Maybe I'm just too old to have remembered them but what was wrong with the G4 Cube (I saw it on display and it looked amazing!) and MobileMe? Didn't MobileMe lay the foundation for iCloud?

Don't remember Ping (only the command line network utility!) and you would have a point with iAds and the Antennagate issue.

Just listing a mere 3-4 blunders from Jobs when Cook has had 1) iPhone 5C, 2) Magic Mouse charging 3) "Apple Intelligence" 4) Ads being added to Maps 5) WWDC keynote downgrade 6) iPhone 17 Pro scratching issue 7) MacBook Pro TouchBar 8)Butterfly Keyboards, need I go on? is the height of irony.

avp is like virtual spatial computing

actual spatial computing will involve projection in real space, not strapping screens to your face

Maybe the Neo is not junk from a parts point of view but it's junk from a technological point of view. 8 gb of ram is ridiculous and no upgrade options after you buy it. 512gb hd too small for a lot of people and you can't get a larger hd if you want.

both of those are sufficient for many people. if they aren't enough for you you don't have to buy it

8GB of RAM was sufficient in 2010. Today it's barely enough to watch YouTube in HD with. In a couple of years it's gonna be garbage fodder.

No, but it's one common use. Some play games. I haven't seen anyone buy one just to type out documents or spreadsheets with since the days of the i486.

Anyway, I don't know. They manage to create phenomenal large trackpads, and the iphone is one heck of a device.

I use an m1 Mac mini at work for: excel, quickbooks, Sharepoint, web, email and remoting in to other machines. 8GB of ram is a non issue

Given the M1 MacBook Air was absolutely identical to the last Intel I3 Air shipped just months earlier, it literally was the chip that was the problem.

Most of those are not blunders, they are just things you don’t like.
Magic Mouse charging is *annoying*, but it doesn’t make the product a complete failure. Also Steve never quite got the mouse right either, remember the hockey puck?
Ads in maps is, again, just a thing you don’t like.
WWDC keynote quality is irrelevant, that’s not a product. It’s functionally just one big ad.
17 Pro scratches? Steve’s Apple was literally sued, and lost, over the same thing.

Just saying that Cook isn't immune to the same criticism. You act as if Cook has been ten times better when he's had more flops than Jobs ever could hope to compare with.

Again, what was wrong with MobileMe (it laid the foundation for iCloud?) I missed the memo there.

I think nobody can deny the butterfly keyboard and TouchBar and iPhone C were duds, that's beyond 'me not liking it' or I'd have included iOS 7 and much much more in there (but those obviously succeeded)

Basically can sum up this with "We're not perfect..." But quite honestly I did want to buy Apple stuff more when Jobs ran it, and I'd have preferred Scott Forstall remaining chief software guy. I had fun then and would still if they found someone more like Jobs and less like Bill Gates. Today Apple is less like Apple and more akin to Microsoft and Samsung.

And apple’s machines started at 2 GB of RAM in 2010, so not exactly the point you think it is.
In fact, Apple’s default stock options on the MacBook Pro *maxed out* at 8 GB in 2010.
I was using one of those 2 GB machines in 2016, I think the current 8 GB will be fine in six years.

They also *chose* to make that computer the last time they used an Intel chip in a MacBook Air, so clearly they are good at making choices.
Also, they chose that chip because it was consistent with the chips for the MacBook Air They had been using for years, it’s not their fault Intel basically stagnated after 2013.

Why wasn't AMD ever an option to replace Intel? Some argued way back then that they gave up on the PowerPC too soon as well, I mean, look what Microsoft managed to do with a PowerPC chip: Run an Xbox with it.
