Then it makes sense if Intel has issues, switch to AMD. Why did they have to spend more effort to come up with their own stuff?
because they want to make their own proprietary chips AND they wanted to move from x86 to ARM
I don’t act as if anything, the truth is that Cook and Jobs both have massive, massive success stories, that also include massive failures. There is absolutely no getting around that.
However, it cannot be denied that Apple‘s failures at the time hurt Jobs’ Apple way more than Tim’s.
The G4 Cube didn’t even last a year on the market, being discontinued, exactly one day before its one year anniversary. And the launch of iMovie 08, Mobile Me, Mac OS X Chita, the iPhone 4 antenna and FinalCut Pro X were all met with extreme pushback, some so strong that Apple, and even Steve himself, had to come out and apologize and/or offer free cases, re-downloads of old versions of apps, or any number of things.
Say what you will about the iPhone 5C but it was still one of the best selling phones of that year, and the iPhone 17 Pro scratching hasn’t stopped it from becoming the best selling phone of 2026.
What on earth is the iPhone C? You mean the iPhone 5C? Also known as one of the top 10 best selling smartphones of 2013 and 2014? And arguably the predecessor to all of today’s modern base iPhones starting with the XR?

Yes I meant 5C. The one with the goofy hole case that covered up the label in a weird way on the back. The all-plastic one that got less update support than any model since the first iPhone in 2007.
Steve Jobs made me want to buy Apple stuff.
Tim Cook only cares about profit at the expense of the customer (a foreign concept for me, I remember when being customer hostile or not caring about customer wants/demands would be enough to bankrupt a company) and just makes me yawn. Boring flat design, boring bland colors, boring samey samey nothing fun anymore. Might as well slap a Samsung logo on it at this point and use the A-series branding.
I would have preferred Apple to be that tribute 'to the Crazy Ones' that Steve intended, not another mega-corp alongside Microsoft, catering to the status quo.
Maybe they should have gotten Wozniak back? Somehow I think he'd have been a better choice.

5C was a great phone. felt better in the hand then the 5S

I think the 5C was the best in hand feel (caseless) of any iPhone, ever.
I wish they'd revive some plastics on devices.
Apple can do it in a very high quality way and it would allow for awesome colors again.

Colour is sadly becoming banned in society. Cars are basically shades of grey, black and white (or weird fetishes with Pepto Bismal Pink and Malox Pearl) and the colour selection of Apple devices today is hardly what it was when the clamshell iBooks and first-gen iMacs launched. Where's my Bondi Blue 17 Pro?!

The original iPhone received two major updates, 2.0 and 3.0.
The 3G only one and a half, 2.0 to 4.2.1, it never received 4.3 through 4.3.5.
The 5C received three major updates, it launched with iOS 7 and received eight, nine and 10.
the same amount as the 3GS and 4, which went from 3.0 to 6 and 4 to 7 respectively.
It also received another three years of security updates on top of that, receiving its last update in July 2019, five years and 10 months after launch. Significantly longer than the original iPhone.
actually no that chip was not consistent with the chips they had been using in the MacBook Air
2020 was the first (and obviously only) time that apple used an i3 in a MacBook Air
previously they only offered i5 and i7
I totally agree. AMD Ryzen chips were already lapping Intel chips for a couple of years in performance per watt around the time of the M1

This is the first time I have heard someone have a problem with the absolute win that the m-series chips have been. Wy on earth can you look back at that event and think that it matters at all what Intel chip could have been used instead? They were all terrible compared to the m1.
again, I'm not talking about apple silicon here at all
not sure who you are arguing against here but it's not me...

Who knows what the future may hold, but conceivably, we could see something like an Apple Neo Vision at some point, which would arguably make products such as the AVP far more accessible to a wider range of users - not to mention greatly improve profitability across the AR product space.

You're leaving out the various Clamshell iBook and first-gen iMac colours. Also iPod touch, Nano, etc as well. Apple had a lot more colour prior to 2007. You're only looking at things past the first iPhone.
Also, the banishing of colour goes well beyond Apple. Look at any new home interior these days, or cars. It's like I'm living in an office society.

I mean sure, IKEA furniture is functional, but boring and generally uncomfortable. Yet that's basically what the rest of society seems to follow. Take everything wonderful out and leave it merely functional. Bland and boring. Just another day at the office.

The nano only gained colors in September 2006. The first generation only came in white.
The iPod touch didn’t come in colors until 2012. Before that, it was just silver and black, or a white front added in 2011.
The iPod classic, or just the iPod, never came in colors, other than black. Unless you count the U2 special edition.
Arguably, Apple releases products and more colors today than at any other point in their history.
Around my beginnings as an apple fan, they only had two products that came in colors, the iPod shuffle and the iPod nano.
Other than that, the iPad came in black or white, the iPhone came in black or white, the MacBook came in silver, the iMac came in silver, all of the other Macs came in silver.
These days, the standard iPhone, the pro iPhone, the MacBook Neo, the MacBook Air, the iMac, the base iPad, the iPad mini, the iPad Air, the AirPods Max, the HomePod Mini and even their USB-C cables all come in different colors.
A couple years ago, there was even a blue and red Apple Watch.
I understand their standpoint and it is frustrating because it’s been since 2015 that I am waiting for proper smart glasses to replace at least my screens and that are operational … I tried so many in the market but … nothing is ready and we can all call those products gadgets for now … Yes even the Quest …
