The smartphone as a category reached the "good enough" category years ago, which is a serious threat to the whole industry. In fact, why would a 13 user feel the need to buy a 16? Honestly? They have nothing to improve anymore, which is why one feels that they are magnifying unnecessary nonsense with the power of marketing to maintain the feeling that something important has been added. And it's getting harder and harder. But I don't blame them. Smartphones have reached their limit...

Apple Intelligence is a gamechanger that requires modern iPhones. AI is only going to increase in capability and this too will require you to buy newer iPhones to be able to take advantage of it.

Eh, pretty ho-hum event. Nothing surprising (for better or worse), just continued incremental updates to things. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as the iPhone and Apple Watch are still great products, and there's honestly only so much you can do with a phone at this point. I'm a bit more disappointed that we didn't get a more robust design change for the Apple Watch, and it looks like it's now one size fits all? At least I didn't see a mention of the typical small and large sizes for the watch.

The fact that the the AirPods Max barely received an upgrade, and the Ultra 2 only got a color upgrade is super disappointing (albeit not surprising given the rumor mill). Apple should've at least put the S10 SOC in the Ultra 2 for Apple Intelligence purposes. And it's absurd that the AirPods Max still only have the H1 chip in 'em.

With that being said, not every Apple Event can be a stunner, and hopefully we'll get some more excitement with the rumored Mac-focused event later in the fall.

With the iPhone 15 pro max only netting up to $650 from apple that would mean I would still have to come up with 650-700 dollars to upgrade to a 16 pro max model ( not that I plan to upgrade this is just an hypothetical ). That money could be better spent else where or saved for the iPhone 17 pro max/ultra.

Just saw that on the site. Where is the up to $1000 coming from if not for the most recent Pro Max?

Never in my life have I turned off an Apple presentation midway, until today. The pre-recorded format, packed with marketing jargon and lacking genuine passion, is soulless. I might as well just read a summary afterward. Meh
I agree, it was hard to watch as an Apple fan. Just a lot of filler and self-congratulating with little substance. A few nice things they should have highlighted in a FAR shorter video, and then referred people to their web site to learn more and let the products speak for themselves.

Aaaaannnnddd…. In an hour Huawei will steal the show. First by copying all things Apple, make it better. Huawei Watch has 10 days battery life and offers the same and even more as AW. Cost less than an AW Se and looks exactly as an AW 🤭

They will also introduce a new electric car with all the bells and whistles project titan ought to be. How big of a jab can a company give to Apple.

Since this keynote from Apple I’m certain they’ve lost the Chinese market for sure.

My god that was a struggle to get through for an event.
I made it up to the start of the iPhone Pro and lost the will to live.
It felt really really long and stretched out, could have been half as long and still been fine.

I actually laughed out loud when he said a totally new watch design, and then we saw something that unless you told someone and looked very close would have looked exactly the same as before... LOL
That was a bit silly to say.

Wife and I have 13, kids have 11, but we are all due for an upgrade. Probably will go for it. Might get me and the wife the Pro version to try out ProMotion, which I've heard is pretty nice. Not sure if it's worth $200. As a photographer, I'm looking forward to the new button. I always use the volume button (and about 25% of the time the lock button by accident...)

"Gamechanger," how exactly? Also: everything Apple Intelligence offers has been available on Android phones for a couple years now. Why can 3 year old Pixels do something a base 15 can't if Apple silicon is so much better?

I switched off at the phrase an unparalleled celebration of colour.
An unparalleled celebration of verbal excrement more like. It’s time the moved back to an 24 month release cycle. There was nothing to see here. I’m a gadget hound like many here and usually manage to find some way to convince myself of the need to beggar myself. This time nope. I think they focussed on ai and dropped the ball on everything else.

So you don’t have any imagination too… or are you one of Apple designers?
What a ridiculous response! We've had basically the same phone for years and you think my response is outlandish? The last two years we've gotten a new button on the side. That's groundbreaking innovation? It's a software race now....there's very little left by way of hardware.
