I thought the updates were amazing, jawdropping compared to my 11. So much has happened since the 11 and it wasn't really that long ago. Will order the 16pro, quite exciting escalation in quality, looking forward to taking pics, vids and recording audio, been waiting a long time for these new mics.

Also about people complaining about the airdpods MAX. These headphones are very very good already. If you are into audio, newer is not better, some of my old Sennheisers from 20 years wipe the floor with many new models. The USBC and other small adjustments are tech updates. You don't have to upgrade, what were you expecting?
Just got a pair of Sony MDR7506 cans today. First made in the 90s.

Switching to Android After Years of Loyalty to Apple

I have been an iPhone user since 2007 and an Apple user since 2002. For over two decades, I've trusted Apple to deliver innovative products that are well-designed, reliable, and a joy to use. However, after years of growing frustration, I’ve decided it’s time for a change—I'm making the switch to Android.

There are several reasons for this decision. First and foremost, the quality of Apple products has noticeably declined in recent years. What used to be seamless, reliable experiences are now riddled with software glitches and bugs that make everyday use frustrating. The innovation that once set Apple apart is simply not there anymore—every new release feels like more of the same, with no real groundbreaking features to speak of.

I’ve also grown tired of Apple’s design choices. The oversized devices are cumbersome and don’t fit my needs, and the ever-growing camera bump is not only aesthetically unpleasing but impractical as well. It seems like Apple is focusing on style over substance, and even the thickness of the devices is misleading, with some clever trickery in their design to make them appear thinner than they are.

And let’s not forget Apple’s much-touted "intelligence." Features like Siri and AI-based suggestions are nice to have, but they’re hardly game-changers. These so-called intelligent features aren’t anything that justifies a major upgrade.

For years, I’ve been more and more disappointed, but I stuck with Apple, hoping things would turn around. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, and after countless cycles of overpriced products with diminishing returns, I’ve had enough. I’m moving on to Android, a platform that I believe now offers the quality, innovation, and flexibility that I once valued in Apple.

It's been a long time coming, but it's time to say goodbye.

I actually agree with pretty much everything in there (also a very long term Apple user).

Bit while I find Apple increasingly disappointing compared to what it used to be, I am not ready to switch as quite frankly what I see elsewhere doesn’t look better. What keeps me around for now is that Apple is unique in offering such a broad range of decent computing devices in all form factors which are offering integrated OSs and a relatively consistent UX (computers, tablets, phones, smartwatches, streaming device, etc).

The cheapest power adapter that Apple sell that'll charge any new iPhone at full speed on Qi2 is the £69 35w charger (with the terrible reviews). That's $90!

They no longer sell the 30w single port adapter on the UK website tonight.

almost misread that missing the NU and and L. Not comfortable
surprised I didn't get a MR warning and deletion notice. I got one for this:

"what happened to the hardware guy that was going to rip you in two? ('acronym for a trending government initiative') or FBI? Or am i getting my apple hardware guys mixed up.."

I'm a bit baffled as to how the new shutter button w/ capacitive touch is going to work with a case. Seems like it isn't?
It isn't, unless the case uses some fancy integration like Apple's new cases do: "This case works seamlessly with Camera Control. It features a sapphire crystal, coupled to a conductive layer to communicate finger movements to the Camera Control."

All set!

Welcome to the dark side my friend. It is an excellent place to be. I left iPhone after the 12PM, and I've never looked back. I currently have the Honor Magic V3 Global, and the iPhone is laughable by comparison. I still love Apple, but I am waiting in the wings until true innovation and brilliant design come back to the forefront.
Never heard or seen that before but looks cool. I wish we all alternated tech to be more familiar with what other brands are doing but the ecosystem lock-in is real for some.

Wasn’t there an issue with condensation and the headband wearing out? I saw people online complaining about it when they first came out.

Don’t you think they should have added the H2 chip? The AirPods Pro 2 has it. Do they really sound better than the AirPods Pro 2? I have the Pros 2 and they are great, especially the Noise Cancellation.
I never had an issue with that for mine. Other people report using them outside in very hot weather and not have the condensation issue. There will always be defective units.

And yes the Airpods Max does sound better than the Pro 2, even though it just has the H1 chip.

Ok I reluctantly will go pro Apple here.

Yes, go Android and maybe go all out and get a foldable Samsung. There is no reason to rock one phone. I have 6! But honestly I only use three:

iPhone 14 PM
Pixel 7 on GrapheneOS
Pinephone bootable to Ubuntu and Kali

Of those three the 14PM is still my daily driver. Keep your iPhone and try some others. I’m more privacy minded than most and when I travel the Pixel 7 is for that, but I still use my iPhone first. The Pinephone is just a hobby Phone.

Bottom line: If you are bored with the iPhone try some others but keep the iPhone. Now you can choose what to carry each day - like a change of clothing. The iPhone is still king overall but only rocking one phone will get stale.

BTW: If you live in the States and it only has eSim - yes that sucks! I ditched my eSim last week and not going back!

That’s my take on this…

Next year:
Thinner faster iPhone with more AI
Thinner watch
Macs with new CPU that has more cores

Didn’t Steve Jobs once say that Apple builds a product to do things for people, not to be 30% faster or 10% thinner?

I love Apple products, but this company seems to be treading water.

The idea that we will see (or that any company can produce) year on year « grand innovations » is a fantasy. I know it, you know it, they know it. What we see are marginal updates within a 12 mo cycle. The days of Jobs standing on stage and blowing us away with his « one more thing » are like it or not, in the rear view mirror.

My take

W10 - ok if you are behind a few years
W Ultra - pass, my Ultra 1 is doing just fine, love it
Airpods ¨Pro with hearing features - I heard Japan and Germany (NOT the EU), which means to me that the lobbies will try to kill this as it will eat into their grotesquely overpriced « hearing aides » - watch for that.
Apple Intelligence - they had to say something, some of it is « good », nothing earth shattering
iPhone 16 - maybe something there - I have a 15 Pro, there seem to be some advancement. At the risk of restating again - we will NEVER see year over year, « great leaps forward ». No longer possible. I’ve lowered my expectations and feel better about it.

The iPhone won't even have all of the AI capabilities announced at WWDC, until next year. Apple is struggling to just deliver on their promises. So... no. I think not 🤣
It should be embarrassing for Apple that they have these events, and none of the products are actually available for sale yet, and many of the new features will not be able until next year (if at all). You have to wonder what are all those thousands of people who work for apple actually doing?
