Yeap, they have NO excuse not to use the Steve Jobs theatre for their product launches, as it was built for, I actually wonder what they DO use that place for now? But of course they can control the narrative a lot better with recorded videos.

Nah, gotta fly to Miami Beach to show off landscape upright features.

My reactions.
  • AirPods Pro. Real time translation is awesome. Longer battery life. Nice! However, I do not like earbuds.
  • Apple Watch. I get so mad when people dismiss the testimonials as marketing fluff. Apple Watch saving someone’s life is not marketing fluff. 24 hour battery! Nice! Hypertension notification? Awesome. I wonder how many people have it and don’t realize it. There’s a reason it’s called a silent killer. Satellite connectivity for the Ultra. I thought that was already a thing. 42 hour battery for the Ultra! Wow. I want one.
  • iPhone 17. Nice upgrades for the non pros. Over 500 billion selfies taken with iPhone. How do they know that? Wow we live in a narcissistic society.
  • iPhone Air. So the rumors were true. I don’t understand the desire for a thinner iPhone. Clearly, I’m not the target customer. N1 chip for WiFi & Bluetooth. C1 chip for 5G. Interesting. “All day battery life.” We’ll see. So they’re not calling it the 17 Air?
  • iPhone 17 Pro. Solid aluminum. Bye titanium. Biggest battery. Nice. That’s what I want. New cooling system. Interesting. Stronger screen. I’ll still put on a screen protector. Ah the vapor chamber! Rumors were true again. Aluminum offers superior heat dissipation. Ah that’s why they abandoned titanium. Ceramic Shield for the back. Suppose to be tougher and more scratch resistant. Improved cameras. Expected but still neat. I’m still very happy with my 15 Pro Max. No upgrade for me.
  • Misc. They’re still not doing the keynote in front of a live audience. Seems like a waste of the Steve Jobs theater. I’m surprised they had the courage to mention A.I. anything this time.
Apple could’ve went more in depth with the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery life.

Did they always leave out the Pro Max in previous keynotes? I feel like they always ended with it in previous years, if all that's different with the Pro and Pro Max is the 2TB storage then why not just leave it out and include it in the Pro.

No SIM slot on the Air is going to seriously harm it's sales globally. People like to be able to swap and buy SIM's on the fly.

And the space thing is no excuse, could have easily fitted a nano slot on it, maybe on the top where it can go into that mountain of a camera bump!

I'd love more than anyone to have proper live events back but there is no way they're going to take the risk now. They need to completely control the narrative and there is far too much risk of something either going wrong or something happening that's not on the script.

This is Apple but entirely on their terms.

Here is a throwback iphone 4 with modern guts!
I still use my 4 with my clock radio on my night stand. Occasionally I will pick it up to move stuff around and it always shocks me how great it feels in my hand. It really was the peak of their design.

This is stuff that nobody cares about lol. Once you strip the conference out of these technical details, you remain with a brick that doesn't do anything new. Just gimmicks, like last year's camera button. Was enthusiastic on that 8x zoom, then I realized it's digital lol
