I like the new iMacs but I'm kinda disappointed that the one that's Red on the back is pink on the front. I wish it was Red front and back. Not too many "masculine-style" options for a man.
Yeah, I'm not too keen on the color of the peripherals either. I might get a Blue one or the Orange in the future, maybe. But not particularly keen on the pink.

Still though, I do like the new form factor.

I think is just Apple being Apple and paving the way to a new iMac Pro (in black).

Some cool/interesting announcements, but for now I’m most excited about two peripherals lol: the new remote for ATV and the Touch ID keyboard.

Hope the keyboard is backwards compatible and they sell it separately. I think they’ll eventually sell it separately but I’m thinking it requires some kind of security tech that may bot be present in previous Macs. Ultimately I hope the TID keyboard can be paired with MacBook Pro for when it’s docked in clamshell mode.

If I install AirTags to my skateboard and bicycle which are then stolen, does it mean I can track them down?
This will be huge at finding thieves and maybe prevent theft
I'm positive a thief would just see it and rip it off tho.

Wow no dark colors. Not pushing an agenda/lifestyle at all. Well that was fun. Disposable trackers and Easter/rehashed technology. Wheeee!
Yeah, what in the heck was up with that random purple iPhone? Well... I think I figured out why Apple chose 4/20 to push these out. They be smokin' some good (colorful) "grass" in Cupertino, eh?

Ha, you're late on that one. That's been going on since the beginning of the Steve Jobs years.

And I realize now my post may of came off a big strange. To clarify I mean lifestyle/agenda shown in the commercials/tone of the whole thing. Pandemic bad we need happy! Happy colors! These iMacs need to be in bright sunlit California homes! Look Sunshine! Look Colors! Look open floor plans!

In my house there is not a single place I could place something like that with bright white borders and it not stand out like a sore thumb.

I don't need my computer to stand out.

Make it every color of the rainbow for all I care but have one dark model for those that don't need to scream Apple user here!

It appears to be available separately and appears to be backward compatible since they list it working with Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD

Not yet on the Apple store, so we shall have to wait and see.

The silver one would be your only option then.

No, that's light red. Completely different. 😝
LOL I've tried to convince myself over and over that it's "light red" but Apple calls it Pink. It's strange that they do call the color scheme pink when the back of it is really red. It's only pink on the front. A Product Red one would've been awesome.

I wasn't able to watch-- Am I seeing this right though? The new iMac is basically identical to the Mini spec-wise? Same M1? Wow, you'd be paying a LOT for a pastel colored monitor...

Yep pretty much like a mini with a built-in screen. Not a bad thing since the M1 rocks but the iMacs have always been designed to be more powerful than the basic MacBooks and Mac mini. This is odd that it's basically the same machine as a Mac mini.

Yep, looks to be an $800 upcharge for the 24" 4.5K (4480-by-2520) display

with an integrated 1080p webcam in the display with all sorts of (claimed) image wizardry,
also microphone and speakers,
oh and you get the touchID keyboard included.

So yeah, bit of an upcharge vs rolling your own setup with a mini.

Yet for some folks there's value in just buying one item and not needing to figure out what monitor, what webcam, what speakers, etc. ... and it' snot like Apple has a history of marketing towards the truly price conscious consumers...

Do notice though - the new imacs are 24". The 27" models remain available as Intel.

I suspect we'll see those move to a higher tier M1 of some flavor in the future.

Holy balls, this event was even bigger than their fall event from 2020. So many good products, the Airtags finally launch, which I’m definitely on board for myself. But more than anything, I think the iPad is really impressive with the new M1. Loads of potential.

I was hoping that moving to the M1 chip in iPad Pro might signal the porting over to iOS of some of Apple's own powerful Apps, especially Logic Pro X. And perhaps that is coming. But I know Apple so far is trying to keep Mac OS and iOS/iPadOS as separate entities, so perhaps it's too much to hope Apps from both platforms might begin to merge and be equally equipped.

Yes and someone mentioned earlier it's a good chance there will be an iMac Pro in 27" or bigger at WWDC.

It's more expansive for people who only have enough space for the 21" size on their desks. It's roughly 30% more screen in the same space.
What kind of desk can only hold a computer that’s 21.5”/54.7 cm wide (that’s the width of the new 24” iMac)? Sounds like a manufactured problem. Unless you live in an RV or insist on keeping half a dozen greek statues on your desk at all times and wedging the computer between them, a 27” or 32” is fine for the most compact of IKEA desks.

A bit of an uncharge? To be honest, this really kills the value proposition of the iMac. The items listed really are not worth anywhere close to $800, especially consider the mainstream audience that this targets will not care about the screen quality or webcam. The new iMac seems like a whiff all the way around.

Outside of the iPad Pro, the whole event was meh. Apple TV seems like a minor spec bump (which is honestly fine). Airtags not having a way to attach them really hurts their usefulness and value. I was hoping for more overall.

A lot of the typical kids/student desks aren't particularly large. Same for folks who may have a "family" computer on a side-counter in the kitchen.
