Apple is trying to be. But who knows...

Charging I'm not sure but maybe it's coming and something pretty minor / low use case in general.. (although maybe it's really useful to you) I think Apple probably sees smaller device batteries as something you want to charge, not charge from.. in contrast to say the iPad.

Under screen Face ID, I'll grant you that.. That does seem kind of needed at this point.
