so in London it seems to be "off"?
anyone with experience in Germany?
I just went to betterworx in Berlin (Prenzlauer Allee), I got the impression that they didn't even know about this deal. They told I had to leave my mac there and wait 2-3 weeks for the replacement parts. But then again, they told they're only like 3rd level of authorized service, so I'm trying my luck with the one at Kurfurstendamm I think.
I took mine in about 3 weeks ago. Apple Store near Marienplatz Munich. The battery test failed. They told me in store about the two options. Of course I went for the replacement, but couldn't tell me which Macbook I would get. I ended up with a brand new 2017.

How long did it take or did you walk out same day with a new one?

Do you get the option to buy AppleCare+ again if you get a brand new machine?

I have a 15" mid 2012 Macbook pro with 250 cycles and 89% life left as per coconutbattery. But I dont seem to get 7 hrs off my macbook. It goes off in maybe 4. do you think I can qualify?

17" : I had the battery replaced in December and asked to test the GPU, the GPU died at the beginning of January, Apple said they did not have parts so they refused to do anything about it.

The GPU had already been "repaired" twice.

Now I use a PC.

Try getting a PC laptop from 2011 repaired for the GPU issue (it also affected many PC machines with the AMD GPU that affected the Macs) and see how you go.

You won't get any free out of warranty repairs at all.

According to coconutBattery mine is at 69%, 488 cycles and I was offered the replacement rMBP today. I guess these numbers don't say everything. My MacOS dropdown says "Service Battery" and the battery test done in the Apple Store gave a 'red' result for all 3 segments (that showed up on their system test software).

Check your battery capacity using coconutBattery.
[doublepost=1500964011][/doublepost]

Downloaded Coconut Battery as you suggested and it says my battery is at 77.5% design capacity. But it also says battery status is Good. I have had the service battery warning in the past. I wonder if this will still qualify.

I chatted with Apple Support last night about the battery and replacement, which they claimed the battery was in stock and would only take 3-5 days if I mailed it in to them. I do not have an Apple Store or authorized repair facility near me. I wonder if the chat support person maybe doesn't really know the batteries are constrained??

Can confirm this and was likely one of the first to be given this exchange back in May. It wasn't until a week after I sent in my computer for a battery replacement (that was supposed to be 3-5 days total) that they informed me of the supply constraint and that a program just launched so that I could get a newer refurbished computer for the same cost of the battery.

In my case though a week turned into nearly a month after they repeatedly messed up and lost the computer.

Needless to say my 2012 rMBP turned into a 2015 rMBP with double every spec except the CPU which was still improved. Free of charge. I was disappointed in Apple for such a horrendous experience but in true Apple fashion they went above and beyond to make it right.
They LOST your computer!?
That's scary.

This is what worries me when I consider taking my iMac in for a cleaning (those dust streaks behind the screen which all iMacs get since at least 2009 models). I would really hate for them to lose my computer AND keep me without a computer for a month.

Popping into the apple store tomorrow in Hong Kong. When i first read about this earlier today, i immediately unplugged my cto top spec'd rmbp mid 2012 ( i usually use it connected to the thunderbolt display 99% of the time) and downloaded coconutbattery to test it. Initially for the first couple of hours, the design capacity was hovering between 81-83% or so. it occasionally dropped just below 80% for a couple of minutes, but would then increase back to the 81-83 range. However, for the last 3 hours, its remained constant at the 79.8% mark. Looking at the system information, the battery information shows the same result too, at 79.8%. Hopefully this is true, and it is indeed below the 80% mark when apple run their checks on it.

Please keep us posted! I’m well below 60% but I’m figuring China/HK are the most likely to be excluded, might actually be worth a run to Singapore or some place near by and combine a quick vacation!

Mid 2002 retina MacBook Pro here.... Just scheduled an appointment for 11:35 am. Says 'Service Battery' by the power info. coconutBattery says design capacity of 74.7% with 426 cycles. We'll see what happens. I don't really want to replace the battery for $200, but if it gets me a replacement - awesome.

Do they give you the options straight out? Or do I have to pay roulette saying I'll pay to replace the battery - and if there is no stock, they offer a replacement?

Let us know your result!

Anyone been to Apple Store, Emporia Malmö (sweden) and had luck with this?

Would like to know this as well, as I'm considering going there since we don't have any Apple Stores in Copenhagen.
And my MBPr mid 2012 just gave me the 'service battery'.

I have a Mid-2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro, and my "Service Battery" has been showing for a while now, but I've just procrastinated for a while... sounds like a good time to go in and get it checked.

Ironically, my only concern is that if they offered me a replacement MBP, I might not take it since I'd be afraid I'd get the newest MBP with Touch Bar.... love the touch bar, but hate the lack of SD card slot, the exclusive use of USB-C, and I actually LIKE MagSafe charger. I'd actually be hoping for an older model than the 2016 or 2017. ;) Also, I hate that giant trackpad. Was using a co-worker's 15" Late 2016 MBP with Touch Bar and I kept tripping over that ridiculously large trackpad - very annoying. No idea what the benefit it being so large is, seems stupid unless it were to double as a graphics pad.

I will be taking my Early 2013 15" MBP in on Wednesday.

602 cycles and have "Service Battery" warning. This was noted by Apple when I took it for service a few months ago and back then they recommended I replace it. I decided not to due to time constraints.

Do you get the option to buy AppleCare+ again if you get a brand new machine?

A new computer popped on my support profile after they offered the replacement. It told me I have a month to buy AppleCare+ for it. Anyone else get that?
